A bittersweet irony really it had ended that warm autumn night. He had stood and faced the dwarf, Jeff, in challenge and bested him as he did another former adversary, Lupton, with the disengage. A slight personal redemption for his dueling career. For the briefest of moments he was truely happy with something he achieved in his dueling career. The moment was brief for the match to come would prove the
irony of the end of his dueling career and his soul's exsistence. He had stayed toe to toe with his opponent till the bittersweet end. FIrst came the slash that had been tried once before. A little hair rising on the back of his neck told him to have trusted his instinct and he hadn't. And upon thinking of the score and the choice of moves that thrusting in the end was the wrong thing to do for surely the disengage would come to haunt him. And
so fate played her last trump card on him, and it was the disengage that was to deterimine his own end. He gave his final salute before turning over the Seventh Ring of the Baron of Swords Council to his successful opponent, Zam. And such would be the last time he would ever see RhyDin, or anyone of RhyDin would see him, for his avatar faded from view moments after.

In the lair of a outer planar spirit's home on the lower plane of Tarterus a very short scene followed. The dark spirit who held control of the orb of the Welsh Highlander's soul clenched it between his powerful fingers. He looked down at it with displeasure and anger as he spoke to the imprisoned spirit within his grasp.

"You failed in your quest for freedom, Ecore." The voice growled with a smug sense of sarcasm.

"You are correct, my master." The voice from within the emerald orb said quietly without emotion.

"You are aware of the consequences of failing this quest?" The judicious sentencing sounding tone began to reveal to the fallen spirit.

"Aye, I am, my master." The voice of the spirt of Ecore said somewhat faded away knowing the outcome to come and the dawning realization. Within moments the orb was flung from the lower planar spirit's hand into the wall. Shattering in thousands of shards as the orb lets loose an explosion of magical release. Within several moments the dust, the
shards of orb, and the surrounding air settled into a quiet silence for the briefest of moments. The former master turned back to the tome he was researching through as the silence continued to close in as the shadows seemed to on the whole scene.
