Ladies and Gentlemen of the Duel of Swords
The evening of Monday, September 23 '02, I was given the honor to witness the challenge issued by Warlord Tourney prize winner Blindfold Proxy unto Overlord Cletus Ganderfald for the honor to bear the title of Overlord. As it was a Tournament prize, there was no test of worthiness applicable, bringing us straight to the match, which was fought in a best of three format.
The challenging Warlord dueled under a banner of black and hot pink, which read "The Blindfold." He had no second or Lady of Honor to offer.
The defending Overlord dueled under the banner of Polaris, a red circle in the middle of a black flag. Baron Magnus Eques stood as his second, and his wife Arane Ganderfald was the Lady of Honor.
The first two matches had many similarities. Cletus scored first, the Blindfold Proxy scored three straight points, and the match ended in a 5-4 win with the losing duelist trying to lunge. Cletus recovered in the first duel, trailing 3-1, to take the 4-3 lead. The Proxy, however, turned it around and took the 5-4 win for the first duel in 9 rounds.
The second duel started much slower. It took five rounds for two points to be scored, both of which belonged to Cletus. However, the Proxy took the 3-2 lead in three straight rounds thereafter. After Cletus tied it up, they traded, before Cletus took the second match in 11 rounds with a timely defense.
The third match begun the same way, with Cletus taking the lead. However, all trends ended beyond that. They traded before Proxy tied it back up. Not wanting to stay tied for long, though, Cletus retook the lead. Proxy wouldn't give up, though, and tied it up again before taking the lead for good. In eight rounds, Proxy cut into the stepping Cletus to become the 50th Overlord in the Duel of Swords.
The new Overlord left shortly thereafter, leaving the Arena with the unveiled gift; a pair of duelists clashing crystalline blades, situated under the portrait of Gondar.
Congratulations to the Overlord, and to Cletus Ganderfald for a well fought and honorable match!
On a side note, Barons Ticallion Carter and Nova Grey Shadow declared their alignments as Renegade.

To the Duel of Swords community,

Our dueling proxy wishes to inform you that he will be taking the next two weeks to recover from wounds received in this match, and that he thanks Cletus Ganderfald and Var Medici-Giovanni for their parts in last night's grand event. He will however be in attendance during The Blindfold Arena's regular sparring hours that we offer every evening--except on Wednesdays, which we reserve for the weekly main event.
