To everyone who even hangs around the arena...
Let it be known that I Huma dragonbane, former holder of the 4th baron's ring, have challenged the Overlord Dalamar Ar'Daumon for his seat. I had made this challenge "before" Avery had issued his as a baron. I chose to keep it quiet for a few reasons, the most obvious is, well, just look at the pointless name calling and insulting that has more than doubled on these message boards.
Why have I challenged? Many reasons, but I will only list a few. The main reason is, I feel it is time for a change in the arena. I feel I have the skill and ability to dethrone our current overlord, thus the challenge. Most of you who frequent the arena know my personal feelings for Dalamar, so I will not bring those opinions to this missive. Another reason for this challenge...I will be attempting to prove several points to the community and
to myself. To back this up, I look back to a comment I made to Sartan a few weeks ago, in which I said..."if you have a point to prove, do it the hard way."
What do I mean by that? Simple. Many of you have seen me loose my temper recently in the ring...cursing myself. I feel that I am one of the best duelers in the realm at this point in time. Take note that I do not consider myself *the* best, but to be the man, you must beat the man. The man being Dalamar of course. According to the rules of our beloved sport, the overlord shall be considered the best dueler in the realm untill his dethroning. A
title I would like to have..even if for a short time. Politically...I have ideas...new and radical. None of which need be stated unless I am victorious in my challenge.
As we have all seen, the *quality* of some of the people who now patronize the arena has dropped. Rudeness and insults abound us now. On this matter, our current overlord is a good role model. Always the model of being polite and curteous. No complaints from me about that. Even tho I really don't like the guy, he's always got his manners about him.
There are other reasons to this challenge of course, but I also want to make a statement. that being that I am in no way affiliated with House Rising, or black sun rising or what ever the few new houses are called, *and* I am *not* rejoining Questrion...in case anyone gets curious. I stand alone....as I shall in this challenge. the honarable Goldendust has varified my peerwins, and I only await Dalamar to choose his gorund. Untill then,
hopefully we can keep this from turning to a mudsling free-for-all.

Huma,
Well done. Rarely have I seen a challenge written as informative and yet uninsulting as this. Above all, I find myself terribly interested in the radical changes you mention. Win or lose, I hope you might share these thoughts once the match is complete.
As far as proving your point the hard way, I imagine that path may include a Test of Worthiness. In that I wish you luck, fore I believe a match between Dalamar and yourself will be well worth watching.

Straight from your History:
"Lupton's second and third defenses were accomplished with the same relative ease. Huma DragonBane and James Dandy both fell to the Baron's blade, neither scoring more than 3 points."

Skill is hard to define. One duel DEFINATELY, in my opinion, does not determine skill. Moreover, just because that person lost to you, it doesn't mean that they have less skill.
One night, you beat me. Another night, I beat you (Note, to the readers: I am using this example because other examples I may not have complete detail of). Does this mean one's better than the other?
It means one person had a good duel, and the other didn't have so good a duel. It proves the point that anyone can be beaten at any time, by anyone else.
I know for sure, I'm far from the best dueler that has ever walked in the arena. I could probably defeat the best, as anyone else can. I admit, I'd probably get tossed around in the ring by "the best". However... a pillar of stone can be broken, you just have to learn the weak spot to chip at.
