The package arrived without too much difficulty. It really didn't matter that its sender didn't know just exactly WHERE the recipient was. It had been homed in ON the recipient themselves, so they would receive it wherever they were. It would have been nice if he or it could be found this way, but you had to settle for what you could get.
He had been sending the ladies gifts. Maybe he should receive one himself. He might like this one, anyway. It was just the sort of thing that should appeal to him. Percival hoped so, anyway. He so hated it when he guessed wrong. Still, a lot of time and effort had gone into this gift. He hoped it would be appreciated.
The message sat on a fairly obvious spot on top of the package. There was no way that Jorah could miss it. He would read it, that much was fairly predictable. It would be too interesting for him not to do so. He would be too curious. Curiosity had been known to kill felines.
The message read: A bat, Khan? A bat? Such an obvious riddle, really. I wonder how you expected it to stump anyone at all. Besides, it gives away information you may, or may not, have wanted us to know. Jola really was a nervous wreck that day. It was a good thing I was there. She might have missed one or two of the little details. I was able to pick a few of them up. I hope that doesn't
disappoint you, my friend. Ah well, it has been so long since I had a really fitting opponent. You should entertain me at least as much as the ladies entertain you. Maybe even more. Or maybe not. You might not be as clever as you seem to be. Your riddle was very obvious, and I still haven't heard you answer mine. You do remember it, don't you? I am the goal of hate and the dream of love, I devour all yet all feed upon me. What am I? A very easy
riddle, and you still haven't answered.
Ah well, maybe I had too much faith in you. Enclosed is a token of my regard. Please don't consider it a hint in any way. It really means very little. It is just a generous gift, from a friend to a friend.
Enclosed in the package was a small object. A miniature model of a coffin, made of oak, and beautifully engraved with ancient Celtic runes. The runes were inlaid with silver, and the hinges were likewise silver.

The package was sent to him. He was sitting in his study, going over some fascinating manuals on the human anatomy, reading on pressure points and vital organs which could be damaged, yet in ways so that the victim would remain living for an extended period of time. He looked over the top of the book and stared at the small package, quirking a brow and
letting it cross his mind that perhaps one of his old adversaries has found him.
He reached over and tugged the note free from the top of the box, setting his book down and reading the new material that was presented.

Reading over the letter, he managed a true smile, a rarity for someone with his mentality, amused by Percival's obvious ploy to draw him out into the open. He, of course, had an idea for the answer to the riddle, he believed it to be the correct answer. The words concerning the riddle of the bat were inconsequential and of no concern to him. That
he supposedly given up information also did not matter, for he could not see what information would be given by a simple child's riddle. He opened the box and withdrew the small coffin, looking over the intricate detail with an expert touch. He smile grimly again, catching the hidden meaning behind it, even though there was supposedly no meaning meant. But Jorah wasn't stupid or clumsy, as they possibly believed. He knew what he was doing and was
enjoying it. He set the coffin on his desk and used it as a paperweight. Then conjured up a note to respond.
Dear Giftgiver,
I would like to thank you for your wonderful gift, it is making a most decorative paperweight for my desk. If you've other kind object to send, please do. I shall endeavor to return your kindness to the best of my lifetimes of skill and art. I assure you, your kindness shall not go unreturned.
I will be looking again. There is much to be done and not much time in which to do it. Prepare.
Khan Jorah Petrovna Illianovich.
Upon completion of the letter, he sent it by the simple spell which would find Percival and present him with the response. Jorah smiled and leaned back, retaking his book and beginning to look over the notes again.
"Death ... so the game is afoot."

Perci chuckled as he read the reply. He had caught the enemy's interest. That could be useful. The threats didn't disturb him very much, though they would keep him on his lookout. Apparently the enemy hadn't realized how much he had given away, though there was no way to know for sure. It might even have been deliberate.
Or he could be wrong, he supposed. He was not infallible. Still, it might be necessary to send another gift. After all, the enemy said he wanted one. Maybe another riddle as well. If the enemy was having so much fun, Perci might as well have some more himself.
Yes, it was definitly a good idea to continue the correspondence. He took a look at the small weapons rack on the wall of his room. From there his eyes flickered to the chessboard on the nightstand.
"Well, now all I need is a white knight."
