Call for investigation

Gentles and the Community at large.

Here for thine perusual ist a copy of the missive I hae sent unto Master Golden Evermeadow with regard to what appears to be a breech of trust committed by one Karen Jansen, designated Standings Keeper of these ancient halls.
**************************************

Master Golden Evermeadow

I am calling upon thee to investigate the circumstances where in the Standings Keeper Ms. Karen Jansen didst break the confidentiality of her position in that she didst inform certain personages nae directly involved and, prior to the official announcement, of the challenge presented by Lord Eros Hunrai Marzanhe DeBurgo unto the former Overlord Dalamar Ar'Daumon, to wit though possibly not limited to: One Madame Drakewyn Alabaster Silvertree
and one Karen Wilder. Ms Wilder then rather loudly and afore witnesses in the basement didst announce unto those present that she seemed fully privy to the exchange of missives t'wixt the standings keeper, the challenger, the Barons, thineself and the former Overlord, Dalamar Ar'Daumon.

T'would appear the Standings Keeper, Ms. Karen Jansen, canna be trusted to hold such information privily until such time as either the challenger or the one challenged should choose to announce a challenge for title unto the public, which, I might add, flies in the face of tradition. Should it be ascertained that indeed Ms. Karen Jansen didst break the confidentiality of her position ast I hae stated, I call fer her resignation ast Standings Keeper
of the Duel of Swords.

I didst give me word unto Eros Hunrai Marzanhe DeBurgo that I wouldst nae bring this matter to the attention of thee and the community afore his challenge unto Lord Dalamar Ar'Daumon. I hae kept mine word. I now place this before both thee, Master Evermeadow and before the community.

Tis the Standings Keeper hast and should, by tradition and honor, keep such information privily until such time ast the Standings Keeper announces the validation of the bona fides, following nae preceding, an official announcement unto the community by the challenger or challenged. Tis the position ist one of trust and honor. Ms. Karen Jansen hast seemingly quite blithely broken that trust with her actions and premature announcements.

Jonalyn Nenshen Starfare.

Now all ya know me fer who I am, da forever Emperor of Commoners, which is being temperarly held by Andrew cause I be no commoner any longer:) But nuff with that.

Jona, you know that I hold nothing against you, or anyone else for that matter, but as of late, I have noticed a trend of which you have continually, for lack of better words, bashed, RDI's for the job that they are doing. I have no quarl with you, or anyone fer that matter, I just feel that it is time I speak my mind, and speak my mind I am:)

I ask this of you, and it tis a simple request...become a RDI yourself, Jona. The job is not an easy one. I know because I have been one. I would still be one if it were not of matters out of this world.

As for Karen letting her tongue slip, I presume for I was not there when it did and this whole thing went down, we all make mistakes, yet are we always thrashed so hard for them? I am sure it was a mistake, and yes, it should not of been said, but it was and it cannot be taken back for none of us can travel to the past to undo what has already been done.

Just to restate the start, I am not holding no grudges, nor any ill will. I am simply asking why do you persist to bash the RDI's for somethings that they have done? They, after all, are allowed to make mistakes every now and then.

Jona, what proof do you have of this?

I have seen you bash people constantly, and I believe it's a telling measure of the DoS community's tolerance and friendliness that people even listen to what you have to say, especially since, as Jola said, you contribute nothing.

I hate to point this out, Cas, but just for reference, I believe the talley on your contributions has reached the level "slightly less than nothing." I'd also like to be personally excluded from all of your generalizations in the future, especially since as we know, all generalizations are false.

The angel and gnome peek around the valheru. The 20th Overlord of the duel of swords raises a finger and begins to open his mouth, then looks at his beloved angel and falls back in a fit of laughter.

The angel maintains composure as she gently pokes her ex-husband, Adonai, as he walks off, the quiver of a silly smile unseen on her divine visage.

"Oh too rich, dragon lord", calls out the still prone over-gnome.

Lady Starfare,

After receiving your missive, I did begin a small investigation into the matter. After having a small discussion, I've discovered a bit of information that can clear this matter up. A short conversation with now Overlord Eros DeBurgo helped me to uncover the truth. And the truth is that the Standings Keeper, Miss Jansen, did nothing wrong. According to Eros, he himself told Miss Karen Wilder about his challenge to Lord Ar'Daumon approximately
three days before the formal challenge was submitted. Thus she did not obtain her information from Miss Jansen as you stated. As far as Lady Drakewyn Silvertree is concerned, I have found no evidence of her even being present in the Arena during the time span in question. She has stated that she never knew of the challenge until it was announced to the public, and I have found no evidence to the contrary. Thus it is my conclusion that the
Standings Keeper, Miss Jansen, has done nothing wrong and did not disclose any information regarding Overlord DeBurgo's challenge.
Let it be known that even if she had, I would not have asked for her resignation, as you requested. It is not my policy to treat all mistakes as grievous ones. Nevertheless, since she has been cleared of all accusations, I consider this matter to be closed.
On a final note, it may not be my place to say such things, but I believe an apology towards Miss Jansen is in order. She has devoted much of her time and energy to her duties, and deserves an apology at the very least. That is, of course, merely my humble opinion.

Was employment offered to Drakewyn or Karen? How interesting that someone can be hired to take on certain responsibilities and then hand them over to someone else.

Either Drakewyn is doing the job she was hired to do, or she is not. Would she hand over her baronial duties to Karen, as well?

Morgan~~~~

It is my understanding that Karen is merely filling in for Drake while she is on leave of absence. It is not terribly uncommon for someone that is temporarily unable to full his or her obligations to make arrangements for someone else to do them. Personally, I think that Drake should be commended for taking the time to locate someone that is willing to take on the responsibilities of being an RDI while she is away, rather than vilified over it.
She was not required to do this... She was motivated by her sense of responsibility and duty. It would seem to me that a *thank you* is more in order for her actions, rather than what I've been reading here......
