Why there are so many former duellers of the sport that choose, not lightly, to stay away from the sport which has been held dear to the heart for a long time. The very idea that some person challenges twice in the same cycle is unconcionable (sp?) at best and reprehensible at worst. I've visited many times in the past few months, granted I never was a Baron, though to
watch this sport I loved so dearly to be cheapened with bickering and an utter lack of notice for the ones that have made this sport what it was, in truth, sickens me. I may never have been the greatest dueller, though I tried to emphasize the fun and comradie that this sport provides. Instead of an extension of oneself the DoS has become an unhindered pool of festering emotions. I don't like this, so I'll backstab that. More likely a bunch of
politikin rather than skill and honor. I used to fervently go against anything that Elijah said just because it was he that spoke it, though now I find myself agreeing with him every turn. I'm not the best, history has proven that, though I can always hold my own. At least when my emotions don't get the best of me. Bottom line is, if you don't respect those that came before you, how can you expect anyone to respect your accomplishments?
My thanks to my scribe because it was money well spent

What disturbs me is how some newer duelers expect to get the same respect and reputation of older duelers though newer duelers tend to ignore and dismiss older duelers' accomplishments. You can't have one without the other. There are many newer generation duelers who I do respect and admire for their
skill in the ring and their conduct out of the ring, as well as there are older generation duelers who I don't think are all that in or out of the ring. I don't pretend to be a good or great dueler of any generation, nor do I command respect from anyone, however, I will not tolerate being disrespected because I come from a time now gone from the rings. Without the experiences I have been through and the comrades of my time have gone through, the
way you enjoy the sport now would not be what it is.

I's never looked fer respect, that's nae why I duel.
I once worked hard fer people tae like me, but I don't worry about that nae more.
I duel fer me.
