You already know my opinion regarding your sword rattling. When I step into that ring it is to first, participate in a sport, second, to defend my right to the barony. I do not use my blade to arbitrate who has more right to hold or express an opinion. That is not what sportsmanship is about.
If you want to have a debate about politics or your opinions about people or issues, that battle is fought right here, right now, with a pen and your wits as your weapons.

Actually, Huma, AJ did not defend his ring. Dalamar interceded on AJ's behalf and defended AJ's ring for him. And, I gather, it was AJ's request.

I cast no aspersions toward anyone. In fact, I rather chided all sides for casting such aspersions with no cause. It was you who chose to insult me, and I have not replied in kind. In fact, I have been equally harsh with Var for the aspersions he has cast at you, and I have told him to either put up or shut up. It seems to me that both sides here, those supporting Var and those attacking him, are doing it largely for the sake of the insults

When Barons sink to exchanging insults without attempt at reasonable discourse, and choose to continue the conflict when other alternatives are presented, the sport suffers. Illiteracy is a very real problem. I applaud anyone who rises above it and refuses to be bound by it. I believe Avery does very well for himself.
Agism abounds. I admit that I sometimes have little understanding for certain parents letting their children fight among adults. However, I applaud any young mind eager to participate in this fast-paced environment. I believe Christopher to be more than intellectually and educationally capable than many other normal twelve-year-olds.
My criticism was not that they spoke up or were honest about what might be perceived as short-comings. My criticism was that they expected a double standard: they both appeared to not want to be judged by their potentially perceived disabilities but yet were more than willing to bring them up to defend themselves against criticism in order to make the people who responded to them as adults feel guilty.

There is nothing wrong with being direct. However there is a great deal wrong with being abusive on a regular basis, with no other justification than the fact that you seem unable to argue or debate without becoming abusive. Please forgive me if I find it difficult to accept behavior unworthy of a Baron from a Baron. I just think the sport deserves better.

Christopher walked back to the board. His body somewhat exhausted as he pined up another letter to the already numerous amount. It had taken nearly half an hour to read all the messages to Avery. Once that was done they spent the next hour in silence, Avery just staring off into space. Christopher sat there, his hand ready to make that first strike. Then he started, and scrambled to put

Before I go onto telling you why I said some of those things, I wish to clear up a few notions. First, after talking with Christopher, I will except your apology for the criticism you made. For those asking that I wanted pity, I only wonder what you have been reading. I have never, I repeat never made any attempt to hide what some call a handicap. If you grew up on your own, if you grew up not knowing what your next meal was, or even in a slave camp
like I, then you too would have found reading and writing rather useless. I never asked any ones pity over this. From what Christopher told me of his letter, either has he. I would like to thank Dal for retracting his words so quickly, for at stake was the issue of a young man. A young man with nothing to do with this, save for being my messenger, and friend. With that...
Dal, you wonder how all those ramblings of words applied to you?
All of them Applied in one very easy way. Who are you to judge the worth of one man. Who are you to say Var is a little man. Now yes... you have your own opinions, but then who are you to say he has a little blade also. Yes you are the overlord. Yes you have proven yourself in battle. But I stick with the points I made, and will make again, that Var has just as much talent as most everyone in this great arena. He has not a little sword he has great
sword in "Fallen Crew" that lead him onto his baronial ring. That skill alone shows he has a good blade. My point earlier is that if you believe Var to have no skill then you chastise the entire public. So yes... you do take on this I am better than you attitude. For you believe that you are in the position to degrade the mans blade. And if you look you will understand, that the rest of those pieces are directed at that.
To you I ask why I would be better to serve purpose to your statement. because I am a Wl. Do I not have skill now.. Why is it that I might be a little man. Because I rose to arms when it was called. Because I have a "beef" with you. I am curious. On the side, I think there are enough people around here that do think Skill is a measure of Rank. Your own loyal being one. If one did not have the skill then they could not rise... you stated it this
in your last attempt. So let me ask you Lord, why is it that Var has a little blade. Let me ask you to better explain that one. For I don’t see any way that you can justify your reason.
You are a misguided ruler, and this is easily shown by your next remark. You state something to the fact, that I should do some more research. Well I do remember that situation, I was a baron at the time after all. This is why you are misguided. You put the crown into jeopardy for the sake of one alliance. For something that no longer even exists for your benefit. Perhaps there would be a Baron that does not deserve the crown. One who is a
tyrant. No not just a renegade... for most of those have opposing views than you. But perhaps a killer. what if he were to challenge. What if he were a baron. Now you could not test that man. The test is not just for skill, it is to test the "being" To weed those people out. That is why it is a test of worthiness. Now, you can't even use it. You were misguided in that decision you made. To help serve one issue at the time. Perhaps if it were not to
just get Kalamere back to your side it might be different, but the cons, out weigh the pros on this one. Perhaps if you looked past the end of your nose you might see that mistake and except it.
You are wrong Lord. The ring is a part of us. Who would you be without it. What would you be. Yes you would still be a man, but you would have not obtained what you have. you would not have gotten the fame, or wisdom, or perhaps the finely tuned skills. The ring gave you those. It made you into the OL. And while you pity me for believing this, the double edged sword strikes out. For I pity you for not giving the respect, and credit to it. For
even being able to wield a blade, affects all your other traits. While it may not be the most defining, where would you be without it.
In every response I have ever made to you my Lord, I have always made it a point to show you the respect I hold for you. While over the days I have grown to dislike you more, that does not mean I disrespect you. My words do not contradict me in this. It is your ideas, and there words, that I hate. A part of you. Yet you as the whole person I have nothing but respect for. To handle the crown for a year, and prove yourself worthy. I hold respect
for you. I hold respect for you as my enemy. Does that mean I am the better person? That is for the Gods to decide, for I too have my shortcomings. I am saddened that you No longer respect me. I never said that a Baron could act liek a child. I said it was fine to have opinions, and even state them. But rest assure someone else will react. Ta problem be with this whole argument is that anyone who done sat ta Sartan on their lap and took a good look at his big ole puppy dog eyes knows he be ta sweetest little whelp of a wicked bladed Baron I ever done seen.

My original argument in this whole thing has been "certain barons can dish it out, but when criticism reaches them, they are unable to handle it."
From what I've read, Overlord Dal and Baron Sartan were both presented their harsh words, but then deny and construe it in another way to avoid being ridiculed.
Now if I recall, Sid, Noelle has shown how Sartan's remarks don't bother her. So where's the hypocrisy?
Well, in my eyes, I think you just wrote some yourself. You compliment Sartan for his words to Noelle, when you think you know her, but then when I make a remark about Morgan, you asked what she did?
Honestly, Sid, have you read EVERYTHING written so far? I can name two posts, one towards Percival and one towards a twelve year-old, where she has made remarks.
You say how my insults are so immature, when I have to look at Dal's. While he claims that he didn't realize it was a twelve year old who wrote the post (I'm not disputing whether or not he knew), he still tried to fling an insult out towards the grammar enclosed. You don't want to be called a blind follower, at least open your eyes.

How many times have you seen Dal actually post concerning these situations, especially using harsh words? Not very many. You go off to pay your respects to your recently deceased father, and then come back to a barage of accusations, some of which extremely insulting, such as that your father in fact did *not* die, but you lied and used it as an *excuse* not to duel. Then when the Barons' Council makes a decision that the rest of the community doesn't
like, YOU get all of the flack. Supposed friends turn on you, try to MAIM you, for the gods' sakes, and all of this is supposed to be your fault, for going to attend your own father's funeral, rather than smack someone around with your sword when they demand it. Wouldn't you be sick and tired of it?
Anyway, getting to Noelle's remarks. Do you have a selective memory? Noelle's remarks are not reserved solely for the cork board. Her nose has been firmly planted in the lives of many a duelist in the Arena. Even myself. I assure you, if I had everyone who's had to tell Noelle to mind her own business add their name to a list stuck to this board, you'd have quite a list indeed.
And what you don't even notice is that she's making a hypocrite and a fool out of you. You keep defending her even when she's wrong, and she's figured out that she can get away with anything, so she's going to keep doing it. It's not like you have to "punish" her or anything. Just stop protecting her when you know she's wrong.

Ye make a fine argument up until dis last paragraph. Just as ya commend Dalamar fer honorin' his dead father's memory, I must commend Var fer defendin' his wife's honor. I would do no less fer Summer - right or wrong as she is. My wife NEVER shames me, embarasses me, nor will she ever. And quite frankly if havin' ta defend her meant havin' all of DoS hate me I'd still not waver in my loyalty ta her.
Granted I have issues with Lady Noelle's choice of words, especially since she is not apart of da duelin' community; but if Var puts all of his respect on da line ta defend his wife, I'd say he leaves with double his bet.
