Aislain runs out to play, but then stops at the top of the stairs thinking for a very long time. Marcus stands below her, watching her with a look of yearning. He scowls dumping some soapy water into the basin and swishing it around the dirty mugs with an impatient hand. It seemed truly unfair to be stuck in the bowels of the Red Dragon Inn, mopping up after sloppy duelists when other children were romping under the
dulcet swirl of autumn leaves.

Ais twirled as if reaching a decision, and flitted down the stairs in a flurry of pink skirts coming to a skidding halt before the note written by the very old man. She read it again then sat down scribbling madly on a piece of paper.

Mon Cher Lord du Lieth Zephyrus,

My name is Aislain Uziel and I am 8 years old and I was only 4 when you left the Arena, but I don't remember you because I was only 4 and I don't remember lots of things from being 4 because my brain was so small they overflowed when I was sleeping escaping into my dreams. But I have seen your name.

Welcome home, and I hope to meet you and your honor. Honor is something you carry around with you, I suppose, like your hat in case it rains, or your map in case you get lost. Honor is very nice to have, I have lots of it - but its not as cozy as my friends.

Do not be worried, I am sure you will find lots of your friends if you look for them. Bestest friends always wait for your return, and hold you and kiss you like you never left. They understand you when they cannot and they always let you share the swing with them, even if they would rather swing all by themselves. That is why true friends are better than drinking tea under your blankets when its snowing outside.

Until you find your friends, I can be your friend. I can't keep you dry as an umbrella, but I can help you jump in puddles and show you where the biggest toad in the world likes to hide.

Groses Bises,

Aislain

Satisfied, she tacks it up with the other notes she spent all morning writing and then turns to leave. Marcus catches her eye and she flashes him a dimple. "Race you." She suddenly squeals and darts for the stairs. Marcus drops his mug and goes careening after her, their shouts echoing through the swinging door as they dash from the Red Dragon Inn above out into the October
sunshine.

People changed, everything else is the same. Beyond that, the're all words and hidden agendas. Honor hasn't changed. Ideals haven't changed. Just some people who seem to want things their way, right away. I've grown used to it, and know not to bother. I like to think I'm a well respected individual, and perhaps well liked. I hold true to my own honor and ideals, and have always respected others.

I welcome you back with no promises to be what you might expect, all I ask is you expect me to be one thing, myself. I ask no more, no less.

Till we meet in the rings, I am

Lord Grandel du Lieth Zephyrus~

I doubt you remember me, since when you were around, I was but a brand new dueler, feeling my way around the rings. However, I do remember somewhat of those times.

Yes, times have changed, my lord, but rather than change for the worse, it is just...different. As with all things, the DoS has room for improvement, but isn't that always best? Change and growth is necessary. If the DoS had no room to change and grow, it would have gone stagnant years ago, and died.

Stay around a bit longer, my lord, and you will see bits and pieces of the community that you so loved. For, as I have learned from personal experience as of late, despite personal and political views, you can count on members of the DoS to be there when you need them most.

::wanders up and takes some time to read the many missives pinned to the board, before penning her own::

Lord Grandel du Lieth Zephyrus,

While I was not blessed enough to know of the many that came before me, I have been so blessed to know many of those who now patronize the arena today.
Politics are maddening to myself, forcing friends on opposite sides, and causing a major fuss.
A few a frays I've been so bold to step into, for no other reason than the conflict involved a family member.
In the past, I've spoken too quickly, or too harsh. And from those mistakes, I've learned.
Honor hasn't changed in my eyes.
Truth has always been questionable, depending on whose version you heard first.
At times, the lack of honor is evident, and those who know it not are easily avoided.
I hope to see you in the rings, dear sir. Until then, may the spirits treat you kindly.

~respectfully
