Overlord Challenge Result

On this night.... the challenge by Gaejin was offered and accepted by the Overlord. However, the Overlord chose to use the Test of Worthiness before facing Seraph.

During the procedings, Baron Evan chose to stand on behalf of Gaejin, and meet the Intercession Champion... for his actions, the Overlord publicly declaired Baron XvEvan RENEGADE.

The matchs proceded as follows:

Sartan Z lc/fcp/th/fdis/fss/fcp/lc/hc/ss/sh/th/lc/hc 5
XvEvan fdu/th/lc/fss/sl/fss/fcp/hc/lc/fcp/lp/lc/ss 3.5

whereupon Sartan faced Gaejin

Sartan Z fcp/hc/fss/lc/fss/sh/lc/fdu 2
Gaejin sh/lc/fss/hc/sh/lc/th/lc 5

This earned Seraph the right to face Dalamar!

LordovDale fdu/th/lc/fss/fcp/hc/fss/lc/fdu 5
Gaejin sh/th/lc/th/hc/lc/fcp/th/flp 4

Overlord Dalamar Ar'Daumon retains his title in the closest match to date!
Valiantly dueled... the match was adjudicated by myself this night....

::noting the results, wants to be the first to post::

An excellent win, Dal, and excellent showings by Seraph, Sartan, and Evan. In the first duel we had a near comeback, and in the last we had one that went to the very end. It's the excitement of the matches like that that makes it all worthwhile.

::thinks after hearing of the banishment of Evan::

A nuetral Baron being banished to renegade for that action against Dal....As a nuetral baron he should be able to do that without reprocussion....right? Boy....i have to stop talking to myself.

::continues on thinking about what has happened::

Evan's actions last night were hardly "neutral", Dalamar simply corrected his title.

My actions last night were Neutral. I was tring to make sure that the "Test" was not used due to Dal thinking he does not have to duel just any body for his title. The Overlord should have to take on every challenger up front instead of being able to put some one else in for the fight.

I agree with Evan. It seems to me that a man, as a man and a Baron, should be able to stand up for what he believes in without having others decide his status for him. I see know reason that his actions should have affected his status. If he truly felt renegade, he would have declared himself one in the first place. It was my opinion that the "Neutral" alignment was created just so something like this could happen without the Baron
having to become a Renegade.

People,

You are forgetting that the status of a Baron's allignment is how he serves the Overlord. When Baron Evan stood up for what he believed in(interceeding on behald of the Overlord's challenger), he directly became involved in the politics of the Overlord's challenge. Thus, making it impossible to truly be neutral. Now, his allignment might not have changed had he not interceeded during an Overlord's challenge. Perhaps if it were a Baron's
match, his allignment wouldn't have been under question.

Very true, Lupton. There *is* no ill worth in being Renegade. It's not a demotion, just a change. Dal felt that Evan's actions were that of a Renegade, rather than a Neutral, and he corrected his alignment as such.

Sid, Jeff, Seamus,

Dal made up his mind to banish me from my Neutral ranking. It seems he had this planned before the match even started. But ... who cares. Neutral or Renegade, I still don't care for testing and I will do my best to see that if some one challenges and has to face a "test", I will step in if needed. I think the Overlord spot has too much power and it should be cut back some. And to the use of power while I am on the suject, the rules clearly
state the banishment of a Loyal, not a Neutral along with if the Neutral Baron shall gain challenge rights.

::jumps into the pool, head first::

Evan,

One thing, the title is "Overlord" which means the surpreme dueler of the DoS. That entitles Dal to the power he has and it is his decision on how to use it. He was right in correcting your alignment. You stood up for what you thought was right, and your punishment was getting your alignment changed to what it should be when one interceeds. You're all complaining over nothing. All Dal did was state a fact, that Evan and his actions were
that of Renegade.... There should be no shame in that.

Evan,
I don't know what brought you to the conclusion that Dal planned to banish you to renegade. Honestly, how do you expect him to feel if someone takes neutral stance, then get involved which affects his title? Neutrality means you take neither side. If you don't like how Dal handles his challenges (and I believe he has had others intercede in the past), then maybe Renegade should have been taken up in the first place.

However, if one wants to see an overlord be able to face challengers without others fighting for them, maybe Seraph should have fought the "challenge" by Sartan himself. Essentially, it was a challenge. If Seraph won, he could have dueled Dal. It's the same principle, which did occur. However, someone else had to fight for him beforehand.
Someone called Dal a coward, in the field. Yet, the person he was cheering for is no different in allowing someone else to fight for him.
Am I calling Dal or Seraph a coward? No. I'm just telling those who think Dal's a coward, to simply look at the one you were rooting for. If Evan wants an overlord to be able to fight on his own, then maybe he shouldn't have interceded.
Someone then said "but Dal allowed him to intercede first". A few notes:
1)It's been done in the past, and I can name only a few who have remained consistent with the belief that a test of worthiness isn't right.
2)Maybe the challenger did something that led the overlord to believe he deserved a test.
3)It still is the challenger's decision if he wants to allow someone else to fight for him.

Dal's a friend of mine, and there are some who are friends of Seraph's. You want to root for someone to win because of that, great. It's a lot better than making excuses.
On a side note: Congratulations, Dal.

Respectfully,
Var Medici-Giovanni
