You say, "Huma tried once again to be a part of this community and something like this
happened. It was not his fault Dal did not show." Perhaps I should remind you that it was also not Dal's fault either, unless you think he either pulled his reasons out of thin air or he murdered his father. Being one who has spent nearly 24-hours a day with him, I can assure you that neither happened.

If Dal had left his father's side to participate in the Challenge match, there would not have been an "honor match" (one that Huma himself thought up), naturally. However, I'd have to look at the man's character a bit more carefully if he had valued this community, as fine as it is, over his family so much so that he would leave the side of his father's deathbed to attend a Challenge match.

You also say, "He felt violated once more by this community because of the unjust desicion by the council and could no longer stay in this place he loved." Why? The community, save the thirteen Barons (well, actually twelve, since Zen didn't show) in the Council, had nothing to do with the situation. What he felt was that he should get the crown without any fight whatsoever. If they had voted for a rematch, and he lost, he would have left anyway.

You feel disturbed because I have no pity for him? He lost the community because of his lies and broken promises. The people that turned their backs on him did so because of *his* actions, not because of the Council's decision. I feel equally disturbed that you would fault Dalamar for staying by his father's side.

Morgan, both you and I know that these occurances have, in the past, happened without the other happening, in both directions. I believe what Percy (or whoever it is...) was indicating that the Council seems to always be split along the lines of alignment. In this case, not a single renegade voted to annul Huma's challenge. Some Loyalists voted to have a rematch, but most of those Barons are now renegade.

To whoever's been part of this discussion:

What I offer as a "solution" to this "problem", I believe I have stated before, or at least have seen it mentioned up here before. Whatever has caused a Baron to declare their alignment has a similar effect on how they feel about other political issues. If a Baron generally agrees with the Overlord, then that Baron will agree with the Overlord on most issues, and this is not just because the Baron is following the party lines. He is following the
same pattern of thinking as the Overlord. The same can be said for renegades.

Certainly this claim can not be completely validated, but it is certainly a middle road between the two alternatives, and is a rather good interpretation of the phenomenon. I hope whoever has been part of this discussion thinks about it and offers commentary.

If my memory serves me correctly, neither did every renegade vote that Huma retain his peer wins or his right to challenge.

As per the rest of your post, I whole-heartedly agree. Sharing the same line of thinking does not automatically render a person as a lackey, a croney, a lapdog, yes-man. Just as a renegade is not automatically a nefarious criminal for not sharing the same line of thinking as the Overlord. Well, unless the Overlord is Mad Mad Max. ::grins::

I never stated that Huma's leaving was Dal's fault. I am not pointing blame on any one person but I was trying to point out that this bad twist of fate cost him his last chance at being part of this community.

I feel the barons represent the community of DoS as educated, skilled duelers. Hence if you don't agree with how a Baron holds title you challenge him and kick him out.

I doubt this. Maybe you should re-read Huma's posted reasons for retirement.

"Bah" when written down, becomes a word. Also, it's an expression which I tend to use from time to time. Technically, I suppose "Bah" can be considered a slang term for "whatever".

Taking into account the famous literary words "Bah, Humbug", for example.

I would have to concede that it is indeed a word.
