I've challenged Xerzes for the title of Keeper of Earth.

Date: 2/18/04 9:27 AM Eastern Standard Time
From: DUEL Topaz

Last night at 11:30 by the eastern clock Max Blue, challenger, and Xerzes Maureen, Keeper of Earth, met in a ring to determine who will be the Keeper of Earth after a set of duels. Xerzes choose the spells Arctic Blast and Immolation to use throughout the contest.

In the first duel Xerzes took the lead early and never relinquished it, winning in the thirteenth round with a convincing 5-3 result.
The second duel started out similar to the first as far as the score went. But Max was able to take the lead from Xerzes in round 6 and managed to hold on to it for the next five rounds. In round 13 Xerzes evened the score. Max took the lead back in round 14 only to have Xerzes steal it from him in round 15. In overtime, Xerzes took the second win with a score of 6-4.5, again proving himself to be worthy to be the Keeper of Earth.

First duel:
Earth 1: Max dramatically displaces around Xerzes' cloud of foul fog.
Earth 2: Xerzes' mage bolt knocks the control of the arctic blast from Max.
Earth 3: Max and Xerzes compare shields.
Earth 4: Max and Xerzes cast mind whips. The energies meet in the middle and fizz out in a colorful display.
Earth 5: Max reaches out for Xerzes, but before he can make contact he is buried under an avalanche of stone and soil.
Earth 6: Max frees himself enough to send a magebolt Xerzes' way before Xerzes gets full control of an arctic blast.
Earth 7: Xerzes is well protected in his suit of armor from Max's foul fog.
Earth 8: Xerzes' wall of fire swallows Max's magebolt and Max.
Earth 9: Xerzes' mind whip cannot find a way past Max's shield.
Earth 10: Max adds some nasty fog to Xerzes' arctic blast and sends it back.
Earth 11: Xerzes displaces out of range of Max's mind whip.
Earth 12: Max braves the heat of Xerzes' immolation and touches Xerzes with fear.
Earth 13: Max finds his mage armor useless against one of Xerzes' mind whips.

Second duel:
Earth 1: Max forgot why he wanted to be a ghost.
Earth 2: Max slices his fingers open as he touches fear into Xerzes' wizard blades instead of into Xerzes.
Earth 3: Max shakes up Xerzes' control of his immolation with a mind whip.
Earth 4: Max sees another avalanche heading his way and fades into his spooky self, watching the stone and soil pass through him.
Earth 5: Max makes Xerzes forget what to do with wizard blades.
Earth 6: Max adds a nasty fog to Xerzes' arctic blast and sends it back.
Earth 7: Xerzes' mind whip is absorbed by Max's shield.
Earth 8: Max braves the heat of Xerzes' immolation and touches fear into him.
Earth 9: Max's magebolt disappears in Xerzes' foul fog.
Earth 10: Max and Xerzes both cast mind whips, which makes for a nice display as they fizzle to nothing after they met.
Earth 11: Max finds his shield getting heavy with ice from Xerzes' arctic blast.
Earth 12: Xerzes displaces around Max's foul fog for show.
Earth 13: Max forgot why he is touching Xerzes.
Earth 14: Xerzes' fog cannot get around Max's shield.
Earth 15: Xerzes takes the match into overtime by reaching through Max's cloud and touching fear into him.
Earth 16: Xerzes' Arctic blast is not to be escaped by merely displacing.

Xerzes has defended his right to be Keeper of Earth. Congratulations Xerzes.
