Parting words...
Date: 9/4/97 1:32 AM Pacific Standard Time
From: Bapheloc
Swords Community,
It is hard for me at this juncture to express into words the things I am feeling now. Be assured that every emoition a being can feel is being put through the wringer this morning as I am prepared to leave RhyDin. From positive to negative, from right to wrong, I have thought on a great many things. A part of me does not want to go and another part of me knows I must go. It is hard for me to do this, but I know it is something I feel is for the best.
I am from an older breed of dueler, from a time long gone never to return. There have been some things that have come about in these rings that I have liked and I have hated. There have been people who have come to these rings who I have liked and who I have hated. There have been many a time and a memory I have spent in these rings that I have liked and I have hated. Some, including myself, call the Duel of Swords a sport, yet I often address it as a community. It is indeed both, for the
sport has brought many together into a community in a common bond that probably would not otherwise bring people together on other merits.
DoS will never be the way it once was, the way I preferred, and I know that. Perhaps that is why I am leaving, because the sport and the community is not fitting for one such as myself. I have seen almost every Overlord's reign, except Gondar's and Me Monk's. I have been a student, and I have been a teacher. I have been at the bottom of the barrel to the point in which a former Standings Keeper once posted a record worse dueling record for a dueler of my own, as a embarrassing 43-117-8, to
being a Baron of DoS with only a 20+ WoL record from winning a Warlord's Tourney. I have been on my own and I have lead a House in which an Overlord was from, and several Barons. I have found myself at every facet of the community I think one can be apart.
I am not bragging, I am simply letting the community know I have worn many hats here and I tried my best to do the best I could in each of them. I have tried to be as respectful as I could be and do what I felt was right. Often I have been the minority. I will always stand by in what I believe, and will defend that which I have done. However, I realize my place is no longer here in the rings or on RhyDin. I once enjoyed this place more then any other place, and now I wonder in doubt if I
will ever return here. Perhaps I am doing nothing more then rambling final thoughts before I depart, but for me I feel as if I must let the community know my final thoughts.
I leave this last bit of advice, wisdom, or whatever one wishes to call it upon you all. Remember what the Duel of Swords is to others and to yourself. It is both a sport and a community, it is a place to start and find a life and a place to lose your life. Many a dueler has met a brother, a sister, a comrade, a loved one to an intimate friend eventually within these rings from being apart of the community. There is more here then ranks, records, and titles. And some wonder why some are so
serious, becuase for them this is a great part of thier world.
Everyone has thier own code of ethics and thier terms of Honor, and I definitently beseech you all to stay true to thyself, but to learn from others. Above all else, more then anything, have respect for not only the sport but those who are of the sport. Learn the rules, learn the customs, learn the way of comardery of your dueling peers. Learn what DoS means to yourself and to others and respect your place and others place in this sport and in this community.
For now I wish you all the best and hope you all find your happiness without hurting others. May you all find your dreams and attain the goals you desire here. Bright Night with fair travels, and always with skill and honor to thyself and thy own.

Bapheloc,
Ye, as with many others, are a great dueler. And as many others have done, ye are now moving onto a better place. I wish you luck and prosperity in your travels.
Sincerely,
Philip Kardinal

Baphe..
Perhaps you will return one day... I will look foreward to it..
I will remember the moments of friendship long into times passing.... and I wish this blessing for you...
May the road rise to meet you...
May the wind be always at your back..
May the sun shine warm upon your face...
The rains fall soft upon your fields..
And until we meet again..
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.
