Var,

Did Jake deserve to be attacked for the words you yourself reprinted? Does he say he is better than anyone else in those three sentences? I think not.

Perhaps he misconstrues the concept of skill directly related to how many duels you win, but that is quite harmless. It is certainly not deserving of your post. The post written by Jake was not meant to hurt anyone, but rather to inspire people to have fun.

And I am glad you noticed I was addressing you. Perhaps now you understand how others feel when you write down to them, as I have just done to you. Don't expect to keep attacking others without making yourself a target.

Good day.

"The post written by Jake was not meant to hurt anyone, but rather to inspire people to have fun."

Rix, you should know damn well that statement is full of crap. I'm sure when he was saying "you will feel my power" or whatever he said, that he was thinking to inspire others to have fun too.

"Jona... please speak more clear! i will never understand you! ::Laughs::

J.M. Heartsong"

Here, he can't even keep his dignity and refrain from doing the same thing that was done to him. He complains about being attacked for the way he posted and look what he says to Jona!
Rix, please stop trying to make Jake a martyr. All he was doing was flaunting himself in front of everyone and setting out a universal challenge, just like CoolMoney did.
As for the example set by we higher ranks, if we don't put him in his place, who will? Oh, well. He needs to learn that we'll all have our bad streaks, but he'll just have to learn that on his own during that week we all have when we go like 0-4 and decide not to duel for two weeks.

I find it interesting to the recent references to Cool Money, as his former promoter, even the one who eventually walked away from him and lost significant amounts of money in the process I would like to remind you of two facts.

1. To my knowledge Cool lost only two duels in about 13, with his bravado usually challenged the high ranks, and in all honesty had a cocky attitude that was ... shall we say ... consistant. When we parted ways Cools promotions stopped and for the most part so did his trips to the Arena as his income was often generated by my former bookkeeping. Jake seems to be making a longer committment and will likely deal with his actions over the course of his
stay here and will reap what he sows.

2. Cool was a borderline antifancy and was not afraid of being the underdog in that regards, something which Jake is. I have seen him worried about losing rank and unwilling to at times duel those who out fancy him. Plainly put, Uziels list was right to leave Jake off and have Cool on it

::just... sighs::

I said I wouldn't continue this argument, but I do wish to clarify a few things for Cassius here.

"Rix, you should know damn well that statement is full of crap. I'm sure when he was saying "you will feel my power" or whatever he said, that he was thinking to inspire others to have fun too."

In Jake's post to which we are now adding our responses to, he never once said "you will feel my power". And by you adding, "whatever he said," Cassius, you show that you do not recall the post clearly. An uninformed argument is a poor one.

"Here, he can't even keep his dignity and refrain from doing the same thing that was done to him. He complains about being attacked for the way he posted and look what he says to Jona!
Rix, please stop trying to make Jake a martyr. All he was doing was flaunting himself in front of everyone and setting out a universal challenge, just like CoolMoney did. "

I believe the quote you copied down was a joke. A jest. Something for people to read and laugh at. This post differs immensely from Cool Money's. I cannot believe you cannot tell the difference. And I am not trying to make anyone a martyr, rather, I am trying to dissuade people who should know better (which includes you among others, Cassius) from posting pointless attacks on others on these boards. Which
leads to my next point . . .

"As for the example set by we higher ranks, if we don't put him in his place, who will? Oh, well. He needs to learn that we'll all have our bad streaks, but he'll just have to learn that on his own during that week we all have when we go like 0-4 and decide not to duel for two weeks."

One is put in their place inside the dueling rings, not here on the boards. One is put in their place by meeting defeat by a sword, not by enduring endless and pointless talk in posts. Yes, he must learn everyone has bad streaks. How does he learn that? By us berading and insulting him? No. He learns through experience in the rings.

Lecture ended.

>> Did Jake deserve to be attacked for the words you yourself reprinted? Does he say he is better than anyone else in those three sentences? I think not.<<

You need to read the words he wrote?

P.S. good luck Trying to out do me!

You accuse me of writing off topic, so I state my case. Then when I state my case, you say I attack him. It's rather inconsistent, Rix.

>> Perhaps he misconstrues the concept of skill directly related to how many duels you win, but that is quite harmless. It is certainly not deserving of your post. The post written by Jake was not meant to hurt anyone, but rather to inspire people to have fun.<<
Maybe he doesn't understand what skill is, that's fine. In all fairness, maybe his display of arrogance isn't deserving either. Maybe your direct attack to Cassius and me (without stating a WORD regarding the original subject, mind you) isn't deserving of the boards. He asked for it when he said "Good luck trying to outdo me". Reading those words assure bad intentions, which brought more harsh words to my post.
You think arrogance is fun? I don't agree. People get hurt from it. Moreover, he said nothing of jest, which, consequently, means people take it seriously.

>> And I am glad you noticed I was addressing you. Perhaps now you understand how others feel when you write down to them, as I have just done to you. Don't expect to keep attacking others without making yourself a target. <<
I know the consequences of posting, Rix. You don't need to say, "Don't say that unless you want to make yourself a target."

I'm not going to be taking part of this bickering anymore, though. I've said my piece and defended it accordingly. There are commoner and warlord tourneys Jake can take part in to see who lasts the longest. I am sure, in time, there will be tourneys with the other ranks involved. There's some added thought regarding the original topic. That's all I'm going to say.

I just have to say this:

Jake is being more honest by saying in public that he doesn't understand Jonalyn's speech than most people, who just nod and smile "politely" when she says something they don't understand. Why is it so hard to admit that some accents are just difficult for some people to understand? I understand her....and it took almost a year before I could understand MadMax (the old dude. :).

Maybe Jake just needs a translation guide.

What i wrote then was all for fun. It did not mean anything. I just wanted everyone to let out there Frustrations, and duel just for fun and only fun. I am trying to make it interesting, or Worth while. I am not saying, i am the Almighty Jake, you fight me i will destroy you. It was all for fun. I fight for only Honor and the challenge of higher and same ranks. Yes, i agree, i diserve to be attacked for
that game and the posts i put up about Ego's, but i meant nothing. Just, for you to see a point. Actually, i wanted you to criticize that post, i wanted to see your input. Thanks for your time and i hope to clear it up. And please stop fighting with Rix and such.

I agree with Jola...would you rather a person go around pretending to understand what you are saying, rather than admitting up front that they don't understand...at least this way many misunderstandings could be avoided....

Historical Note:

CoolMoney was only defeated twice in his dueling tenure. One such defeat was administered by myself, 5-0 in 5 rounds.

Jola,

If I am correct, you did state this within your previous missive,

"Jake is being more honest by saying in public that he doesn't understand Jonalyn's speech than most people"

Well, I'm not sure whether honesty was the issue here. Yes, perhaps he was being honest, but the thing is, he was being quite rude as well. I, at times, have problems understanding Jona. Usually it only happens when I'm supremely tired. Yet, even when I do not understand her I'm not as rude as to smack something such as this:

"Jona... please speak more clear! i will never understand you!" - Jake

on the boards. I think he should have taken it up with her privately. Or at least, if he wanted to address the issue on the boards put it in a more eloquent and polite fashion.

That's just my opinion though.

Sincerely,

Lily Lesprit

Lily,

Yes, it was me. :) He has said such to Jonalyn in person, and she, being the type of person she is, has taken it well and deals with it as she will. It came across to me as more of a "friendly jibe" considering that everytime I'm in the Arena and they are there, he and she trade some seemingly good-natured barbs about this.

Of course, I could be mistaken. Jonalyn hasn't said as much to me, I'm only going by what I see. I've known her for five years, she was at my wedding...I don't pretend to know her extremely well, but I do know she can take care of herself.
