I think I missed something here - were any answers to Drake's riddles given yet?
Btw, as a sidepoint, only a few characters play roles in both the Hobbit and LoTR: Gandalf, Bilbo, Gollum, and I might have missed one or two. However, the setting is the same, though.

I began the reading the books when I was about 11 years of age and found it very hard to keeep up. I guess I really oughta read the last one...

So the RDI Gloin I know and admired was nothing more than some character in a book?
I thought Luthien was a real queen married to Roland and captain of the Femme Fatales.

What goes through the door without pinching itself?
What sits on the stove without burning itself?
What sits on the table and is not ashamed?

I believe that only the first three went to Moria (pg. 277 in my copy), actually.
