As the time goes

The remains of a smile were found upon his lips as he sat there, as he often did, staring into the starlit sky. For hours he would sit on his porch, meaningless thoughts drifting through his mind. He was content, no longer did he have the drive for something more. It was as if lady luck had at last dusted his fate. The bar and grill was turning out to be a fine investment,
and though the dojo was often empty, he found it turning into his own personal safehaven.

His gaze left the sprinkled sky and fell upon the road which led into town, though only momentarily. It had been what seemed like ages since he had been into town, into his past. The smile which lingered upon his lips was rekindled as memories began to sift through his mind. He had no immediate intentions of returning to town, but couldn't help but toy with the idea. As time passed the road began to catch more of the benefit of his glance, until he
was fixated upon it.

He must have fallen asleep, for when he reopened his eyelids the sun was making its daily, routine climb into the sky. The smile which had found his lips in the late hours of the night had vanished from his expression, the thoughts, however, remained. He decided it best to put the foolishness behind him, but he had one thing he desired to be done.

The young courier tacked the note upon the duel of swords message boards, as he was told:

What lies in the depths of the mind is as clever as the reality perceived. Regardless of the path chosen there is a certainty which we all must face, no exceptions. Yet no matter how hard we try, the endpoint is always the same.
