Hear ye Hear ye!!

The Winner of the Challenge for the Eighth Ring is:

Methous of Amber!

He fought Loyal Baron Eros Hunrai Marzanhe DeBurgo and won in 13 close, hard fought rounds.

The night was balmy, the Annex milling with onlookers as the Baron of the Eighth Ring and his challenger prepared to fight for the right to wear the coveted circle.

Methous of Amber stood alone, yet confident, his trusted sword Angel at his side. His satin banner flew over the ring, the flag of Avalon: a black flag, with three red stars on it, and a half crescent under them.

Across the ring flew the Baron's Colors, the Banner of the 29th Overlord of Swords, Eros DeBurgo which was decorated with a background of white with three Stars in a triangle. One Black, One Red, One Gold. Floating between the stars is the word "triple" representing the three dueling crowns that the Druid has conquered. Eros Hunrai Marzanhe DeBurgo, the Loyal Baron of the Eighth Ring was seconded by Overlord Zen Rising, 34th Overlord of Swords who
stood ready to champion him as well, but stepped aside at the Baron's request. Mystik DeBurgo, his lovely wife, was his Lady of Honor and her soft spoken words of strength impelled him on.

The two fought with skill and honor. The duel was close, both men skilled and practiced, neither giving ground till the last two rounds.

Below is a recounting of the exciting duel in my own words. Congratulations to the new Baron who won the right to wear it with great skill, and to the honorable man who accepted the outcome with the grace of a true champion.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Challenge Rnd 1: Eros feints with a lunge but at the last minute glides to the side with smooth practiced grace as Methous drops to one knee to block the Thrust that never comes. No score
Challenge Rnd 2: Both blades flash up then down, crashing together as the powerful duelers test each others metal. No score
Challenge rnd 3: Again Eros feints a thrust, at the last second darting back and Ducking with impossible speed and grace. Methous, reacting to the threat dodges into a Stophit, blade up and ready to block the attack which never comes. No score
Challenge, Rnd 4: Again Eros lunges forward, but this time it is no feint! Mystik nights lunges forward under the command of its masters hand, but is turned aside as Angel spins down with impossible speed to block the oncoming attack. The scoreless tie has been broken! 1 Methous
Challenge, Rnd 5: Eros feints high and with smooth speed and practiced grace Mehous Ducks down to avoid the blow, but regrets the manuver immediately as at the last second Eros changes the angle of his attack and slices low and hard, drawing the duels first blood. 1 all!
Challenge, Rnd 6: Methous slams a high hard hitting cut towards Eros' head but slices only air as Eros drops down into a low defensive crouch with perfect timing (F) 2-1 Baron
DeBurgo
Challenge rnd 7: Eros slices low with Mystik Nights, but Methous spins Angel down again with smooth practiced speed and blocks the lowcutting blade. 2 all!
Challenge, Rnd 8: Eros slices high and hard with Mystik Nights, the blade a blur to fast to follow, Methous attempts to block but Angel doesnt get high enough to block the blade in
time to stop the hit. 3-2 Baron DeBurgo
Challenge, Rnd 9: Methous feints with a Thrust then glides smoothly to the side as Eros spins Mystik Nights down to parry air 3 All!
Challenge Rnd 10: Methous Cuts high and hard, connecting with Eros' shoulder despite his quick reactive Sidestep (F) 4-3 Methous
Challenge Rnd 11: Eros cuts Low with Mystik Nights, but Methous spins Angel down to block the attack. 4.5-3 Methous
Challenge Rnd 12: Eros feints a thrust and then ducks down with smooth speed and grace (F). Methous, reacting to the threat of the Thrust drops to one knee, attempting to block the blow which never comes. No change in score this round
Challenge Rnd 13: Eros slams Mystik Nights hard and high, connecting. But Methous, seeing the opportunity, takes the blow even as Angel sweeps low to connect and end the duel.
Final Score, Methous of Amber defeats Eros DeBargo, 5.5 - 4
RDI Vanssa: in 13 rounds.
To the New Baron of the Eighth.
If you survive the cycle of the moon, expect to stand across the ring from my blade at that time.
Hm...someone is a tad angry...
I give Met three weeks and a que of two. This is of course if Zen chooses to banish him.
Three weeks and only two in the que? Nah, everyone and their brother will be lining up to remove Meth from holding a title.
Methous,
Congratulations on your achievement, have fun fending off the challengers to come. However, take pride you have at least achieved the mantle of Baron, regardless of what the community thinks of you. Stand tall and proud and meet your foes honorably by the traditions of the rings.
Lord Methous,
Although I believe your timing in the challenge was a bit unfair--couldn't you even give Eros a week to enjoy the title?--you did win and thus have earned my congratulations. Fortunately for you assassins are not allowed in the Duel of Swords, as it would seem, from reading some missives on Ye Oldde Corke, there are a few whom are not very pleased with your winning.
My two coppers.
Meth~
Congratulations. I must be truthful in saying that I am not pleased, but it is more in Eros' losing than in your winning.
You have your chance to prove yourself, now, Meth. Don't squander it by falling back into your old routine.
My apologies, Sir Robert, I absent mindedly forgot of your earned title; please know you have all of my respect.
Well wishes,
