::sitting in the quietness of an empty room in m' farmhouse, reflecting upon the recent events that has nearly torn RhyDin apart........ I reach to a shelf which holds a few pieces o' parchment, an inkwell and a pen, and retrieve the tools to begin writing a letter that will be delivered to the Overlord, the Barons of the Council, the Keeper o' the standings and to the community at large...... ::

Lord Dalamar,
For over a year now, I 'ave been loyal to thee as you 'ave reigned as the Overlord of DoS. When I declared m' loyalty to thee, I did so with limited knowledge and looked to m' mentor Athlstan for guidance on the matter. Athlstan spoke highly of you, even after 'aving just lost the crown to ye in a best o' three match. I decided then, that I would be loyal to you and to your rule as Overlord unless or until a time came that your actions
or lack there of caused me to seriously question m' allegiance.
M'lord Dalamar, I renounce the decision by the Baron's Council to allow ye to be freed from your obligation to face the blade of the challenger, Warlord Huma. I hold you responsible for allowing this injustice to happen when you could 'ave easily sought a fairer ruling on behalf of Huma. At this time, I am announcing that I no longer offer m' blade in support of you and withdraw m' loyalty. Let the record reflect that I 'ave now aligned
m'self Renegade to Dalamar on this day, October 25th.

signed,

Baron AJ Bird
Defender o' the 2nd
Renegade Baron

I do recall a challenge in which Dalamar stepped in for you, AJ, while your father was on his deathbed. My second to you, in fact.

The way you treat Dalamar in the wake of a similar event strikes me as unappreciative, and downright heartless.

That's all I have to say.

M'lord Ajay,

You sir, have been a friend to me from my first day in this realm. You have always held that friendship, no matter the wiles of the public and for that you have my friendship as well.
You have my blade my friend. Send riders at speed to my estates in the mountains should you have need of the wielder.

Dear Baron AJ,

The decision of the Baron's Council does not rest well with many in Rhydin, myself included. Your straightforward manner and the distinct ring of truth in your words is pleasantly refreshing. I, for one, can appreciate the soul search undertaken, arriving at your personal decision. I may not agree with your change in alignment, for tis not mine to question...but know that I wholeheartedly agree with the motive that brought you to such.

My regards to your lovely wife Sher.

Respectfully,
Lady Noelle Medici-Giovanni

You idiot. AJ wants Dalabar to give Huma a rematch, not to have his challenge void and taken away from him until the next cycle.

Well, look at this. T'would appear that rebellion is contagious. When an Overlord becomes so arrogant that he can't even attend his own crown defenses, even the most faithful of followers are forced to part from loyalty.

:::In a rare moment of fury, Nick scribbles on the board with a silver pen:::

You fool. In what way is it arrogance that motivated Dalamar to miss his challenge match? This insinuation is on a level of stupidity only equalling those comments which claim the death of his father to be a fabrication. Go do something productive with yourself; stop wasting our time with your spiteful, pointless, uninformed, and moronic mud-slinging.

:::signs with a flourish:::

Nick, I echo your sentiments. However, I have come to the conclusion that this will not happen until we, as a community interested in the greater good, cease applauding and championing such inappropriate behavior.

"Honor" is the most abused word in this community. How can we even think honor is prevalent when all one needs to do and look around. The sad thing is there are more people like Agrenish, Skyler, Seraph, Adonai, Anon, Daniel, Richard, Jake Heart than there are of normal, rational people. This is not a normal, healthy community. It is the Agrenishes that are our spokespeople. It is the Humas that set our standards of honor. It is the Seraphs who
trumpet our glories and our shining moments that stink of offal beneath the surface. And it is the uninformed that fuel their fire and encourage their rhetoric and insults.

Only here do illogical, irrational, rude, ignorant, and mean-spirited people sway the public opinion against good, well-meaning people and ideals.

This is not the DoS that engaged my interest. Today, those that stay and find interest are those that thrive on the ugliness and the strife that runs rampant in the arena and on these boards. Ignorance attracts ignorance, mud-slingers attract mud-slingers. Who needs to be informed on anything when jumping up to the podium and encouraging loud-mouthed bullies? Who needs respect when all a person has to do is make the other person look worse and
call attention to it?

Ah, and this is what we fight for.

How pathetic.

Nick, old fellow.

Thee missed a most amusing comedic appearance las' eve. T'was someone wanderin' about claimin' ta' be Skyler, bu' twas a mos' feminine odor about him an' t'was nae th' perfume, rest assured. Tis methinks one 'o them androgynous beings or e'en mayhap a recent escapee from th' Sanatorium. In anna case, from me observation, th' personage wast rather a dim bulb.
