Avery awoke sometime in the late morning. Stretching his aching muscles, he rolled out of the bed at Oakenshield Manor. Casey had already gotten up, and was off somewhere around the house playing with Gabriel. Avery rubbed the sleep away, as he thought back to last night, and his search. The search that had proved useless. He would have to pick it up again today, but first he had other matters to deal with. A meeting
with his employers. They had sent a messenger to him late last night, saying they wanted to meet with him. Avery stood up, and put on some clothes, as he moved to the door, to sped the next few hours with his new family.

He came to knock on the door, as he adjusted the new wedding ring on his finger. The soft smile spread over his face, as he wrapped his knuckles on the door.

"Come in Avery" the voice was raspy, as it beckoned him in. Closing the door behind him, Avery gave a smile to the six men sitting in the room. They were at various places, on the couch, at the table. They all looked up to the young kid as he stepped into he room. The man that spoke came to greet him, offering a hand as he grabbed the boys arm.

"You.. you... you did us good last night... you" The man just shook his hand, as Avery could do nothing but smile. Avery really didn't like these men. They weren't his cup of tea as people say. Yet, they were his employers. They gave him money to do the one thing he could do. Fight. He couldn't read and write, he couldn't do other stuff. All he could do was fight. These six men, gave him the opportunity to make money. They would bet on the young
man, and bet big. After making there money, they would then give Avery a cut for doing good. It wasn't a super big cut, but it was enough for Avery to live on.

"Sit down Avery... make yourself comfortable." Avery did just that, as he moved to the table. The next few moments were spent in silence as all the men gathered around, facing Avery on the other side of the table. Then they pulled out a bag, and pushed it over to him.

"There ya go kid. That's the money you got for a job well done. So very well done." The man pushed the bag over, as Avery just smiled. The bag was twice as big as it normally would be. He could only imagine just how much these guys bet last night.

"And me and the boys got you a little something else Avery. Something to say thanks, and keep up the good work your doing for us, Kid." The man paused and smiled to the others. He pulled out a piece of paper and slid it over. "Now I know you have no clue what that is, so I'll tell ya. Its a house, Kid. A little wedding present for you. With this new family of yours, you got to move form the slums. Now, I know you hate fancy stuff, so it is just a
nice two bedroom cottage. A little small for our tastes, but an average house."

Avery sat there, just stunned. In fact he had been thinking a lot about this. He knew he had to get Casey, and the new baby out of his place. He had been staying at Oakenshield manor for the past couple nights, as he tried to figure out what to do. But, now he had the solution.

"Thanks... thanks for everything" He took the deed, and the money, sliding it in the backpack he always carried around. As he put the money in, he looked up with a smile. "Did you already take..... " He was cut off.

"Yeah, don't worry about it kid. The orphans got there cut from the money." Avery smiled, as he stood. Biding them a good day he turned and left. They just watched there prize leave, as they smiled. As the door shut behind Avery, they all went back to whatever it was people like them do.
