Challenge to the 7th

Members of the Dueling community,

For some strange reason that is beyond me the match between Baron of the 7th, Damon Black and myself was not listed under the standings at the turn of the week. So, to whom it may concern and for those who wish to attend, the match is tommorow, Saturday the 16th at 9PM EST...(I believe, rather hope that's when it still is...I haven't heard from Damon in quite awhile). Formalities will be handled at the match...until then, Skill and Honor.

Daelin...

It appears that Bridgette had forgotten to inform Ms. Jansen of your match... She tells me that she has consulted with Lord Evermeadow and, after verifying the validity of your challenge, wishes both you and the Baron luck in your upcoming duel...
Myself, I'm hoping whoever wins will be ready for Adonai... he's not likely to hold back.

::looks through the plethora of Challenge posts::

::chuckles:: Must be challenge season again....

::tacks up a small missive::

Good luck ta the both of you, though, with two such skilled duelist's, I doubt luck will come much into play. Still, may the better man win.

Dae,
Be the better man.

Daelin,

Just do your best. Fight your fight. Oh, and win of course. You know how the boss wants more rings in the House.

Percy just reminded me of something...how many rings does G's house have in it now? Two or three?

Now correct me if i am wrong, but when Questrion had three rings to it...the community came unglued. I know why, but does anybody else have a clue as to why nobody has said a word about G'nort's house? (::can't spell the house's name::))

Huma,

I would think because they are all not aligned the same way within that house. The same thing happened with Rising when there were a couple rings and challenges being made, and they thought it was a conspiracy.. But G's house isn't under that assumption because of the different alignments within.

>>Percy just reminded me of something...how many rings does G's house have in it now? Two or three?<<

If I remember correctly, there are currently 3 rings in HDT. G's, Jaycy's, and Gimmzak's. Why has no one accused HDT of conspiracy? Well, number one, all those who hold rings in HDT are currently Loyal. In my experience it tends to be the ultra--loyalist clique within the Arena that most enjoys making such accusations. Why would they accuse Loyal Barons of a conspiracy?
Number two, everyone knows that HDT is not a political organization. We tend to put friendships before politics. My friendship to G is more important to me than his degree of support for Dalamar or my degree of opposition to Dalamar. I accepted his invitation to join HDT because of that friendship, and not because of my politics or his. I am also friends with more than a few of HDT's other members, whose attitude towards the Overlord ranges from
loyalty to opposition to indifference. With this tendency towards individuality on the issue of politics, a conspiracy would be hard to carry off. After all, there aren't enough of us who really agree politically.

From the Desks of the House Dragoon-Talanador Public Relations Staff

"A group of friends dueling under the same name." That is and always has been the main purpose of House Dragoon-Talanador... to be a place where friends can share common interests and celebrate their differences without strife. HDT welcomes people without regard to politics, race, gender, or rank. Togetherness while retaining individuality has always been a major goal within the House, and it is a place which allows and encourages growth, both in
skill and in personal areas. HDT could be considered more of a family... while people may not agree, they agree to disagree.

House Dragoon-Talanador does not support any faction as a group, and each member of the House carries their own opinions, and is free to express them. Regardless of rank, it is the belief of the HDT staff that all members are peers and equal, and are treated as such. Lastly, all members are encouraged to do their very best, and achieve their goals, whatever they may be.

It is the nonpolitical stance as a group that has thus far removed doubts of a "conspiracy" within the Arena, and it is our hope at House Dragoon-Talanador to be recognized as a "family," coming together despite personal differences for the betterment of ourselves and each other.

Jaycynda Ashleana
HDT Public Relations Manager

PS - Of course, this could just be part of G's evil plot to take over first the Arena, and then the world.. hehe.

"It is the nonpolitical stance as a group that has thus far removed doubts of a "conspiracy" within the Arena..."

Jaycy blinks as she rereads this, and enlists the aid of a random patron, having them scratch out "doubts" and write in "thoughts."

Sighing a bit, she fades away.

No, the reason why there has not been much said is because of what you said next:

"Number two, everyone knows that HDT is not a political organization."

When Questrion and then House Rising pronounced their goals, it was not primarily becaues of "friendship" but primarily about politics: take over the baronies and oppose Dalamar.

It is amusing how you forget your own words and goals to suit your fancy.

Morgan,
I'm confused by your last statement. Who forgot their own words if they wrote the words you quoted?
With the things I don't know, I just make reasonable assumptions. Thus when I hear things like your last statement, I am honestly perplexed. Mind clearing it up?

Not anything against my dear friend Gnort's House at all, but I for once agree with Huma. Also, when members of my old house (yanno, ol' House L-L) started going for and gaining Rings, the Community all but lynched them. What's the deal here?

Put simply,

Those other Houses, L-L, Questrion, Rising(at the time) all had similar goals.

L-L wanted a majority of the council, as was told to me by a member of that House as it was happening.

Questrion was all going in one direction. When one changed alignment, they all did.

Rising announced it's intention of blocking the tests, and to do such, would need to have the rings.

They all had a goal with the Title.

HDT doesn't, really. It's quite possible that we would have up to 5-6 Barons in HDT, and there would be some Loyal, some Neutral, and some Renegade. We don't all follow the same purpose and we all have our own plans, so to speak.

There's no conspiracy because you need to have a purpose or plan for that to happen. HDT has neither.

Hope that clears it up.

Var,

Percival made comment about why people, more specifically loyal barons, opposed houses with several barons before (specifically, House Questrion and House Rising) and speculated erroneously that it was because the previous houses were set against the Overlord while HDT has three members who are also loyal barons. Basically, he was trying to tell everyone why loyals do what they do and using incorrect information to support his hypothesis.

The fact of the matter is that HDT is not a politically minded house as he has admitted, just as Atrebla is not, and instead is a house committed to comraderie and friendship. The previously mentioned houses quite publicly stated political intentions and that is why they were opposed.

I daresay that any house that sets itself up with political motivations would be opposed by the populus outright, regardless of whether they support the Overlord or oppose the Overlord.

Some research on the matter to show that House Questrion and House Rising had made very clear political statements follows.

Regarding House Questrion, I direct your attention to the archives of history*. Here you will find ample evidence that Questrion was not acting as a friendly dueling house but rather acting as a very definite political body, as noted by the notorized copy of the letter to the community written by Moralitor**.

A quote: "Recently a group of Barons from Questrion chose to align themselves Renegade to stand against the self serving interests of our Overlord. Interests that are well known to the community. Personal records and personal glory. There are those of us in House Questrion that believe the titles, Overlord and Baron mean that you give up individual desires and goals and serve the community as a whole. With the loyal stable of Barons that Dalamar
had interceeding in his behalf, we chose to serve the community and become your voice against these intercessions."

Var, I hope you remember you own stances regarding this situation.

Also attached is a notorized copy of House Rising's initial mission statement*** that clearly defined the house as a politically motivated organization.

A quote: " We will oppose the Test of Worthiness without fail or partiality, regardless of the popularity or unpopularity of the challenger. We will champion challengers against the Overlord's Intercession, again impartially and without prejudice, because we respect the right of all to challenge. Finally, we will oppose any Overlord who does not respect our opinions and at least be willing to discuss them calmly and honorably without recourse to
either dogma or personal insult."

I hope you find your own words, again, in response to this. I also found something quite illuminating considering the about face you have made these past few months. More specifically, it has to do with the actual ToW and renegade champions.

I hope this clears matters up for you and you now understand which of Percival's words I was referring.

Morgan
