::a note written on parchment paper with a wax seal at the top, the initials reading SRH, is tacked to the boards, reading the following::

On the Night of
Sunday, the Twentieth of the month of January
I, Ms. Sarah Hunter, along with Jinn and Chris, did have the honor of officiating in the end of cycle Diamond Quest, this one fought in a round-robin format. The results are as follows:

The entrants were: Jaycy Ashleana, Magnus Highborn, Anubis Karos, Maetel, Dustin Manjahcapery, Matthew Simon, Tareth Thorn, and Janella Vallonia,

In round one, we had Jaycy and Matt fight down in the Pit alongside Tareth and Anubis. Dustin and Maetel took their fight to the Bridge and Janella and Magnus fought up on Styx. Matt won his duel 5-2, Anubis 5-3, Maetel 6-5, and Magnus netted himself a shutout, 5-0.

Heading in to Round 2, Matt, Anubis, Maetel and Magnus all are tied with one win, the others all had one loss.

The second round found Magnus and Maetel on the Fern and Anubis and Matt on the Ice Rink; meantime, Jaycy and Janella as well as Dustin and Tareth all went down in the Pit. And the result of this round finds Matt beating Anubis 5-1 for a 2 win record, leaving Anubis with a 1-1 record. Maetel won her battle with Magnus bringing her also to a 2-0 record and reducing Magnus’ record to 1-1; Janella brought her record up to 1-1 by winning her match
against Jaycy 5-3. Unfortunately, this left Jaycy in the hole at 0-2, and after Dustin beat Tareth 5-1, his record went to 1-1, and Tareth’s to 0-2.

Round THREE:
Matt and Maetel have records of 2-0, Anubis, Magnus, Janella, and Dustin are at 1-1, and Jaycy and Tareth trail with 0-2 records.

The duels in this round are Matt vs. Dustin on The Fern, Anubis vs. Janella in The Can, Jaycy and Maetel in Styx, and Tareth vs. Magnus on The Ice Rink. Results: Dustin (5-2), Anubis (5-1), Jaycy (5-2) and Magnus (5-4) all win.

Round FOUR:
The records show Matt, Maetel, Anubis, Magnus, and Dustin all tied for the lead with 2 wins and 1 loss, while Janella and Jaycy each have 1 win and 2 losses; poor Tareth can’t seem to win as his record is 0 wins and 3 losses.

This Round went as follows:
Dustin beat Anubis 5-2 in The Ice Rink
Tareth finally won against Janella 5-3 on the Fern
Matt beat Maetel 5-2 on the Bridge
AND Jaycy won against Magnus 5-4 in The Can.

Round FIVE:
The combatants are finally beginning to narrow toward a winner as Matt and Dustin have 3-1 Records, Maetel, Anubis, Magnus, and Jaycy show 2-2 records and Janella and Tareth are at 1-3.

In this round, Matt took his lead to 4-1 as he beat Magnus in The Ice Rink
Janella beat Dustin 5-3 in Red Sands
Jaycy won against Anubis 5-2 on The Fern
And Tareth improved his position by beating Maetel 5-3 on the Bridge

In the midst of Round Six, Magnus simply disappeared from his spot while fighting Anubis in Styx. When he did not return, his duels were expunged, leaving the new records entering Round Six as:

Matt 3-1
Dustin 3-2
Anubis 2-3
Janella 2-2
Jaycy 2-2
Tareth 2-2
Maetel 1-3

The results for duels in round six were:
Dustin over Jaycy in the Pool
Matt beat Tareth in The Can
And Maetel beat Janella in Red Sands

And Finally...Round SEVEN!

With records being basically set at
Matt in the Lead with 4-1
Dustin 4-2
Anubis 2-3
Maetel 2-3
Janella 2-3
Jaycy 2-3
Tareth 2-3

A win for Matt won the Quest, while a loss would force a one match winner take all brawl with Dustin, the only dueler to hand him a loss on the night thus far. The other brawlers watched as Matt and Janella pounded each other in a fast-paced match. Matt took an early lead, and in the midst of the duel, the lights were turned out leaving both duelers and spectators rather blind. Undeterred, Matt and Janella fought on, undaunted by their inability
to clearly see each other. When the lights returned, however, and the dust settled, one clear winner emerged.

As indicated by the ceremony that followed, Matthew Algiers Simon (5-1 officially, 6-1 overall) earned the right to become the Duel of Fists’ latest Diamond. Congratulations to all those present for a night of fun and intense matches, and to Matt for bringing home the title!
