::her feet slipped from beneath the covers of the gray dark room, three of the other warm bodies already had left, she was leaving two behind. She bent, silvers picking out her cloak and her latex outfit. The cloak was pulled on and clasped, her boots were stuffed on her feet, but her outfit was simply strewn over arm as she stalked out into the night, carrying one more
extra piece than what she'd come with. She told G'nort that she'd get herself a rapier, too bad she had to sleep with the guy to get it. Not that he was that bad looking, nor where the other women she'd shared him with.. but to waste that time doing someone she wasn't even interested in. Oh well.. she had bigger things to worry about.

The sword was tossed in it's sheath over her cloak, it was much too bulky to actually wear it underneath as it would only end up making her walk funny. It wasn't like the guy would put two and two together and figure her to be the thief, after all, no one really knew anyone much at all, it had been a bunch of drunk people led up to a room and three people had left before her. The way she saw it, she was home free. Speaking of home..

The neon flash of The Pink Flamingo was reflecting in silver pupils as she made her way up and in, making sure to keep tight hold of the cloak through the nexus and down the street to home. It was a while later with a glass of whiskey on the side of the tub, and hot bubbly water all around her that she finally began to relax a little. She'd gotten enough sleep to handle everything well, but she was nervous as hell trying to pull this off without
the help of her older brother.

The bath was left with much regret but she had to get to work, the sun was coming up. The black latex outfit, her new one for work, was carefully pulled on and zipped up, the grey accents making her smile. Sometimes she felt so arrogant and princess like when she picked out new clothes, but she deserved it!

Her cloak was left behind, there was no one she was going to allow it to get hurt, it was her favorite after all, the velvet black exterior and silver lining was perfect for every situation. She had her trusty Beretta in her right shoulder harness, and her whip curled on her left whip, boots with the thick heels, and her hair drawn up in a bun. She went through the mental checklist as she slipped out onto the dusky streets of RhyDin once more to
insure to herself that everything was in order. She was nervous enough to be sure, she'd discussed the job previously with her contractor, but now it was time to go through.. time to go back and gather the necessary items to get the job done with.::

Ya late.

::she snorted, eyeing the strange, gangly thing that didn't quite appear to be human, and not quite troll either:: You're breaking my emaciated heart. Let's just go.

::he sneered at her with sharp teeth and handed over the small vial she had begun to dislike. With a shudder she downed the liquid inside, contemplating in his silence the first episode in which she'd met him::

(cue flashback with a cheap star wipe)

You want me to do what? ::she snarled at him untrustingly and turned to go::

He'll make it worth your while. ::she had turned to listen vaguely as it had been the promise of reward that had brought her out in the first place::

So what's with the six demon bag? ::sarcasm never escaped her when she was annoyed:: And why do I have to drink something just to see him? Why can't he meet outside like normal people?

::he was amused, ignoring most of her words and just held out the vial patiently::

Dranahcus appearing outside of his realm would only cause a stir and rile up suspicions that he had a hand in the theft of the circlet. ::he was speaking to her like one would when trying to convince a three year old that the medicine was good for them::

::she had finally broken down and drank the liquid, shuddering.. much like she was now::

Long tapered fingers rapped lightly along his desk as he waited for the human and his servant to show up. He was impatiently patient at times like these, old age having taught him well. He peered down to those fingers admiring the lack of wrinkles that should have been there. He was old beyond his time, but
that was the beauty of being a sorcerer, age was an option. At a cost of course, but then again, he always was absorbed with his looks.

Everything looked the same since she had last been there, books and papers were still strewn everywhere and the rest of the meeting office was pretty much bare bones. Literally.

When she stepped into the office it was like stepping into a graveyard of sorts, bones for the floor, bones for the walls, and even the chairs were delicately made out of the curved smooth ivory of bones. He had made a show of leaving several human skulls on his desk and a femur bone on the chair so that she had to move it before sitting, to her grace she simply moved it to the side and sat smoothly. He had been somewhat impressed.

He sighed in the silence, shifting once more with his impatience, he had much spells and such to be working on, but this meeting was important enough. He was irate about having to hire anyone outside his realm to pull off this important task in the first place but such matters had to be handled delicately. It was the icing on the hatred cake though to have to hire a mere human with whom he detested most of all, but the woman had come highly
recommended from another sorcerer, whom had received good recommendation off of another highly respected friend. So with much resignation, he'd sent to find and hire her.

The ebony trails of his hair drifted down his chest from over his shoulder to distract him when Gohlda and Caedia showed up. He stood politely and admired her 'work' uniform. Humans were so amusing, but sometimes attractive too.

"Welcome, Thorn. I appreciate your efforts.. now let us talk." He was also simplistically to the point with these sorts of things, and she seemed more than eager for him to stay that way as she lowered herself into her seat as before, focused upon him wholly.

"In the bag by your chair you'll find the items needed to pull off your task. I contracted an ex servant of Jeyara's to draw us up a map of his place as you asked. Everything else should be in order. Is there anything else you need clarified?"

She leaned over to observe the bag and it's contents for a few minutes, discerning what was what and their uses. He already knew that the amulet for fire prote

In the darkness of his home office, the only light in the room being the light from his laptop computer, he was typing rapidly. So intent on the program he was working on, that it wasn't until the third time his wallscreen beeped at him that he even heard it at all.

Mildly irritated, eyebrows creasing downward due to what undoubtedly would be an unneeded interruption, he called out without even looking to see who this call was from. "Screen On. Audio only."

"Silmen Felembi, there is a job for you. We require your expertise in 'Acquisitions.'"

"Ya ba?"

"We are transmitting the data to you as we speak. It is encoded in the usual fashion. Peruse at your leisure. But we need an answer quickly."

Clicking in a few keystrokes swiftly, the transmitted data scrolled by. After so many years, he was able to read databits as fast as it came on screen. The photographic memory didn't appear to hurt much, either. After a short time, he frowned.

"This information... this job.. it scans, utterly. Why do you want something so useless? Wait, gwok that. That's not my business."

"You name your fee, we will pay. The item is not for you to worry about, getting it to us is. That is why we hire you."

"Yeah, I know. But this is sorcerer. I hate magic users. I can do, but this will cost you a bit more ... say, 1.5 the usual fees." He replied without looking at the screen, clicking away at his keyboard.

He was met with silence. But he knew they were there, muting him from their side to discuss his terms. But he also knew that they'd accept them. He was one of the best for a reason, and his fees were always conservative. Perhaps sometime he'll charge an extravagant amount for his skills instead of what it cost for some lavish comfort and new gear.

He heard the tell tale buzz that meant he was taken off of mute.

"Your terms are adequate. Payment will be sent to..."

"No, send my payment to a new location. I will transfer the codes to you now through your intermediary. It will be the usual deal. Half up front with option of retrieval should the job hose. But payment completed upon delivery of item. Agreed?"

"Agreed."

"As always, a pleasure doing business with your syndicate."

And with that, he clicked the wallscreen off. He had to smirk in self-confidence. He always seemed to enjoy showing who was in control of the conversation with these rich, greedy, Euro-trash bureaucrats. The kind who think that money can buy and control everything. He honestly believed that they had no idea that he knew where to find them.

Perhaps someday, he'll pay a visit to their towers.

But for the time being, he had this sorcerer to deal with.

"Waste of my talent, taking from this type. This scans. Scans utterly."

::the job was simple enough: Sneak into the castle, swipe the circlet of something or other (she never could remember the names very well, just that it was silver and gold, highly designed with lots of etching, and would be held in a certain room. Somehow make it out alive, (which should be pretty easy barring any chance encounters with mean looking slobbery troll like
guys. That's what the problem was when working for sorcerers and the likes.. they tended to have bigger, worse things crawling about than plain ol' humans::

Okay.. let's see. Cloak of invisibility.. ::reading the list she asked for as she didn't want to stay in Dranachus' place any longer than necessary:: .. amulet ring thing of protection.. ::okay, so the list didn't say that, but she was examining closely the objects as she read so to affirm herself with everything:: .. and the bag. ::she picked the bag up, mildly amused and dissapointed that it wasn't a deep velvet blue with moon and stars on it.. it
was just a plain ordinary brown satchel. Blah. So much for making off with it. It's sole purpose was to take place of the lack of magic from Caedia. Since she wasn't a magic user, she couldn't slap a protection spell on it to avoid the circlet from being tracked, so the bag took over, being protected itself.::

Right. ::she pulled the map out to study it closely and wasn't too worried, it was a straight shot from the entrance basically. There were catacombs to be sure, but according to the ex servant, they were always blocked off. The entrance Caedia would be entering was an old, nearly forgotten tunnel that servants used to get in and out because the master caught them sneaking things out that they shouldn't and devised a new method of entry. Hopefully
he'd forgotten totally about that entrance for her sake::

And right about now is when I'd hoped Tareth would show.. ::she sighed as she stood up and brushed herself off, put the ring of protection in place, the cloak on and the bag slung to her shoulder harness. She felt naked without her usual bag of rope and other such tricks, but the job was supposed to be easy even if deadly dangerous.::

No time to turn back now. Onward we go. ::she loved talking to herself, it felt so much more.. reassuring.::

::it was the darkest of night, the pitfalls of shadows swollen with gloom and misfortune to those that dreamt wary into their passages. Light flickered out from various street lamps, some having blown out long ago, and some so dim that it seemed a futile battle with the oncoming oppression of bleak black. Boots treading upon the earth's surface, ignoring the cobblestone
path, had a muted sound to it, a dull thick wet stamp as if the fog surrounding thin ankles was a foot of water drenched mud rather than the drift of mist that it was.::

::trees loomed overhead, branches forking out in a claw like position as if to grab the woman beneath them. The onset of winter was responsible for the dank chill that tore through the air on the winds back, but fall was still accountable for the rustling of dry leaves that created a symphony of the night. The whispering wind and crunch of leaves was a soothing sound, but the occassional snap of a twig clawed down her spine like a wary cat.::

::she'd been traveling for what seemed like hours, lost in the throes of a midnight graveyard, battling the thorns of some stray branches that were coveting the one gate she had to climb over, and battling for vision in the cresendo of mist that came like the tides. The latest ebbing had played along her shoulders, giving her both the comfort of feeling completely masked and caressed by a long lost lover, and the eery feeling that anyone could be
around hidden as well. Silvers stayed sharp as she crept, nearly soundlessly, tapping out the memorized numbers of steps and whatnot with her gloved fingers.::

::it looked like an ordinary plot of land mixed between the back of a library and an inn that was still over crowded and noisy even this late at night. It looked like a regular small patch of untouched grass that lead to a wall of bushes that would serve as a gate of some sorts to make out a back yard. The bushes? They looked as though they'd grown wild for so many years that you couldn't tell where one began and the other ended. Looked being the
key. If she hadn't known to be on the look out for the green leaves with silver back sides, she would have totally missed her mark.::

::she checked one more time, whip on her left side.. gun on her right with the tied bag dangling, the cloak of invisibility was on, the ring amulet thing of protection was on, her hair was tight in it's bun, her latex in place.. she was ready to go. She didn't even need the map anymore as it was a pretty easy path to remember. She just had to watch out for enemies and traps and she'd be fine. Honestly, she was feeling confident, this was going to
be a quick in and out trip. It was nice to have this feeling, most of the time she was filled with a worried foreboding.. to have the chance to complete a job with a totally confident beginning was nice. Dread would just have to stay with someone else tonight.. like that hapless damsel in distress by the inn earlier::

::she pulled on the silvered leaves, delicately peeling only as far as she needed to peer into the area behind and was sorely dissapointed. It was just another grassy field laden with weeds galore in a golden medly. With a sigh she stepped forward onto the stony ground and slid herself between the bushes. She ventured another step forward with growing reluctance::

Of all the annoying idiotic sources, led me to the wrong stupid place. Crap.. and all this time wasted s--

::she'd taken another step inward.. and sucked in a breath rapidly, fighting the urge to scream::

If anything, it was his confidence that was his undoing. Of course, his confidence was well deserved. He was well educated, and when he had free time, he taught himself everything the Tamarind declared illegal, programs which hacked into other peoples systems.

This skill began at a youthful age, which managed to accumulate a small fountain of wealth that he used sparingly, and usually when he did spend, it was on the state of the art of the state of the art, things that the public wouldn't learn about for a minimum of five to six years. Gaining such items made what his chosen profession was much easier. And that lead to being "sponsored" by those of less than reputable companies.

In this case, it was the Legitimate Corporations, the high profile ones that needed a job done, but needed it handled with such care and randomness that no one would even come close to suspecting they'd had it done. In such cases, it was pretty easy to know who to turn to.

And that person was him.

He was packed for this "assignment" mostly before they'd requested his talents. In his line of work, one never fully unpacks, in case of needing to get moving once more at a moments notice. He had his night clothes, Neotrim Flash goggles which did more than just give him the ability to see at night, but the ability to analyze through solid objects, that came in handy should he be forced to take a hands on approach to something like an old fashioned
safe. For dealing with upscale security devices, his handy, dandy Tamago Q9:V 6.7 OS with voice activation and recording laptop device, which also folded into a smaller, pocket-sized form for easy transportation. All he really needed was an outlet to plug in to, and he was set.

Of course, this was after he got through the main gates. He was never one to keep to the shadows, unless the displacement mesh failed him. The Mesh was only needed to get him past any security cameras that might be working, it scrambled his appearance so that no modern cameras could pick his movement. Which didn't really help if he ran across a live person.

Of course, he has yet to do that.

His mission is begun.
