Lupton,

Apparently you missed the point, some older people are not of sound mind. You say Children, USUALLY, can not. Welcome to Rhydin, Lup. Children in Rhydin aren't all at the same level of understanding here.

Collie,

Children are not responsible to make adult decisions, in RhyDin, on Earth, or in any other reality. That is why they have parents. To make those decisions and to take care of them and teach them how to make those decisions. With recent events, notably what appears to be the death of Dalamar due to a duel, I would have to look very disapprovingly upon the notion of children dueling. Even if this had not occurred, the idea of children competing on
equal footing with adults is inappropriate.
I certainly don't think children should duel without parental supervision, and I certainly don't think parents should encourage their children in such pursuits too soon. I don't think they should actively discourage them, but children should compete with children and adults with adults. Simply on the basis of fairness.

Percival

To which "Earth" dost refer? Tis I am aware 'o at least seven alternate planes 'o reality wi' regard ta' th' planet called most commonly "Earth" though tis also referred ta ast "Terra" an' "Gaia". I should also ponder just how manna "realities" thee hae visited. I am aware 'o planes an' realities wherein "children" hae nae "birth" parents, bu' aire cloned from genetic material an' raised by society ast a whole. Tis well known th' injuries 'appen
in the rings, th' wards nae withstanding. Tis th' issue be making all aware, adults an' children alike 'o th' 'ealin' nature 'o th' wards. Tis Auritan the Meek hae placed 'pon th' cork a comprehensive missive, perhaps thee wouldst peruse it.

If thee seek "fairness", Percival, then perhaps thee shouldst consider dueling only those wh' match thine height, weight an' weaponry, nae by age. Tis methinks an adult 'human' wouldst nae be able to compete wi' an "child' giant or ogre or a dragon, neh? Tis 'children' hae competed on an 'equal' footing in these ancient hall, long afore ye set foot in th' duelin' 'ouse, an' now thee wish to remove th' 'equal' stance. Ast to 'children' bein' able
ta make 'responsible decisions', thee certes know verra little 'o children, nor do thee seem to grant they hae intelligence. I should wonder just 'ow manna children thee actually hae met ta imply th' 'children' ast a group be incapable 'o makin' 'responsible' decisions.

Children anywhere aren't all at the same level of understanding, Collie. The only thing to come with age is experience, not maturity or wisdom. One child may be entirely mentally ready to duel at eight, but every night we see examples of adults who sulk if they lose. This is why the very nature of this proposal is unfair. No, we are not going to start blocking certain species from the ring, but only a parent truly knows if their child is ready to
duel. It's not automatic wisdom deposited in the mind at the age of fourteeen.
