Thoughts of a commoner...

Fellow Patrons of DoS,

I am a commoner and proud of that fact. So those of you that feel that I have no voice or insight into the sport please read no further. I do not wish to waste your time.

Although this matter has been decided already by the Council, and the events that have happened recently have certainly overshadowed the whole ordeal. I am left wondering. Why did the Council insist on removing Dalamar's honor?

Certainly it was an honorable thing for the man to be with his dying father, I would expect nothing less from an honorable man. I find no fault with his decision. I have always heard that Dalamar is an honorable man yet he has been forced to keep a crown that is now tarnished by the councils actions. Dalamar did not wish to lose the crown by default, I can only assume that he did not wish to keep the crown by default either.

Maybe I am wrong... maybe MY sense of honor is misplaced... BUT if *I* were defending my title be it the Overlord's Crown, a Baron's Ring, or the title of Swordsman, I would want to defend my title the same way I won it... in the middle of the ring, swinging my blade.

I do not leave this post in order to question any man's or woman's honor for I believe it is not my place to judge an others honor or dishonor. I leave this post instead to ask why so many Loyal Barons would seek to dishonor their Overlord.

Only the thoughts of a commoner... do with them as you will.

Ethan,
You're far from misplaced, when it comes to honor.
As you may know, I am one of the barons in that council, and I am not one who voted for the given penalties. I felt that a rematch was the fairest thing that could be done. The council makes a decision as to what should be done in such situations, and with varying circumstances, they make different choices. I do not like the decision at all, as many know and as I have voiced, but it's beyond one person's control now, it seems.
Yet, do not think Dal's honor is taken away. Dal is an honorable man, in my eyes. The only time one loses honor, is when you do so yourself.

Good luck in your future endeavors.

Simply,
Var Medici-Giovanni
