This night, December 17, Jaycynda Ashleana did witness and officiate the Baronial Challenge for the right to bear the Thirteenth Ring, between Baron Magnus Eques and Warlord Morn'lythe shena Jor'ethan.

The Warlord dueled for the honor of Lady Aiya Salem, with Xyclone standing as his second. His colors were that of his sigil, four intertwining quarter moons, crimson and black. He dueled this night with his cursed scimitar, Cthulhu.

This eve the Baron dueled for the honor of his deceased mother, who he feels still watches over him, and Strallen Corackshnea stood as his second. Wielding the hatchet that lies at his side, "Drachen's Hatchet", and his sword, "Dual Blade", he fought under the colors of Polaris, Black with a red star in the middle.

The duel was as follows...

Round One:
There is no doubt of Magnus's skill, and in this first round, there is no exception. Striking out swiftly, he scores with a wicked cut below... However, Mornlythe's skill is not to be undermined either, and he keeps pace with the Baron, retaliating high.
(( HC/LC ))
1-1

Round Two:
Carefully, the Baron and Warlord circle the other, waiting for that perfect moment to move. And so Mornlythe sees it... or so he thinks. The Baron, spying the move, begins his defensive measures... but too late, finds out Morn's thrust is indeed a feint, and falters as he tries to fancy sidestep away.
(( LC/FSS ))
2-1 Morn

Round Three:
The Baron, knowing he is now a point behind, must regain it, without giving up any more to his opponent... And so he tries. As with the first round, he manages a blow below, but once again, Morn returns one in kind up above.
(( HC/LC ))
3-2 Morn

Round Four:
Perhaps these men are not men of caution, and find little use for defense... It would certainly seem so as they have both given, and taken their hits. However, this time it is Morn who takes the hit, as Magnus thrusts, before he can duck out of the way.
(( TH/FDU ))
3-3

Round Five:
The time to strike is indeed now, and they both know it. This has been a swift and bloody battle, and the results of this round are no different. For the third time in this match, Magnus scores a hit on Morn's legs, while Morn slices the Baron's upper body once again.
(( HC/LC ))
4-4

Round Six:
It has been a swift match, and in it, defense has proven to not be working very well... And yet, once again the Baron tries his hand at defense. He spies the swift movement of the cursed scimitar, and responds in kind. Sweeping his blade down swiftly, the Baron's fancily done circular parry is just the thing to stop Morn's low cut.
(( FCP/LC ))
5-4 Magnus

And thus, Sir Magnus Eques retains his right to Bear the Thirteenth Ring of the Duel of Swords, defeating the challenger with a score of five to four.

(( Maxim128 def. Mornlythe, 5-4 in 6 rounds. ))

Well defended Magnus! Keep up the good work!

Mornlythe, it was well tried. Mayhap your next try will be more successful.

After perusing the various missives and comments regarding the Baron Magnus as well as those of the Baron Cletus, she pens a note then walks away in disgust.

The silence deepens.
