Jonalyn Nenshen Starfare,

You write: " We shall see if she, at last, hast the fortitude to stand forth before the community."

I am curious as to why the Baroness must stand before the community due to your opinions, my lady, and that is all they seem to be. Please, allow me to show what I mean.

You would bring the Baroness before a judge and jury (the community) to stand trial. In doing so, they (the community) ask the prosecutor (you) what charges have been brought; to which you say "The act of being dishonorable and deceitful." The community nods and then asks "In what way?" which you answer with silence.

With all due respect, my lady, you have no case to demand the Baroness to stand before the community until you reveal why you accuse such.

You are welcome to your opinion, but until you have offered some form of evidence, the Baroness is in no way obligated to "stand forth before the community." Either put her on trial, my lady, or allow the others of the community to form their own opinions of the Baroness.

Just please stop making a fool of yourself by making claims with no visible backing.
Regards,

Jason Nilere

The commoner tacks a missive to the corkboard.

Shokeno.

I was graced to witness the manifestation of the Guardian during the recent closure of the rings. The power of the wards wast nae only renewed but had grown in strength for in that it was nae called upon to guard and preserve the lives of those who do tread upon the sands and bring blade to bear. Indeed, the power of the wards wast such that the Guardian himself wast able to manifest a fleshly image and nae that of the spirit that he hast so long
been his fate. Therefore tis nae that the power of the wards had ebbed its magics. I do so nae wish to burst thine bubble. I get plenty of fresh air, thank ye for commenting. Thou mayest live only in the here and now, tis mayhap that be thine microcosm, a pity thou livest in such a small universe, though thou art certes welcome to it. Shall I then take it thee hast nae past nor canst conceive of anna future? A pity.

Informatively.

Madame Elgarette,

Wherefore shouldst I chastise the Guardian? T'was nae he that didst tamper with the wards. But in light of thine past comments, such as this one comes as nae surprise. Thou bloweth with the wind, Sidartha, ast e'er tis thine nature.

Madame Elgarette

Thine statement ast follows ist most amusing."Well, perhaps we should discuss the children you have torn from the hands of their mothers instead. I know of enough people with plenty of proof of this." Considering the fact that thee know little or nothing of the matter, I shall leave thee to thine vitriol and bile and shall pity thine bairns for the example thou presents ast a mother. Or perhaps we might discuss thine collusion with those who
didst rain destruction upon fair Questrion, or perhaps shall we discuss thine collusion and negotiations with he that wast the sworn enemy of mine darling husband and of the inhabitants of most of the enlightened of the Inner Realms, or mayhap shall we ponder thine vitriol directed at the former Overlord Duke Leto for employing the Test of Worthiness, for which thou now so staunchly defended M'lord Dalamar? Thee continue in thine ways and do oft
tread upon thine tongue, tis it must prove now and agin, rather painful, neh?

The commoner tacks a missive to the corkboard.

Percival Marchand de Clermont,
Baron Gimmzak,
Baron Magnus,
Master Jason Nilere,
And to those of the Community.

I have stilled pen and tongue in the face of the diatribes, awaiting the Baroness to step forward. I shall wait nae longer.

The truth of the matter with regard to the Baroness Jaycynda Ashleana ist thus.
The Lady didst nae present a proper and legitimate challenge unto the Baron Evan Rush Lynth in that the offered peer wins were invalid and were in fact invalidated by the then Standings Keeper, Golden Evermeadow. Madame Ashleana then didst bypass Master Evermeadow and didst petition Lady Helix Girvin, this despite the most public of notices clarifying what would be considered a valid peer win, that notice posted by none less than the Standings
Keeper himself upon this very corkboard.

Madame Helix Girvin didst then, with seeming complete and utter disregard for nae only the rules but for the expertise of Master Evermeadow didst permit the challenge to stand. By her mechanations, Madame Ashleana didst thereby prevent any "legitimate" challenge to be brought forth against the then Baron Evan Rush Lynth. For a warlord, most especially one who dost seek to gain the title of Baron to so disregard the rules of engagement, nae e'en
more, to disregard the ruling of the Keeper of the Standings, a proper and correct ruling, I might add, and to knowingly offer improper challenge ist in mine mind, appalling. For her to continue in her deceit e'en beyond her first defense of the ring ist, in me humble opinion, nae the act of an "honorable sportsman" nor an example to those of new come to the community, nor the example I, nor I would hope, any who do make claim to hold honor or truth
in high regard wouldst wish those who do come unto these hallowed rings in future to emulate.

Thou Percival and those others who wouldst defend the Baroness ast honorable, may, of course, continue to do so. Those of thee who insist that tis only the "rules" that should be looked to may continue to do so. Those of thee with the wit to seek truth and honor may find a simple perusal of the history shall tell the tale.

Bluntly.

Backbiter,

Jaycynda posted her peer wins because Helix told her, BEFORE she posted them, that they were legal peer wins when Golden received the reports from the RDI. Golden invalidated the challenge because it was his opinion that the peer wins were not valid because he had not yet posted the standings. His interpertation of the rules was the correct one, and he was correct to invalidate the challenge.
Jaycy was also correct to inform Helix, because it was Helix who had given her the incorrect information that led her to make her challenge prematurely. Thus Helix and Golden, together, allowed the challenge to go forward to atone for Helix's mistake. There was no deceit or dishonour involved in the actions of any of the parties involved.
You, ma'am, are merely indulging in your favorite pasttime. Attacks upon others.

To the community.

Let it be known that the duel between Lupton and Anon had -nothing-, I repeat, -nothing- to do with the Duel of Swords, save perhaps the fact that Anon was a participant in the sport and Lupton has been a participant in the past.
Anyone who thinks what I did was done on a "whim" is either foolish in the extreme, does not know me well, or merely seeks to portray me as something I am not.
In addition, the idea that my powers are "so great" is also a falicy. But, as the Gaurdian himself said, the Ward is not infalible, and there are times when it's lowering is requested or required.
I have given thought to explaining how I was able to temporarily disrupt the Ward... but I feel that doing so would lead to others, perhaps not quite so level headed, to tamper with them as Baroness Morgan described.
I stand by my actions as an individual. I was -not- acting in an official capacity that night, and therefore my actions have -no- relevance towards my duties as an official of the Duel of Swords.
Once again, I thank you for your time.

::reads the charge::

::re-reads the charge::

Simply, Helix was mistaken and should have retracted whatever she told Jaycynda was correct and supported Golden's very valid right to make the decision he did. The rules clearly say that peer wins cannot be used for challenge purposes until posted in the standings. I just cannot see how else that can be interepreted.

However, Helix did not make the retraction, and the challenge was allowed to go forward. I am given to understand that another person was wrongly denied his challenge to Evan despite his following proper procedure. Why was this person outright cheated because of a mistake someone else made that he had no control over?

This is very difficult for me to say as I find Jaycynda to be an exceptionally fine and decent person, perhaps one of the kindest people I have ever met, but I cannot ignore the blatant disregard for the rules. How many months did we cry out against people making hasty invalid challenges? How many weeks did we discuss over and over, as a community, what the penalty should be for improperly serving a challenge?

The challenge was tainted and this is so very unfortunate. I do not know what else to say except I am very disheartened to find out about this and extend my sympathies toward Jaycynda as this is not an easy burden to bear. I hope this can be resolved in the best way possible for everyone.

Regretfully,

Morgan

Perhaps Helix felt, since it had been her mistake that caused Jaycy to make the preciptious challenge, that it was not Jaycy's fault the challenge was invalidated. I can certainly understand this viewpoint, and see no problem with either Jaycy's conduct or Helix's after the mistake was made. Jaycy was told, by the DoS supervisor, that something was legal, so she believed it. She found out an error was made, and informed the supervisor. The
supervisor then, ON HER OWN DECISION AND NOT BECAUSE JAYCY INSISTED, admitted her error to Jaycy and Golden and she and Golden allowed the challenge to proceed.
If Jona, Morgan, or anyone else has issue with this, the issue is with Helix and Golden. Jaycy did not use any machinations or dirty tricks, she merely told Helix that the information Helix gave her was wrong. Helix chose to rectify the situation. I cannot blame her for doing so, in fact, I would have done the same as Helix had I made such a mistake.

Jonalyn,

While some of your facts are correct, indeed some are not. As you have finally come forth, so will I.

Yes, the challenge was sent prematurely, on mistaken information. Yes, it was sent to Goldendust and Helix for review. And yes, it was allowed to commence after said discussion. However, there is one thing that you have overlooked in your accusations.

I *did not* personally send the challenge letter. The week the challenge letter was sent, I was *not* in RhyDin. The letter had been written some days before, and had been placed in my office, where it was to be sent properly. However, Monday afternoon, after an attack upon both myself and Jola Fici by Khan Jorah, both she and I were taken to Wil's ship, and away from RhyDin, for our protection. At that time, Wil took us both on our way to get my
leg fixed, and I did *not* return until Friday afternoon, one hour before my match with the former Baron. I was unaware that my servant and friend, Joel, had found the letter Tuesday morning, and had sent it for me, not knowing the challenge rules. Only when I came back did I find out. You claim me to be dishonorable and deceitful because I *did not* know the situation.

Simply,
Jaycynda Ashleana

(( Author's Note: The rules discussion between Helix and I was an OOC event, and should not be connected with Jaycynda the character as her doing. The challenge notice was sent with the full intent of being a valid challenge, and it was only through a mistake was it not, to which I responded OOC asking for review. ))

Madame Ashleana

Tis thee were the warlord making challenge, tis thee were the warlord who didst list thine wins, tis thee were the warlord who one wouldst presume wouldst know the proper manner in which to make challenge. To lay blame upon your servant for thine own errors but compounds thine perfidy, Madame. Thine challenge wast by the rules improper. Dost plead ignorance of the rules of engagement?

Once you realized what your servant did, why did you continue with the challenge? You could have easily withdrawn and reissued challenge when you were able to.

I do not think it is appropriate for challenges to be served in the name of a Warlord or Baron who did not give express consent to do so.

Jonalyn,

Not once did I lay blame upon Joel for sending the letter. I did however state that is what happened, so the community may know all the facts in regard to the challenge before passing judgment.

No, I do not plead ignorance of the rules, m'lady, but I do plead ignorance of the situation as it happened.. while I was gone. There is a difference, and while I did make a mistake in my handling of the situation, I was not ever attempting to deceive anyone, or to dishonor the spirit of the Duel of Swords.

I ask now if you have further grievance with me on this matter, you attain the rank of Warlord and issue challenge to remove me.

Simply,
Jaycynda Ashleana
