I have absolutely no clue as to what happened that caused Rad and Kayne to be suspended, but I can say that whatever they did must have been extremely bad to warrant a suspension of ::counts:: 2 months, a full cycle. I sure hope this is a message to everyone in this community, that showing disrespect to the callers may merit disiplinary action. What I hope even more, is that those *not* now in our community are told of this incident, and what may
happen to them if they seriously disrespect the callers.

On the other hand, I sincerly hope that this situation is used to slap anyone on suspension that in any way, shape or form shows the slightest amount of disrespect. I know that many around here like to lighten the atmosphere by teasing the callers and q-keeps. This technically is disrespecting them, but all parties involve know it is just a joke, and nothing serious is meant by it. There may be a time in the future that a caller or q-keep does not
understand this, and is able to throw down punishment for an innocent act. Yes, it is a leap, but I have read about it happening in many other places, particuarly in nation-states or empires, where one small incident causes a slow change in thinking, that eventually leads to an oppressive state of affairs. Let us pray it does not happen here.

Once again, I have no idea as to the actualities of what is said, nor really wish to know. If my comments seem a bit off base due to this, please let me know.

::wonders why he misses everything that happens around here and walks over to make a note on the board::Of course I wasn't here for what happened (or anything that happens) but even though i dont know the details i can see that this is another case of people bothering RDI's. Disrespect for them has been growing lately as many of you can see and i'm glad to see something done about it. This isn't a swords only problem as duelers in the other sports of Rhydan can see. I dont care about what the people accused have to say because the RDI's have takenalot of slack lately and for something to be done they must have done something worthy of their punishment. I hope to see punishments in the future for cases like this and to make the statement that the RDI's are not here to be pushed around or annoyed but rather help us enjoy the sports that we love. -Falablah Dalegate soon to be Warlord of Swords Emerald of Fists Wizard of Magic

Twits, buffoons, and morons in general--I'll make a few things clear, oh ye of little..intelligence. First, I do not partake of this garbage any longer--I've better things to do. Second, Brian, why..because it annoys you, of course. Why else would I insist broaching these Arenas? Third, Perhaps when Alais develops a backbone, she'll be able to crawl back to her formerposition. Lastly, I stand by actions, and remain in firm belief that Lord Dalamar won those matches with assistance.~Zaradda Eltorch((Really, people. This entire thread is sickening--there's numberless refrences to the "bashing" log, thus furthering my belief that a great deal of you have no idea what boundaries seperate the IC/OOC realms. All Kayne and Zaradda did was jeer a bit at Alais--these responses obviously contain OOC malice in them, which. . .Ah hell, forget it. ~J))

Gods, this is truly disgusting....due to both content and size.

I want nothing to do with any of this, as it usual, and as ny who know me will tell you, but I feel I must say this.

Kayne and Rad have gotten theirs. They will get no more punishment, so pointing out more of their faults will get you nowhere. Also, you will never convice them that they were in the wrong, so you may as well save yer paper and/or breath and just give up the ghost.

Alais, I'm sorry you have to go though this, you know we all love ya, girl. :) BTW..Didn't you get accused of this once before? Or was that someone else? Anyhow, it dosen't matter, because it's all a load of bunk, and I really don't care.

If I remember correctly, there were at least two more people being very harassing toward Alais and other RDIs.

Why were they not banned?

::carefully underlines a few lines from Mimi's post and uses them for her own reply::

At the risk of stoking the fire...

>>As a community, we have laws that govern us, to protect us and allow us to peacefully try to co-exist. Not everyone will get along, not everyone embrace honor, dignity, and fair play. But it will not be tolerated to have slanderous words, or a show of disrespect against the staff of the Red Dragon Inn.<<

Mimi (and everyone else), please know this is in no way meant as an accusation...but is this statement you make entirely true? Surely we all must be prepared that not everyone here will act the way we do, the way we are accustomed to, or the way we want them to. Does that mean that those who don't follow our standards are completely and utterly wrong, with no possibility for redemption? I know that Rad and Kayne are only suspended, not expelled
permanently. But what if their opinions were, indeed, their opinions of Alais' character and integrity? If they said what they said with belief behind their words, would the same thing have happened? Or are they more demonized by this community for speaking of such things in jest?
And as for the laws that "govern us, to protect us and allow us to peacefully try to co-exist" ....are they the same laws that require us to take into our own hands the solving of these murders we have seen? The old woman...the child...the threats of "Die Die Die" and "This could be your wife"?

:::Wanders inta Rhydin from a very long Journey, and hears of the happenings::
::A slow forming grin makes way across his face::

::Reads over the Lady FoxGirl's response::

Ya and Kayne Rune seem ta haveth a belief wherest Respect, Honour and Integrity stand relative ta each individual, and therefore can be bended about ta fit one's own need.
Welst, m'lady, Honour and Integrity are forever constant, and unyielding.
Ya cannot talk bout them, and say they are relative ta thee individual, fer they are not.
They be not one moment this, and fer this person that, and another this, fer some things simply cannot be interpeted as ya would like them ta be.

A referee, the true fabric of the Duel of Swords, should be shown the respect they have earned, in assuming the demanding role they play fer all of us.
Although the act of saluting a judge and yer opponent before a duel varies from individual to individual, the gesture in itself is one of them constant, never changing signs of one's own Respect and Honour--that show just that---RESPECT + HONOUR.
Ya acted in bad form, and now ya must pay a price.
So, try as ya may, ya cannot bend what honour and integrity are bout ta help ya out of this one. The Honourable people that reign in this land will not allow ya ta do that.

So Kayne, ya learn yer lesson here, return with a new sense of respect toward the referees, else meet another deserving fate to be dealt out by those that govern over this land.
T'is as simply as that.
Argue not ta yer case, fer the people in this land aren't as foolish as ya seem ta think.

A wise man, wants ta be corrected when he has committed a wrong.
He will listen, and will learn from t'all.
Good luck ta ya Kayne Rune.

And in thinking bout the one called Zarrada, ::offers up a slight chuckle::
::Then raises a brow, thinking ta himself if FoxGirl resembles what Zaradda would be should he wear a dress, before walking away::

Respectfully,

::Taking a moment while her husband and daughter slept, her own rest fitfull at best since the incident on her own doorstep. She makes her way into the Arena and over to the message board, reading over the various missives and such, finding where her own words will best be placed.::To all and sundry: As a witness to what did occur, and other incidents involving the principles of this post, I must add my heartfelt support to Lady Helix's decision. I have never in my life encountered such obvious maligning of character as I did that night and I agree that persons who do such should be censured to the fullest extent of regulations of the sport.Ally: If you will note my statement above, I refer only to the regulations of the sport, not the laws of the land... My own husband did once try to bring some level of law and order to this Arena, and he was vilified for his efforts. The majority of the dueling community has spoken, and this Arena... in fact all areas connected in any way to the Red Dragon Inn... are to remain lawless. Only the regulations immposed by the Inn's representatives, the RDI's, shall ever be any form of law. Personally, I shall do everything I can to see to it that none of the people that I love shall be harmed... and that the swiftest retribution shall fall upon any who would harm those I care about. In the end, I suppose that is all any of us can do.

He steps down into the Arena during a mid-morning break from work. His wide, colorless eyes taking in the few things that had changed since he left, he moves to the announcement boards just to keep up to date. His fingers trace his reading from post to post, left to right, top to bottom, he pauses over the announcement of suspensions, this having been the first time in his long history here that he's ever seen such a thing.
He drops his hand from the board, reading over the beginning and ensuing posts... angry words, harsh lessons learned, disgust... more angry words. He slips his hands into the pockets of his soft leather jacket, the one with an eight-sided grey star embroidered over the right breast, a bit amazed it still fits after all the years. Shaking his head and noting consciously for the first time that his vision is no longer partially obscured by strands
of stringy brown hair. He had cut his hair much shorter soon after leaving the Duel of Swords, his appearance now much as it had been when he first entered the Arena as a "Rookie".
Nova Grey Shadow spreads his hands while they remain in his pockets, his mouth opening partially as if he were about to speak but could not find the words. His jacket opening as his hands spread to reveal a worn t-shirt bearing the words "Duel of Swords Arena", he bows his head for a moment to collect his thoughts... turning from the board.
"And people wonder why I left," he mumbles to himself, taking the stairs two at a time and slipping out through the Inn.

::very softly he spoke as Nova finishes his words::

From your comments, I think you do not know exactly what has happened. To clarify, although this sounds like an excuse: I said nothing against Alais or anyone else, and there are many who know this.
>> Welst, m'lady, Honour and Integrity are forever constant, and unyielding.
Ya cannot talk bout them, and say they are relative ta thee individual, fer they are not.<<
I disagree with you there, sir...they are relative. And it's a scary thought, since there are evil creatures out in the world who believe they act with utmost honor and right on their side.

~Drake
With the many people in Rhydin, and their varied backgrounds...it is indeed a shame that our laws can never be solidified and we all must take our own revenges and protect ourselves and our loved ones.
