it was almost time to sell the Outback

Post by DoF Archive » Sat May 15, 2004 11:53 pm

Date: 5/5/2000 4:41 PM Central Daylight Time
From: Mister Rask

The last day. It had taken him a couple of months to get all of the paperwork through. Fortunately, most of the people Rask worked with didn't care that he kept on showing the same signature of Matthew Simon. Tonight Rask would finally meet with Mr. Skeith and have the last piece of paper officially documented.

There was some part of Rask that felt a little bad about passing the entire debt of the Outback over to Matt. He had always been a good worker, and an excellent assistant. Beyond that, he stepped into the ring more than Rask ever would. He didn't seem to have any major enemies, at least not ones that frequented the Outback.

And, Rask considered him a friend. Who better to leave in charge of the Outback? Sure, at first Matthew would probably be a little angry at being handed this huge debt. He would probably be a little angry about not being consulted on it as well. But, in the long run, Rask was confident that Matthew would realize it was for his own good.

After all, he wasn't asking for any money from Matthew. He wasn't secretly selling him the Outback. He was just secretly... giving him the Outback, and any monetary situation that came along with it.

Despite what he often said, the Outback actually did manage to make some money every now and then. How did everyone think he was able to pay off that Layne fellow for the bar? Sure, Rask had delayed that, but only because he had the money in an interest-bearing account and really didn't want to remove it before it matured.

Indeed... in time Matthew would be happy he had the Outback. In a couple of years he would have a nice nest egg. Assuming that he went about things correctly. And if he didn't, Rask couldn't very well be blamed for that could he?

Only a couple of more hours before Rask would head over to the empty Outback. If there was one thing you could be sure of, there wouldn't be anything going on in the Outback on a Friday night.

Rask decided to go for a walk, reminding himself that he had to go look at the message board again someday. He had been so busy, he hadn't had a chance to look it over in what seemed like a couple of months. Regardless, it wasn't that important. Rask was about to give the Outback to Matthew Simon for free! He walked off, content that in this matter of money he was going to be the good guy for a change.
