Thoughts of the Overlord

Friends and Patrons of the Duel of Swords,

My tenure as Overlord has been long and trying. I have experienced peaks and vallies of emotion, determination, and will that I never thought possible within the realm of this sport. I have wronged and been wronged by friends and enemies alike, and yet I have chosen to perservere. Numerous times people have cried for the end of my reign. I have been challenged and insulted; such is the nature of leadership. Simply, to you, the members of this
community, I shall not fold.

Baron Ajay,

Since Rix has already perfectly summed up my initial anger to your change in alignment, I shall not repeat such thoughts. I simply insist that when you sleep at night, you think about that as well. Remind yourself. Be prepared to live and die with your convictions; I know I am.

Baron Seamus,

Allow me to quote a piece of the letter changing your alignment "I think yew mayhae been a bit less than truthful on this fact and as easily as yew approached me, you wouldhae been able ta speak to those adamant about yew remainin' pristeen in the matter." You shall forgive me if I do not sit quietly and be publically called a liar. You wish to see me no longer Overlord but do not wish to be Overlord
yourself? Very well, I shall be ready for you. Do not think the job will be so easy, old friend.

respectfully,
Lord Dalamar Ar'Daumon

Overlord of the Duel of Swords
Lord of the Dale
Guardian of the Oldest House

Dalamar,

I do now offer you my blade as Jeffrey already did, in your defense against any and all challengers.

Blinded by the anger does the Overload throw his own batch of stones. Suttle threats and what now. Hoards of littlen's ready to spring out of his abyss to attack these two.Satan and Stumpenshield ready to align their everlasting blindness. Ever heard of Lemmings? Yeah.

Gods of the goats... thieves have more honor than you all. And I know because at least we threw out a leader who couldn't lead.

Dalamar,
Once again, it is brought up, the unselfish act of stepping in and interceding for me the day m' father had died. Please, do not think that that means nothing to me, because you would be wrong. Yes, on that occassion, which was the lowest point of m' life, whereas I was a defeated man even before stepping into the ring, only hours after m' father had died you defeated Rix to ensure that I may duel another day, perhaps a day when I would
give the challenger m' very best effort. Friends do this for each other......leaders do this for one that serves them to ensure that that person continues being in thy service. Your reasoning for stepping in can only be measured within your own heart but I'd like to think that being a friend had more to do with your reasoning than any other factor. And please note, I did infact live up to m' responsibilities as a Baron and Son...... I showed up
for m' challenge match and then went home to Ballentyne to bury m' father. I would 'ave met m' obligation and dueled Rix regardless o' the fact of you interceding. Are you finding fault in this?
M' decision to not be loyal is not because your father died and you didn't make the challenge match. I am saddened greatly for your loss. However, m' decision to break ranks w' the other loyalists is based on the belief that men be treated fairly, sometimes to the point when they don't deserve it. I hold a higher level o' measurement o' men when in positions o' power and I feel that at this time, I cannae offer m' blade for you. Times
change and so with it, men. Merhaps in the future, our thoughts and actions will more to each others likings. Until then, I shall remain Renegade.

Sincerely,

Baron AJ Bird
Defender o' the 2nd
Renegade Baron

Baron of the 2nd, I fear thy words will fall upon deaf ears here. For more than 4 days we did argue as a council and still those who refuse seperate the morals from the rules follow blindly behind the Overlord. Were they concerned in the least for the DoS, they would step back to take a long look at the results of their vote.

Seamus,

Do you think some of us haven't taken a good, long look at the results?

Laird Dalamar,
I am truly humbled tha' ye address me as a friend. I would hope this may continue as we press to the end. I would nae expect you tae be anythin but ready and I am aware it will nae be an easy road. To best you will be a monumental task in itself and then to spend more than a fortnight as the Overlord as challenging. Perhap we can sit and discuss the details as gentlemen. As for the public decree of what I feel, tis my opinion and you ha'e every
right to claim it false.
In respect

>I would 'ave met m' obligation and dueled Rix regardless o' the fact of you
>interceding.

Yet you did not. I will not lie and say that I still do not feel slighted and angry at the fact I was tested, because to this very day I am upset that I was tested. Had you asked me to postpone, I would have gladly done that. Yet, I believe you asked Dalamar to duel for you, and he did.

Therefore, I find fault in your logic. You could have rescheduled the match with me, yet you decided to have someone else duel for you, only on the reason that you were grieving. I am not so cruel enough to force a man to something in the wake of such a tragic event. You were there and quite capable of dueling, were you not?

Thus, I say you did not live up to your responsibility as a Baron. You had me tested for the simple fact you were mourning, not because you questioned my skill.

>However, m' decision to break ranks w' the other loyalists is based on the
>belief that men be treated fairly, sometimes to the point when they don't
>deserve it.

In that light, I believe you did not treat me fairly. You yourself did not even tell me why Dalamar stepped in. I had to find out after the match through heresay and rumors. Tell me, was that fair?

Jaycy,
I will nae argue the facts of the case wi'ye on these boards. I have challenged the Overlaird as well as put a space between those loyal to him and myself. Those facts are clear and not subject to emotion or feeling. I disagree with the outcome of the councils decision and therefore refuse to align myself with them.
How deep you looked into the matter I feel only you know. If you feel the decision was just, then rest comfortably in that.

Regards
Seamus

::short but to the point post::

Overlord of the Duel of Swords, Supreme Dueler,
Let me be the first of the Warlord community to step forward and tell you that yes, while I consider you a friend, I feel the time of your rule must needs end. I turn my back on you Dalamar, so that I may not see what will become of you.

It sometimes makes me wonder why people will call the Overlord Friend, and then turn away and not support him.

The time Dalamar's reign ends is the time someone with someone actually has the skill to beat him.

I'm still Loyal.

I grow weary of this! Must we always accuse another of "blindly" following someone when they don't agree with us?

I know this was not addressed at me, but it was a thinly veiled attack on those I consider great friends and good people.

Since many of you care little of what people think of you, you may simply ignore my words, but at the moment, I could care less. You people are beginning to look like a bunch of people who will point out the opposition's personal flaws (whether they be real or imagined), rather than discussing the topic at hand. Does this mean you've run out of good points to bring up? If it does, why don't you just let the subject be?

Call me blind, I don't care. I was called blind when defending Elijah and I've been called blind when defending Dalamar before this, so don't think that this will have me, or any of Dalamar's other supporters backpeddling by calling us blind now.

Get it straight, dear. I'm DEAF not blind.
