I generally do not say much on such issues, however on this particular point, I think Elijah is right.

It does not take all that much to tack a note to the board letting patrons know they will be unable to perform their duties for a particular evening.

It has nothing to do with those on "leave", nor any type of insinuation that callers have no right to take an evening off.

For some of the callers that have posted here, I respectfully advise that you retire from the sport. When I could no longer be civil with patrons is when I handed in my callers badge, and you have shown a distinct lack of civility - when you pen your name it is always as an official representative while you are still a part of the staff.

Charlie,

You are right its not the end of the world. My complaint is simply if you plan to do something based on the information given, and then find the information given is either false, outdated, or others who the information is about are not doing what is expected at the time it becomes very frustrating to those of us making plans based on that information. And if I can't duel then I go and do something else.

Scenerio. I schedule a TDL duel for 8pm EST on Thursday, do it, then come to the Arena thinking I have the rest of the evening to duel. By 10:15-10:30 the lone caller has closed the Que saying no one is coming in after them. So, I sit there thinking to myself, I should have scheduled my TDL duel for 10 or 10:30pm EST instead because I already made plans to be home for a duel, and figured I would spend the evening dueling. While I am not
looking for a certain number of duels a night to be able to do, it is kind of frustrating to get into the Arena and only get in one or two duels and start getting relaxed and comfortable with the room and the RP, and then have it all shut down. There is also a definent group of people who are "early" duelers" and other who are "late" duelers, and if the late duelers come in and find no caller at all more often than not, how many times are they gonna
come back and keep trying?

As far as you get what you pay for, its that kind of attitude that has manifested from officals representing the sport that has caused me to have a sour attitude about the officals. Most people who become officals of the sport do it for love of the game to help the game keep going not expecting much in return. There's more to being an official than just going through the motions to barely keep the place afloat. Its been my experience when
the sport is stable with officials to maintain the records and histories along with a reliable schedule staffed with officials who don't show attitude that the patrons usually follow suit by the example set and everything tends to be more harmonious.

You don't need to swear and there was a time when such language was removed from the cork. Seems that has changed.

Let me make my stance clear in polite terms. I agree with you that dueling officials SHOULD, unless unable by some act of God, leave a note tacked up on the cork to note their absence as a courtesy to the duelists. However, my point here is please refrain from ripping into people when they do give you that courtesy, as you have done in the past. You used to get angry when the arena was closed, which is understandable, but the notices were
published so people could make other plans for the evening. Are we understanding each other?

As for lashing back, you have my apologies, E, but being to the point is a far cry from being rude. There is no reason for you to not address dueling officials with a civil tongue if only for the sake of those that do run their tails off such as Altara, who you already noted.

I do agree that those that are not capable of being there for the time posted on the schedule for extended periods of time should request their name be removed until such time as they can continue their service with their fellow officials and to the participants of the Duel of Swords. In fact, it is my opinion that anyone unable to perform their duties for a lengthy period of time should retire and request reinstatement when they are able to return.

I am not blindly supporting my peers, Elijah, I am asking that you as a patron not make blanket statements that are discouraging to members of the team that are tending to their responsibilities, but because of your wording and naming of names may make them feel as though they are not. Such thing also discourage people from signing on as callers or forces present ones to get attitudes.

I do not offer opinions or comment on any fellow officials that I have not seen in action with my own eyes.

In short, yes, your compliant is valid, but can you have a bit more valid point and a little less bite, please?
