The man trampled off his horse and landed flat on his back. His eyes held somewhat of a feared look. Katonahl walked to him and laughed as she stared down at the man.
"Tis nae funny, lass." he said. He sat up. "I 'ave a message for ye."
"What?" she continued to laugh.
He straightened his light cloak and stood. The frightened look within his eyes remained. For a long moment, he stared at her.
"Katonahl..." he whispered. "In me travels here to the land of Rhydin, I 'ave 'ad all I can muster. And furthermore, tis common knowledge that Marit is nae yer mother by blood. But she adopted ye and risked her own life to give ye freedom. I 'ave good news from the land of Abylynonia. Would ye care to hear it?"
"How do I know this news is true?" she asked, tilting her head.
He looked into her eyes. "Lady. I risked my life to come 'ere. Look!" He ripped the cloak off himself and exposed his arm. The seal of a dragon had been branded there as every individual born in the land of Abylynonia had the mark. "The King there is dead."
"What?" She gasped. "Tis me father ye give news about. How? When?"
"Come." He said. His eyes beckoned her toward the horse.
"Wait." She said. She pushed his outstretched arm away from around her shoulder. "The seal on yer arm...anyone can imitate it. I need further proof. I can be walking into a trap. Furthermore, what reason do I 'ave to go back? I was granted me freedom. I 'appen to like it 'ere."
"Katonahl, the deal was ...." he hesitated as he looked into her eyes once more.
"Katonahl, I am Sir Lemore Chelms." he stated. "I 'ave always been in love with ye since this high." He motioned a height which came to her waist level. She stared at his hands, then took the right of his and turned it palm up. She felt motionless. Slowly, her head came up with tears bunched in her eyes.
"So, tis ye. I do remember. And that vow we gave so many years back, I remember too." She let his fingers entwine between hers. "I'll go with ye. Ye saved me life too, I remember. I twas in a crush about ye. Then I 'eard ye were murdered. Then I heard ye were nae murdered. I 'ever knew what to believe."
He smiled wearily. "There is lot to tell. But, for now we must leave now. I am afraid there is a whole bandit of people afta me. Yer father's men." The two walked toward the horse and she laughed with tears. He helped her up on the horse and then boosted himself up as well. Then her laugh became delirious and it made him laugh. He was tired and slaphappy.
"Do nae refer to him as me father, Sir Lemore."
"Fine." he answered. "But do nae refer to me as Sir."
As they began to canter away, they could be heard laughing. A small imp had been hiding in the trees listening. His name was Clay. He had been following Katonahl for quite some time. Her mother, Marit, was his interest and a friend he never forgot. And his eyes twinkled when he heard the last of Sir Lemore's answer.
"Marit is doing fine. She plans to come back 'ere, I believe. She mentioned someone named Clay. She also mentioned another named Gauriel. And she mentioned many others. We shall find out when we return. Personally, I think she is crazy for wanting to come back 'ere. This is a verra crazy place that I do nae understand. We are Aztecdraconian's. This place is heinz. Some things called Orcs 'ave given their chase and many other creatures
too. I just want to be home. With ye, Katonahl."
"So, she has not forgotten about me." murmered Clay, the Imp. His smile broadened.
He hoped it would not be long for her to return. Marit had told him a great deal about her home. He almost felt as if it were his home too, but the only beings that could even be admitted were those of full Aztecdraconian blood.
"It's not over for her. The King still has his spell over that land. Such a pity and he is dead." he whispered. He glanced at the stone on his bracelet. It was Marit's bracelet.
The stone stared back at him with it's coal black color.
"When the stone is gold, the Shayde and the evil spell over Abylynonia is gone. There are only three of these bracelets existant Clay. Please hold this one for me and keep it safe."
Clay did not understand, nor did he think he ever would. Her land and the story behind it was too complicated for him. He only knew to keep the bracelet safe. Sir Lemore must have had one of the bracelets, for Clay knew that none from the land of Abylynonia could leave without it. The other bracelet had been the possession's of the King. What of it now?"
