A few thoughts

First I want to congradulate Dalamar on defending his position against myself. Secondly, I wish to address the fact that to some I am being looked at as a hipocrit. I'll elobarate, when I first issued my challenge I did state that I would not seek or ask any rengade baron to intercede upon my challenge. Now, as many witnessed the renegade baron Bapheloc did intercede and I did accept this. Does this make me a hipocrit? I think not. I did NOT ask for the intercession, and had no part in it's planing. I
accepted on a spur of the moment thought, looking back if allowed to redo tonites events I would have declined the intercession. Now, what is done is done.
Third....I have also been informed that should I have been victorious, there was a long line of warlords ready to post challenges against me. Outside of a few, I wonder as to why? If there is a group that thought I was unworthy I may accept that fact. But the rumors I have heard point to other reasons.I was even told that I would not have made a good overlord, which makes me wonder...how the hell would anyone know what kind of OL I woulda been? People can change at any moment without warning. Just
because somebody doesn't like me they automaticly feel I shouldn't hold a title. To this I will make no comment because there are children who pass by this board and read it. But i digres, and since I lost, that's a near dead issue. Although it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Lastly, I've seen some of the genral populas leaving the area and our beloved sport. Why? Because it is turning into a place where all that is done is we argue and slander one another. Makes me sick thinking I was nearly drawn to such a level...or had been there on some occasions. To an extent I am glad Dalamar had defeated me. The dueling of the swords was originally intended to be a fun sport/hobby. With a few quirks as to the baronies and the Overlordship. I look to the new barons and the older
warlords who are disqusted because of all the challenges of late. Just let me remind you that "This Is FUN" remember? What I am going to do is this, I'm gonna give the new barons a chance to prove they deserve to hold thier title, ( like I got a choice for the rest of the cycle) and I would urge the rest of the populas to do so also.
Well, if anyone made it this far down through my mummbling I hope you can figure out what I was trying to say.

Huma
battered warlord

P.S. Dalamar, again, a grand defense.

Fandral Kurgan read over Huma's post with a sad, if grim, cast to his face.

He had seen this before. As a matter of fact, he had never seen the DoS any other way but this... But then, his memory perhaps was not what it had been.

Turning from the boards, he wondered if there were anything that an individual duelist could do to bring back those memories.

It was a long walk home to the villa, and a fruitful one.

Warlord Huma Dragonbane,

Know thee that thou did fight well and with honor this evening and were bested by the skill and blade of the Overlord in a match to be remembered. All else is of little consequence if to thine own self thou art true and thou knowest that thee fought to the best of the skill.
Well tried indeed, Warlord.

Overlord Dalamar ArD'aumon

Vengence sang in the dance this eve. Well defended, with skill and Honor, Overlord.

Jona,
Common as they come.

Warlord Huma Dragonbone,

The issue of a "Good" Overlord or not rests on the opinion of the other duelists. For many, DoS to them is a community. I personally do not agree with them, netherless, it is a valid opinion. For them, the "Community" of DoS would want to see an Overlord whom is experanced, well respected by more than the majority of the DoS population (Most amoung the Warlords and Barons of course since they have all of the Power invested with the title). With this being known, you would have to ask yourself if you see
yourself as a worthy Overlord. I have had thought of going for Overlord myself, but I always back down because of three things.

1. I have been amoung the DoS for less than a year. 2. I do not yet consider myself, yet, to be a good Leader, if leadership was needed... and thee Overlord is the Leader. And 3. I am not sure how others would feel if I did make Overlord. If I did and I was wrong and people started to Mad Challenge me... I would lose alot of respect and be lower than I was when I was a Warlord.

Community opinions aside, there is the issue of Skill. As the DoS rules state, the Overlord is the dueler of duelers (Not in those words). Now, ask yourself this... how well do you really duel? Are you the top in the Warlords brackets? Have you been a baron with multiple defences in the past? Have you ever won or come into second place in the Warlord Tournament? In my case, I have hit two of the three, I won a Warlords Tournament, took the Baron's Ring as a prize and held off the Challenge attacks of
three Warlords in my near three month reign. I was second in the Warlords Braket at the end of the Warlords Cycle before last tournament (Below Kalamere).

Do not take offense in my useing you as an exapmle, but it proves a point. Huma, you have lost your only Baronal Challenge to Lutpon by an average score of 5-3, and many believed you to Challenge him to soon after hitting Warlord. You have not won any Tournaments thus far, though I do not know how well or poorly you did in any you may have participated in. The Warlord's Standings is the place I do not know how you stand in the past, but right now you are doing well with your nine Wins over loses against
your Peer's. This is impressive, but it has shown that you do not do so well when the duels count... as you have shown here again by being defeated by Dalamer in a shot at holding the Crown for your own. Remember, I am not trying to offend you in any way, I am just trying to help you understand the feelings of some of the other people.

That was skill, lets move onto the final catagory of politics. Now, ask yourself this question? How well have you spoken yourself around other people on these boards? This post right here was written pretty well. I have not taken notes on how well you expressed yourself. If you anger quicky and start insulting people, other people are not going to like you. I made this mistake when I first held my Baron's Ring and Billy Ray immidiatally posted a note of intent of Challenged. He got to my head and I
wasn't mature about it. So... instead I got to face Lupton with his comment on how he thought my name-calling was childish... which it was.

My entire point is in this post is that there are many, many reasons why people say what they say, do what they do, and Challenge when they do. Knowing this, you should time your Challenges, not rush them. As much as you would like it to be all fun in games, it's not.

If this is just a game, then you should not feel offended when rumors are flying about on how people are going to mass challenge you, because it's all fun in games right? For many or most, it is not. Remember that and it will help you in the long run.

Respectfully Submitted,
~^~Damien Cetran~^~

Gotta love that guy. He's an idiot-savant of sorts.
Goon, your simplicity makes you lovable and more often than not, correct.
