::Shakes his head after browsing the corkboard, then quietly whispers to himself:: Wonder if Jeff has started wearing his ring around his neck, since it's cutting the blood off to his head. ::shrugs and wanders off muttering:: And people wonder why men like me change our minds about things we do and say.

>>Do ya seek ta make him fight one duel which we all know can be a matter of luck, or force him ta rely on a champion and go back on his word? <<

See folks.. even Jeff agrees that if Dal tests he'll be going back on his word.

>>Ya should also know, Var, and everyone else; Dalamar offered Best of 3 FIRST. If he does name a champion it will be because Seamus has declinded his offer and it is his ONLY other option ta a single duel.<<

And what is so very wrong with fighting a single duel? Is a single duel such a terrible thing? Has not Dal defended his title with a single duel before and won?
I have to wonder, once again, at Jeff's real intentions and desires. It seems that he, for some reason, WANTS Dal to look bad. And he is using his Loyalty to Dal as the excuse to make it happen.

> If it is a trap, well sir I do find dishonor in it.

Jeff, I believe ye spoke these words, and I would just like to put in that if I see a champion, I shall see dishonor in that. Champion or not, however, Seamus shall be the next Overlord. No champion shall fight him, for if one does appear, my blade shall take him from the ring.

Duel well Seamus

::Steps back to the corkboard to put up a note::

People, what is wrong with one duel? Renegade barons and select loyals have to use one duel to defend themselves. If the overlord can use the best of three, why not barons? Surely they have aspired above the normal patron of the rings. I feel what's good for one is good for all. The overlord should defend himself in the same one duel manner as the barons, which I had planned had the council not made it's own laws in my challenge. But I digress, and
shall return to my retirement...

Jeff,
It's Dal's fault that he is trapped. It was him who said he would not use the test to appease Kal, and now it is backfiring on him.
Maybe he'll be more careful next time.
On a final note, I know Seamus declined the best of three, but if Dal were to stick by his own policies in the first place, as opposed to swaying back and forth just to get another loyal, then there would have been no dispute. Besides, Seamus isn't taking away Dal's right to have a champion. If Dal wants to test Seamus, then he can. Not that many people would respect him after that, but it's the price of compromising yourself.

In regards to the matter of the match, the former Overlord Percival and I once discussed how we both thought the Overlord challenge should be one match to the finish. I still find it a most honorable and challenging format.

Wits are of equal footing with luck.

My opinion on the Best of Three is that the duelist with the greater skill shall be victorious in the end. Anyone can get lucky in one single match, but it takes actual skill to defeat an opponent in two out of three matches.

::laughs:: Percy, yer da only one in all of Rhydin dat believes I'm tryin' ta make Dal look bad. If I wanted Dal ta look bad, would I have fought so hard ta keep him as Overlord? Would I have fought so hard ta see he is not disgraced?

I hear a crackin', oh its da limb Percy crawled out on ta scribe his post.

Sheesh, at least Var and Magnus post intelligent replies ta me.

You ahven't fought very hard to see that he was not disgraced. In fact, you have done everything you could to disgrace him. You fought that duel with Huma, a damn stupid thing for both of you to do, trying to take things out of the hands of thew Council. That certainly didn't make you or Dal look good. Then you denied Dalamar his rightful chance to uphold his honor in a rescheduled challenge. Someone who truly was Loyal to the Overlord in his
heart would have wanted him to fight rather than stain his record.
Then you started exhorting Dalamar to break his oath. Yes, he has the same right to change his mind as everyone else. He also has a greater responsibility to keep his word than anyone else. You seem to want him to act in an irresponsible, even frivolous manner.
Finally, you do everything you can to accuse Seamus of some sort of dishonourable act. At the same time, you exhort the Overlord to stain his own honor. It would seem to me that your motives are highly suspect.
I ask again, why are you trying so hard to convince Dalamar to make choices that damage his credibility? Why do you work so hard to damage his credibility by your own actions?

Thee write: "For one who tells others that they have no business dabbling in such things, you certainly speak your mind a lot. For instance, the matter of MISS Jaycynda Ashleana's challenge. What went on is between herself, her servant and those involved with making the decisions regarding the matters of challenge, at that time Helix and Golden."

The matter of a warlord "cheating" to gain a challenge ist a matter for the entire community, tis that simple.

Ast to the matter 'o Gavilean's son, me stepson, Tristian, I wouldst verra strongly suggest ye dinna go there lass, for thee aire treading on verra thin ice.

I will go there- do explain the "matter" of your stepson.

Waiting for some explanation,

Lady Starfare...

You write... "Ast to the matter 'o Gavilean's son, me stepson, Tristian, I wouldst verra strongly suggest ye dinna go there lass, for thee aire treading on verra thin ice."
And just what will you do, Regent, now that Collie has "gone there"? Making threats to hide your actions is hardly the act of an honorable woman.
