Pulic Announcement.

Fellow duelers and staff.
Upon the dawning tomorrow, I am leaving on an extended trip with my Father to assist him in certain matters which shall remain private.
In any event, this trip will keep me away from RhyDin for approximately two weeks. Rose has kindly offered to cover my shift for next Wednesday, but don't get too used to her... I'll be back to work quickly.
The other reason for this post is this. Call it a "notification of intent to file," for lack of a better term.
Upon my return from my trip, I will be issuing challenge to the Baron Avery ShivBlade for the 4th Ring. I have already informed the Baron of this, and he has agreed to the meeting. In keeping with my personal code, the duel cannot take place before the 18th of the month, so I cannot formally place a challenge at this time. But, no matter what rank or position Avery holds within the Duel of Swords, he and I -will- be dueling on the 18th.
Until my return... Duel with grace, skill and honor... all of you.

The holder of the Fourth is Zen, who won it from Huma.
The holder of the Fifth is Morgan, who won it in the Tourney just a few nights ago.
Avery holds the sixth, having defeated Adeena for it.

Alright, alright...
So sue me, I've been busy preparing for this trip and I made a small mistake. Avery and I both know what I meant here and that's what matters...
Sheesh...

Tacks a note to the corkboard.
Gentles,
An 'intent' to challenge is not a challenge. In past such "intents to challenge" have been misconstrued as precluding another from offering an "official" challenge. The Baron Avery may have agreed to this "intended" challenge, however, none are precluded from offering official challenge should they so desire. One can but hope the Warlord Drakewyn would not wish any to stand aside awaiting her convenience should they have a mind to offer
official challenge to the Renegade Baron.
Jona,
Common as they come.

Lady Drakewyn,
I'm afraid I'd have to consider "small mistake" to be the understatement of the year. It's rather obvious that you're issuing this challenge in order to fight the man holding the ring, rather than to attain the ring itself. Why bother to issue a challenge if you would fight him no matter the rank he holds? Seeming as you failed to notice your "small mistake", naming the man as Baron of a completely different ring, perhaps the peer wins
should be put away for another day. To judge your intents solely on what you've presented... you want the man wearing the ring, not the ring itself.
While this may show a respect to the duelist holding the ring, it seems to disrespect the very prize itself. A challenge should be issued for want of a ring, not for want of a man. Avery ShivBlade possesses the Sixth ring of the Duel of Swords. Which do you want, lady? Avery ShivBlade... or the Sixth ring? If the answer is 'Avery ShivBlade' you do not need peer wins or a specific date for it. Simply step into a ring and draw your blade.
I somehow doubt the answer could be 'the Sixth ring' seeming as you failed to present the ring with its proper title. Perhaps the answer is both... as if the ring were icing on the cake. If this is the case, I do hope you can tell the difference between 'Six' and 'Four' when it comes time to step forward as a title holder of the Duel of Swords.
With as much respect as due,
Cristian de Oro

It had been a long trip home... not to mention the huge amount of work the 'vacation' had been itself. She arrived at the cottage just as Jhessail was leaving, and so only the briefest of homecomings were hers. She wanted to visit her daughter, but she had to wait... the agreement with Perrinis was still too fragile to upset.
Only a few customers were at the GIT when she went there, and Iggy said G was 'out somewhere, doing something.' That left the Arena... which, of course, was still under construction. "It's amazing... we've got Inns that rebuild themselves in a matter of hours, but they can't finish work on the Arena in a matter of weeks." Heading down to the Annex, she noticed Jake calling a practice duel for some of the newcomers to the Arena. After
exchanging a few quips in fun, she heads to the message board to review what has been happening since she left...
After reading a few of the responses to her posting, she frowns a little, remembering something that was told her... After a moment, she pens a note.
Lords and Ladies of the Duel of Swords.
Each and every person is entitled to their own opinion on any situation... I have explained my reasons for what I am doing to the Baron as well as to those of my friends.
In honor of an agreement between he and I, my challenge will wait until the results of the current challenge to Dalamar are known.
I have questioned my own motivations in this, and I know them to be sound.
Using a phrase oft repeated in many different ways... If you don't like it, challenge me if I win... If I lose, then what does it matter?
Thank you for your time.
