Khrys,
She goes on vacation, challenges for a ring, then leaves again? It's one thing to challenge before or after a vacation, but I take offense to one who abandons a vacation just to take someone's ring then run off again.
I can't help but laugh at the irony. Once I was appalled by Troyan's tossing up the ring when he won it from Huma, but now I am applauding it. Seems to be far more honorable than high tailing it when you take a title from someone else; a title that means nothing to you.
Disgusted,

>>Seems to be far more honorable than high tailing it when you take a title from someone else; a title that means nothing to you.<<

You know just what the title means to Drake or doesn't, Var? I'm impressed. I figured if I wanted to know exactly what it meant to her, I'd have to ask her. I should have known I should I could just come and ask you. You, Morgan, and Jona going to go into partnership and start the Acme Judgement Company?
All sarcasm aside, however, some of these routines are starting to get old. The people who have placed the posts accusing Karen or Drake here, are people with personal grudges against Drake, or people close to them. Interesting coincedence that? Sorry, I was going to put the sarcasm aside. Quite frankly, it seems far more honorable to address those personal problems some other way then to continue to attempt to throw baseless accusations her way and
Karen's every chance someone gets.
Drake is one of our better and more hard working RDIs. Karen is doing a very good job, for someone so inexperienced, at filling in for her. Golden has made his official statement, Marzan has said that he passed on the information Karen supposedly passed on himself. It seems to me that this line of conversation is therefore growing pointless.
Now, I really didn't expect the individual who made the accusation to grant Golden's request that she apologize to Karen. But I certainly didn't expect other people to jump in and attack Drake after the matter was settled. I probably should have though. This is the DoS after all. We all seem to have far more spleen than sense these days.
Maybe we should all work on that instead of venting it?

Ironic. You tell others to ask instead of making pointless accusations, but then turn around and start making rhetorical questions to accuse?
You consider it holding a grudge? Maybe it is. When someone challenges to take away a title, questioning something clearly pointed out before, saying "... I once considered a friend" then write a private missive after the challenge asking requests as a friend, I do find it unbelievable.
The answer, I feel, was put clear to the paper. If she truly wanted to hold the title bad enough, I am sure she would have found someone beforehand to challenge. It seems convenient she suddenly wants to hold the title now that I left the team. Putting two and two together, along with the fact she challenged "just to get my attention", it's easy to surmise just how important the title is.

Since I've become a warlord, I have wanted the title. Does everyone? No, but Drake's timing of the title meaning that much to her, to want to challenge for it, is too convenient.

>The people who have placed the posts accusing Karen or Drake here, are people
>with personal grudges against Drake, or people close to them.

I could be wrong, but I thought Drake and Morgan agreed on many things in the past, maybe even considered a mutual respect between the two. Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought Morgan's comments were unbiased.

>But I certainly didn't expect other people to jump in and attack Drake after
>the matter was settled.

Two points: First of all, I was addressing input from Khrysta. I'm annoyed that one would break from vacation just to take a ring someone wears then run off again.

Second of all, if Drake can't handle the attacks, then she'll be disillusioned by the title of baroness.
Simply,

Var,

I hesitate to state my agreement with you on this issue, as it may come back to haunt me, but you have it. On the issue of the title and Drake's vacation, I do find it in poor taste to take the ring and then vanish off to "vacation" again. At least Jesse put it back into circulation. Not saying that I agree with what he did but.. And, as to the issue of one Miss Karen Jansen, I have found her work to be very nice. However, I am curious as to
whether or not she was given the rigorous official training and interviewing as the rest of the DoS's fine officials. Were Stormi to decide to take a vacation, and appoint, say, Rix's challenger Tim as a replacement, would anyone question or have a problem with that..?
To summarize for those with poor attention span :
Challenge, win, leave = bad.
Leave, replace, = maybe bad.

Question...

Didn't Ellisa Morgan have Bridgette DiGregorio (whom I send my profoundest apologies to for the utter misspelling of her name) take over officiating duties for her permanently? I don't remember anyone tearing their hair out over that.

This kind of thinking is reason number 486 why I am not currently employed by the duel of swords, nor do intend to be in the near future.

Regardless of any wrong doing, I wonder that someone should be critizised for not serving us all, instead of doing something as despicable as trying to better their own station.

Lucian,

How is Drake's ring 'out of circulation'? You, I, Var himself, anyone who wishes may challenge her at anytime if they have the necessary bon fides and the desire to do so. The fact that she may still be on vacation does not make the ring any less in 'circulation.' If you were to challenge her right now, do you honestly think that you would not be answered? I fail to see the logic of your argument at all. If were are raising the issue of whether or
not she is an absentee Baron, I would say that is a decision that takes more than the short time she has held the ring to reach. By the rules, the ring is still in circulation. Indeed it is *more* exposed to 'circulation' than if it had been forfeited. Anyone who meets the requirements can challenge at any time, as opposed to only having a shot at it in the confines of the Tourney.

Percival, your charges of judging are most humorous. 'Tis much like the pot calling the kettle black. I suggest before you start bandying about your charges you look to correct within yourself those traits you find so heinous in others.

Lucian brings up a good point, was Karen trained to take over these duties? I think we should be able to trust that the person who went through the interview, took the training, and received the responsibilities that go with the job to actually do the job rather than shift the burden of responsibility onto someone else.

If a person is not able to do the job they were hired to do, then they should resign. I will not "thank" someone for not doing their job. If Drakewyn does not wish to be an employee of the Red Dragon Inn or Standings Keeper, then she should quit and allow someone else who does wish to do the job by themselves.

Jona's pointless accusations,
Var's ease on jumping on Jona's bandwagon for the reasons of he doesn't get along with Drake and his wife has him controlled to the point of him listening to anything her friend says.
Morgan also stating something about an official hiring another to do her job when it's happened before in the past by other officials, but only brings it up now simply because it's Drake.
Adonai ranting on and on about the usual things.
Rookie Warlords who have no respect for the entire Duel of Swords, it's history, other Warlords or the Baronies. Whose only reason for challenging is simply because they can.
Arguments which are continued for the simple fact of continuing the argument.

And people wonder why this place has been disgusting me lately. They wonder why I have been around less and less. They wonder why I say it's not much fun anymore.

They tell me to try and make a difference, to try and make the place what it used to be. So I try. I make jokes, I tease people in jest, anyone who knows me know I am less than serious, but still, it doesn't work. Those who are used to my joking take everything seriously. Noone knows how to enjoy life anymore.

So you all know, What I just said are completely what my opinion is. Nothing that is a definite fact. I am oh so sure that I'll be attacked for my words. But you know what? I don't care. I don't have it in me to care anymore.

When Bridgette replaced Ellisa Morgan as an official Caller, Why did noone then run and shout foul like they are now?

When Galin won his Ring from me, and took a leave of absense, why are you not all jumping on his back?

You are quick to assume that the title means Nothing to Drake, and that the fact that she decided to be on vacation from Calling that she is so wrong for doing so. Yet you are Oh So quiet about others doing the same thing.

Perhaps this should be called the DoH, Duel of Hypocrites. So many are accused of it anyway. Or maybe the DoW, Duel of Whiners. So many of us are anyway. Or DoN, Duel of Nitpickers, since so many wish to find something wrong with every little thing that happens.

When I take a drink, will I be yelled at for holding my glass wrong?

In addition to Bridgette replacing Ellisa, there was an even more recent replacement of an official DoS employee that no one said a word against. Daemon Satyriasis, who was once known as RDI Daemon, passed away last year.... His Grandfather Haewar's Avatar filled his calling spot for him.... It should be needless to say in this example that the Avatar didn't have the same training as Daemon, but I'll
say it anyway. But you know what.... ???? There were no arguments over whether he should be allowed to stay.... there were no calls for investigation into his behavior.... there was no general all-purpose generic uproar over it. It would seem that what we're seeing now has more to do with personal vendetas against Drake, and therefore by extension Karen, than it does with any concern for DoS.... The irony of it is that after the asked for
investigation has been shown Jona to be in err about her accusation in the first place, they ~still~ just keep jumping on the band wagon.....

I'd find that disgusting if I weren't laughing so hard......

G,
You're calling others a whiner? You should be nominated Overlord for DoH and DoW.

> Var's ease on jumping on Jona's bandwagon for the reasons of he doesn't get along with Drake and his wife has him controlled to the point of him listening to anything her friend says.<
I'm laughing here, for I find this as logical and admirable as Drake challenging while on vacation then piddling off again after taking the ring. In my opinion, you sound quite desperate to take a weak pot shot at me because I insulted Drake, and because I left your house. Ah well, doesn't matter.
Keep going, G. I didn't think you had it in you.
Thoroughly amused,

Your local neighborhood Hunter, reporting back to the absolutally idiotic boards...I atleast expected it to be a little better...but no...in fact, it's worse. I've found a very good example in this line of posts. More of the same crap is all I see each time I look at this damn thing. Can't we all just get along. Dueling is a sport, not a polital arguement that a few select people have seemed to be working towards.
I'm sick of all this complaining and whining. Every time I see this thing, however, it's the same. Never just simple, decent posts. Always some controversy over an idiotic reason. Take this line of posts for example. A couple of fools get together and start blaming somebody for something, and they don't get heard out, so they go into other, more idiotic, arguements and it just keeps going...nobody can just DROP IT!
Il'l probably get eaten alive because of what I say, and Il'l fight back, we'll all keep fighting and fighting for no reason and it needs to stop. Now if this kind of stuff doesn't stop or get stopped, I will take measures to stop it.

Khrysta,
Jona's investigation is centered around whether or not Karen disclosed information about Eros' challenge to Dal.
I don't believe I read anything from Jona saying Karen should resign as standings keeper because Drake was originally hired for it.
