Keep things orderly...
An interesting turn of phrase, that.
We, the staff of the Duel of Swords, -are- deputized to "keep things orderly." However, there are very strict limits on what we are allowed to do. While there are certainly a few people I wouldn't mind watching get chucked out on there ears, they are a very few indeed.
Gnort is right, to some respect, yet wrong as well...
To take the high, hard road... to show respect to -everyone- first, judging each on their merits over time... this is the way to repair the damage done.
Of course, this won't happen. Egos are too strong, pride too much to swallow.
I show the same respect to every person who enters the ring to duel me. I show the same respect to every person who steps into a ring which I officiate. But... I also judge the actions of those I see. Once a person shows to me they deserve no more respect, that is when they lose it, not before.
Still, even then, there are the minimum courtesies.

You said that respect must be earned, but how can one earn respect when not given a chance. You said that not all rookies were disrespectful and whatever else you said, but you still made a broad statement that rookies don't want to learn the ways of DoS which is grossly untrue. Why do you think so many rookies come every night to watch and participate in the duels? It's because they WANT to learn. Maybe if some of the veteran duelers would take
some time to help and teach them, they would be more worthy of your respect.

Seems to me there's two items here. Courtesy and respect to all in general and courtesy and respect specifically to the RDIs.
Only the RDI's have the power to refuse service to the disrupters. They can also begin an official "shun" that the rest of the folks can take part in, too, as well as do it when an RDI ain't in the room to see such bad manners.
If a group of disrespectful, immature, lamebrains are making DoS look bad and running off folks with potential, maybe they don't deserve a chance to duel in here in the first place.

That specific portion of the note by Mimi was in reference ~ONLY~ to the way the customers treat the on duty RDI..... It is simply not within our sphere of influence to ~force~ anyone to behave in a specific manner toward anyone else, as long as the rules of the Inn and the Dueling Arena's are not broken.
As to an *official shun*..... Should ANY RDI sanction something such as that, it would be my suspision that the Head Innkeeper would most likely have our heads on platters..... The only exception to that would be when a duelist is banned from dueling for a cycle, and even then they can still visit the Arena and other dueling rooms should they wish to. They simply are not allowed to duel officially. And believe me, it takes much more than
disrepectful behaviour to cause someone to be banned.
