Aya had accepted his congratulations, the title, and declaration that he would not be attempting to rematch his skills against her for that same title. But something was not right. The battle seemed to take more out of her than she had previously expected, and the blows sustained in the ring seemed to have taken a toll on her.

She felt embarrassed at herself at the beginning of the match almost immediately taking to her stance before the official, Var, performed formalities she was unaware of. It did not matter if those who gathered to witness the duels had noticed her error, it mattered that she felt it and knew she should have better prepared herself for all of the rituals that were customary for this venue.

Both duels were fought, the first completing much quicker than the second. But she had received blows in both that began to affect her in ways she had never encountered before. She had accepted the change of title, offered her thanks, and was quick to make her exit from the Arena. She had felt something was not well all night, and it was now that it confirmed that there was a problem.

She'd stepped out into the night air, and suddenly encountered the sensation of wet cloth clinging to her skin. It was not simply the perspiration caused by what she had thought was the extra effort given in such an important battle. (Something she had thought odd, since she has trained well enough that she should barely perspire at all.) It was the blood that had stained her clothing, sticking to her skin once she went outside. She was momentarily startled by this, for hadn't the Arena previously shown itself to not really permit permanent harm? What's more, even though she had taken few solid blows, is the fact that those attacks were potent enough to cause her serious pain. Baring the pain and grinding her teeth, which was her habit, she set out down the road from the Arena, determined to make her way home to tend to these wounds.

This was her mistake.

Being a skilled nurse, she should have known and recognized the seriousness of the wounds, the loss of blood making her light headed and weak. She should have stopped immediately for some help. Any help. But she was stubborn and set in her ways. She would not allow anyone see her at a weak moment and use that as any source of information in any way. She would not allow anyone to know that her condition was serious, nor let there be a chance that any Male would see her like this. But for all intents and purposes, she should have made the exception.

Using her naginata to help her keep her balance, she managed to travel away from the main city roads before finally collapsing at roadside, ultimately passing out from exhaustion and the loss of blood.

E had been worried about Aya when he left. She'd been sweating, and she seemed to be hurting, but he had expected the Ward to do its work, and he had to attend to something rather pressing. When that was finished with, he headed back towards the Arena to ask someone if she had made it home alright. What he found, to his shock, was Aya, unconscious, on the side of the road. He kneeled down and tried to wake her up, but to no avail. He rolled her onto her back, and that was when he noticed the blood. Realizing that she needed immediate attention, he pulled her onto his back and began making his way home.

It was the sunlight shining down over her eyes that finally caused her to awaken. She stirred and slowly moved to a sitting position, feeling weak. She slowly moved to her abdomen, where she'd taken one of the blows in her match. When she touched where the wound should have been, what she discovered was that someone had seen to her injuries, bandaging her side. She then looked to her legs, taking note that both had also been tended to.

"Where am I?" she spoke quietly, an obvious tone of annoyance to her words. She ran her fingers briefly over the bandages, raising a brow slightly in approval at how well she was wrapped and assuming that whomever had taken the time to see to her, was also trained in field medicine. She took a look around the room she was staying in, studying its features. It seemed quaint enough. The early morning Sun gave off a dull yellowish glow to the room, only seeming to accentuate the silence about her.

With a sigh and a slight grimace of pain, she turned to the side so she could stand up and leave the bed. She then moved toward the window, staring out and watching the morning mist traveling over the world outside. She rubbed her hand slowly over her patched side, snorted softly and turned to the door leading from her room.

And at that door stood E.

"Ah, so you're awake. Glad to see it. You were in a pretty bad way for a while, there. You're lucky I found you when I did. You lost a lot of blood, so you're going to need to stay in bed today. Probably tomorrow, as well. I'll go get you some breakfast."

And with that, he turned and walked off.

Surprised.

When she faced the door and saw E standing there, she was completely caught off guard by the sudden appearance. It didn't register right away that she wasn't actually in a hospital bed. To be honest, she did not know where she was.

After he left, she clenched a fist in anger. He'd seen her helpless and took her home, bandaged her, cared for her. Her feelings for that were indescribable and that also festered in her mind.

But it also meant that if she was unaware of his assistance, that she must have been in bad enough shape, and needed help. So, she felt that she would need to be grateful and owe him..... thanks.

"Damn him. All right. I won't hit him too hard this time. And maybe just once."

She then turned to glare at the view outside the window.
