A messanger made his way into the Outback. The messanger's name was Thomas, a young fellow given the task of relaying messages between the patrons of the Outback and the absent Kyttnayah. He pushed a shock of dark brown, unruly hair from his wide blue eyes to search the interior of the dojo. His job was to find the tall, blond Avery Shiv Blade. The felinoid had left word that Shiv Blade was the Brute of the week and should be honored with the belt buckle that proclaimed the date he'd won the honor. Due to delays in overland mail, the infomation had reached Thomas a few weeks late. Thomas' oblique smile was offered to Avery honestly. "'Cuse me, sir? But this 'ere award's for you." He presented the buckle and when opportunity offered itself, slipped off into the night.

::taking the belt into his hands, and allowing a slight smile to come to his face as he muttered to himself::I just enjoy fighting. But this...this is an honor that i will cherish. i guess i must be doing something right to be given an honor like this. ::putting the belt on, his hand slowley brushes his swolen face::To think all these wounds actually count for something. Yet i have gained something more than just the Brute of the week award...i have gain a little bit of knowledge in the ring.::shouting out to the messenger::I shall wear this with Honor.....Thank youAvery Shiv BladeHouse of the Blades

Not long after Thomas had received the first message from Miss Kyttnayah, he received another. "Blimey!" The lad exclaimed. "I 'ave to go ask Mr. Rask fer another o' them shiny buckles already!" Thomas scurried down the path to the busier streets not far from the small church he lived and work in along side the fathers and sisters. He ran for the joy of running, not out of any fear and skidded to a halt, finally, in front of the Outback's offices. He rapped on the door, his shirtsleeve falling back to reveal a young, but already muscled forearm. "Mr Rask sir! 'Cuse me, but 'as you got another buckle?" Indulgently, Rask opened the door. Thomas knew that Rask recieved word from Kyttn that he would be taking care of presentations in her absence from the Outback. "Hang on a sec, Tom... I'll be right with you." Rask finished up some paperwork (making him wonder why he'd taken this job over from Robert Braxxx in the first place ;D) and grabbed a form from the desk drawer. "So, where's the slip, Tom?" Thomas handed over the paper, officially marked with Kyttn's Emerald seal. He watched Rask transfer the name of the new Brute and the dates to the form. "Alright Tom, take this to the small sports shop down the street. They'll engrave the new buckle while you wait. Once they give it to you, they'll give you the pink part of this form - bring it back to me, got it?" "As always, Mr Rask-sir!" "Good lad." Rask smiled and Thomas ran off. Not long after... Thomas thumped down the stairs where several of the Outback's patrons were exercising in the open door, daylight hours policy of the dojo. He searched carefully and saw the musician AnomWho, stretching in the corner. "Mr Anom! 'Ere!" He ran across the room to present the buckle, engraved with the past week's date, nearly tripping on overlong pants legs. "Congratulations, sir!" Leaving the buckle in AnomWho's capable hands, Thomas smiled widely and darted up the stairs to make his way back to the Church in the Wood.

The reports were in and this week it was Deuce Mack for winning two hard fought battles; one against an Emerald. Thomas didn't know this person, but he looked over the small image that Ms. Kyttn had sent him. About all Thomas could make out was the red bandana Deuce apparently always wore. "Coo, but that's a getup 'eh?" The boy thought to himself and made his way through the crowd of patrons to find the one named Deuce and give him the Brute of the Week award.

Hanging 'round, downtown by himself, the young thug was high off too much caffeine. While he was thinking about himself, the circumstances that brought him here, and the mad honeys he had seen around town, he started to make his way back to the park.

As he crossed the last street, a young kid ran up to him, handed him a box and mumbled some sort of congratulations.. and something about his bandanna. Holding it away from his body after the boy ran off, Deuce opened it carefully and found the shiny buckle. Amazed at how these people from the Outback (apparently- that's what it said on the tag) could afford to just give it away, he immediately started thinking about what he could hock it for if
need be.. but then maybe, just maybe, he'd hang onto it for awhile. One never knows when a belt will break.

The mercenary watched Kyttn send the small messanger boy off once again with a shiny new belt buckle. He peered down to his shiny pen with a crooked grin, pondering the trouble the small writting implament will get him into. He motioned the felinoid over to the bar for a drink, giving her his best grin as he spoke. "Ya know," he began as she neared, the pen held loosely between two of his fingers as he held it up andcontinued, "this won't do a damn thing fer my pants." Winking, the elven rogue got to his feet and sauntered over to the large corkboard, leaving the lovely Kytten to her tall glass of milk.

Thomas got Ms. Kyttn's note, her being away on a walkabout an' all, about the Brute of the Week. This one was unique because it was written oddly on an old tattered napkin. Unlike all the others, this one she must have left in the church's mail box herself. Thomas marvelled. He'd been that close to seeing her again. "Blimey," he murmured. The napkin was bordered with vines bearing white and yellow Jasmine blossoms. Though torn and stained, Thomas could see that it once must have been lovely indeed. There was a single name upon it, Xreek, and the appellation: BoW scrawled in her feline hand. Thomas nodded, filled out the right forms and made his way to the engraver's. After that, he would take the buckle and go find Mr. Xreek who deserved to be awarded the Brute Buckle for putting in an excellent effort over the week. The napkin Thomas slid into his pocket to keep for himself.

Shaun Lankford (ShaunLnkfd) was the name listed on the buckle. Thomas held it a while. He'd gotten the note from Ms. Kyttnayah a while ago, but he'd held onto the buckle longer this time. She had said he must give out the award promptly and with as much politeness as possible but he was trying to figure out how someone who'd lost most of their duels in a week had gotten the brute award.Slowly as he walked toward the Outback, he pondered the notion that it wasn't just Winners who got the Brute award, although Mr. Lankford had done that, winning that is, and well; even if he wasn't all that much bigger or broader than young Thomas himself. It was those who were there, night after night and pushed themselves to better themselves. Thomas nodded, his small chin firm. "I'll be one of those duelers one day, I will," he told himself quietly aloud. "I knows I can!" He reached the dojo doors and ran inside waving the buckle award. "Mr. Lankford! Congratulations sir!" Thomas skidded to a halt. The Outback was unusually empty. Now how was he supposed to find Shaun Lankford?

Andrew Forcer. Sounded like the name of a man who could fight in the rings. Young Thomas wondered why the name was in his head until he realized that the paper he'd fallen asleep on had Andrew Forcer's name on it. He needed to get it to the engraver so that another Brute of the Week award could be given out and he'd fallen asleep! He was late!! Never mind that Ms. Kyttnayah's note had come late, it would be hisfault if he didn't get the Buckle to the Winner of the Brute and quickly. Having been at recipie typing for hours, hunt and peck style, of course, Thomas scrubbed the sleep from his eyes and ran down the stairs from the friar's room where he used the computer. Ms. Kyttnayah had left it for him. (The friar's didn't call it an evil box, though there had been much discussion on that point before she was allowed to leave it. Friar Donald had suggested it would build character for the boy to learn new things and FriarDominic had insisted it might hold some of his recipies - the ones ever burgeoning from his worn and beaten box of papers and notes on feeding over a hundred priests, friars and school boys. He didn't mind typing in the recipies, but sometimes Friar Dominic's hand writing was less legible than it should be and a young lads eyes get tired after hours of deciphering sauces, tablespoons and dashes of salt.)Thomas skidded into the closed and locked door of the engraver's shop. "What th-?" He blinked and looked up. "''E'vens! It's nearly 'alf past six! Lord I'll be late for vespers..." So it was, that Andrew Forcer had to wait on a young lad's folly and the lateness of relays of RhyDinNet's email system from a wandering felinoid. But the Brute of the Week award was delivered and in shiny new condition, engraved with the Legend: Andrew ForcerDuel of Fists Brute of the Week6-24 thru 6-25 with the year below in stylized letters. ((Author's Note: apologies for lateness, as the story of Thomas continues... ))

As he comes home from work Andrew opens his front door and looks in the mailbox. He pulls out a box addressed to him in fancy letters. He opens the package and pulls out an engraved buckle. On the back it says:

Andrew Forcer
Duel of Fists Brute of the Week
6-24 thru 6-25

On the bottom it shows the year is stylized letters.

He smiles and speaks to himself, "Wow...what a great honor."

Andrew runs upstairs and puts it in a cabinet on a slanting tray that holds it up and takes a step back smiling at it.

Xerzes Helmut Maureen. Thomas marveled at the name alone. Not many folks got to see the names of registered duelers and some never used their real names, only initials or nicknames. He puzzled over the name a while as it shined in deeply engraved letters on the back of the fancy Brute of the Week award. He was careful to wear the gloves he'd gotten last week to keep his fingerprints off the buckles. He thought there should be a boxor something to hand the buckle over in, but after all, these were fighting men who didn't really need boxes and wrapping and pretty ribbons. Still.. it would have looked nice, the boy thought. Thomas didn't think much about the man he was to give the award to, not this time. He was thinking more about the glory of winning the buckle... the pain of the dueling - surely it must really HURT to get hit in the rings. These people threw punches at one another...even at women! They didn't hold back and it wasn't just wrestling. The Friars weren't sure they approved fully of Thomas' being there week after week to give out the award. Sometimes, one of the older, wiser Friar's would tag along to keep an eye on the boy and on the duelers. Of course, Brother Patrick rarely spoke but his sharp, strangely mismatched eyes missed nothing. Thomas nearly bumped into Mr. Maureen and stammered an apology as he held out the buckle. "You've won it this week sir! Congratulations!"((Author's note: somehow, I forgot to post this in the boards ))

On one of his usual wanderings,he enters the Ouback, not surprised in the least by it's lack of patrons, and notices some older writings about the Brute of the Week.He wonders why such a seemingly common practice would stop so abruptly. But,not really thinking he'd ever win it anyway,he walks on,saying nothing.((NOT A POST))

As he again wandered through The Outback,he stopped to glance at the notices about the Brute of the Week winners.Surprised,he looks closer at a notice about Andy winning the award for two weeks ago. However,he didn't see anything about the most recent week of dueling.Puzzled,he turned to walk out, almost walking into a young boy.Blinking,he recognized him from various descriptions as the kid who gave out the Award.Hearing him,he smiledpolitely and took the buckle."Thank you young man,"he said, figuring he'd love being called anything involving man.He then patted him on the head, followed by the boy leaving in what appeared to be quite a hurry.'Well, apparently I could win this after all,' he thought.Grinning,he attached it to his belt and walked out.((Don't really sound like a post,so i guess I should put NOT A POST,however other people could have been watching from the door or something.))
