Collie,
I'm almost believing as if your irony is intentional.

To begin with, you have missed my point. I said
" If the vacation was so important for raising the child, I would have taken the vacation first, Collie. I wouldn't have waited until I "got what I wanted"."
Yet you keep speaking of her giving birth. I'm not talking about before the child is born. I'm having an issue with her having priorities of taking a ring over raising the child after it is born.
The second point of irony lies in you telling me not to make assumptions, then you turn around to say I would call Drake an oathbreaker if she didn't challenge. Maybe I would have, but it's Drake's fault for setting herself up.
Then you blame me and others that she challenged with haste? That's a pretty poor way to avoid responsibility. Nobody held a dagger to her throat, telling her to challenge. She challenged on her own, and by her own will. Nobody else "forced her".
The last point of irony is the fact you say I can't have my cake and eat it too. It seems suitable Drake can challenge for a ring, but then wander off with a vacation when it is more suitable to take care of a child's growth before seeking a ring? Or are parental concerns AFTER they get what they want?

Members of the Community~

Points of fact:

Golden investigated the matter.

Karen Jansen did *not* tell Karen Wilder about the Challenge match. Marzan did.

Golden has found that neither Karen *nor* Drakewyn did anything wrong.

Nobody had a fit when Bridgette or the Avatar became officials, and yet, there is a daily argument over Karen, for no other aparant reason than that she supposedly lacks training. And yet, she has the same training that both Bridgette and the Avatar had when they took their posts.

Var,

Please do yourself and others a favor and just let it go. Hunter is making more sense than you are right now.
And Ally made more sense than all of you combined. So for the love of the gods. Please stop kicking the horse. Its dead man.

Now we see everyone's true colors, no?

Var actually does have opinions not rooted from his wife. He does, by appearances, believe insults are a good way to vent one's anger to another individual.

G'nort isn't the strong leader we all thought him to be. He has lost his faith and is now looking to us for pity. Well, your "I don't care" lines won't get crap from me.

Jake Heart does think! Although his words were a bit offensive I am sure, he summed everything up regarding Drake just fine.

Khrys appears to have contradicted herself. Jumping on G'nort and Drakewyn's bandwagon... yet claiming that those who believe Jona to be in the right to be bandwagoneers themselves.

Drakewyn either really cares about this sport enough to leave her newborn with whomever long enough to challenge Var or she secretly trained until challenge day. Awaiting a moment for revenge or what have you.

Collie believes giving birth is extremely hard, however, doesn't give in to the fact that one could duel an intense match for a good hour a few days afterwards.

Jona's attempt at proving Karen's worth as a official has failed and now it is left to the boards to ponder.

We have also learned that Ally does indeed read the boards!

Some people believe a Baron's duties only extend to answering the occasional missive.

Things to ponder:

What will become of House Dragoon-Talandor now that their leader has given up?

Will we now set rules for whom is allowed to officiate in these rings?

Will this post result in more insults or will it result in well-thought opinions?

I have to just point out an error here. Khrys made her first post before G did, not after. She wasn't jumping on anyone's bandwagon, she was pointing out what Golden had officially ruled to those continuing their attacks after the ruling was announced rather publicly.
Just correcting the facts. As for this being G and Drake's bandwagon, Drake hasn't said much at all. She made one post in reply to Jona, and left it to Golden. G only made his comments after several others did. So it isn't his bandwagon either.
Again, just correcting the facts.

My pardons to Khrys then... all of this talk that people where jumping on a bandwagon merely because they shared the same opinion on the matter is just silly to me and should have been reflected better in my original missive.

Var,

Simple points:

Karen Jansen the original subject of this topic is innocent of wrong doing.

Second point, no one complained about Ellisa or Daemon's replacement, only Drakewyn's.

You never addressed either of those, so we must be in agreement on them.

How ever instead of admitting the fact that you are licking your wounds over defeat when I said quit bitching, get the peer wins and try to regain the ring, you chose to attack Drake's personal life and choices. Pardon me, I get offended when people attack my friends.

Further thoughts to ponder:

Will Roland ever be allowed to join the Ally fan club (of which Adonai is now president, of course) after that little comment of his?

Four out of five Ally fans picked at random say no.

Jake,

How often do you come to Rhydin town? Once a day to read the cork? A few times a week?

Unless you literally live in the arena then you travel there too, so where's the logic in you asking why Drake or anyone else come to town?

Well, Seeing how this whole topic has spun way off into something totaly not what it was intended to do I'll say this.

Wah Wah Wah

That about sums this up.

Nothing but whinning.

If no one is going to bitch and moan about prior officials taking leaves and being replaced why should they bitch now?

Why? Because it's a quick and easy way to take a cheap shot at someone you don't like. Golden settled the matter drop it.

I'm surprised this topic has gone on as long as it has. Does no one have anything better to do with thier time?

Quite amazing.

A situation that had little at all to do with myself has become centered on me. I will attempt to answer as many of the points as I can recall.
1) My Leave of Absence. I arranged with Golden to take a leave of absence from my calling duties and duties as back-up Standing's Keeper for Bridgette because I was concerned about my unborn daughter. My own magickal skills had determined that an excessive amount of stress might harm her before she was born. After she was born, once she was healthy enough I knew I would be able to leave her with Jhessail for an extending period of time, I
issued my challenge to Var. I believe a week and a half passed before the match took place.
After the match, I had another discussion with Golden concerning how well Ms. Jansen was handling the duties, as she had taken over the Standing's Keeper position. I knew that such a job would require much of my time which both my daughter and I would otherwise benefit from.
Two days after my challenge match with Var, I came to the Arena and offered to duel... engaging in one duel that night. Since that time, other than to witness Marzan's challenge to Dalamar, I have not come to the Arena due to the health of my daughter.
In closing, my Leave of Absence is only from my duties as a member of the Duel of Swords staff, not from dueling.
Upon perusing the Standings, it seems Baron AJay has been "gone" from the Arena much longer than I, and three of the other Barons haven't dueled in official duels for almost a month... and yet, I am called an absentee Baron.
Patently ridiculous
2) My challenge to Var, including the Letter of Intent. Anyone who knows me, knows that if I say I am going to do something, I will. Var knows why I challenged, and that should be enough. If you cannot live your life without knowing, drop me a line.
3) How I feel about the Tenth ring. It is the Tenth Baron's ring of the Duel of Swords. I wear it, but it is not mine. I did not challenge Var for the sole purpose of wearing this ring, and I was fully aware that he would press challenge against me if I won it from him. I will wear the ring with honor and dignity, as I believe a Baron should. I have only ever considered challenging twice before, the second time of which I was unable to
press my challenge because the target of said challenge lost his ring before my personal codes of honor and conduct would allow me to press a formal challenge.
If anyone wishes to know what these codes of honor and conduct are... again, drop me a line.
4) My answering notes, posts and other such during my Leave of Absence. Quite simply, I have a half-brother who watches over myself and my daughters. During my Leave, he would travel to the Arena and make copies of any posts that he thought I might take an interest it... he also would travel to the Golden Ivy to gather any mail sent to me, as that is the address the RhyDin postmaster has for me. When I would write a reply, he would deliver it
back.
5) My hiring of Karen Jansen. I had hired Ms. Jansen some two months before the date I would begin my leave of absence. During this time, I saw to it that she was trained as well as possible given the amount of literature available in the history, traditions and daily operations of the Duel of Swords. The young woman seems to have a quick mind with an excellent eye for details, which made her quite good at tracking the Standings.
According to the information I have received, she has made one error in computing the duelist's standings that cannot be traced to a late report from a caller in the entire time she has been handling the Standings... and even that error was not one that affected their ranking, merely their reported WoL.
I am also told by a few duelers, that her calling skills seem to be more than satisfactory, and that she has worked many nights that she was not assigned to.
I was also told that she has become a bit snappish of late, but given the amount of stress she has been under do to this false accusation, I feel that is understandable.
5) The Accusation, the supposed real point of this line of statements.
After a conversation with Ms. Jansen, she told me that Madame Starfare accused her in person of telling Ms. Wilder of Marzan's challenge. In her own defense, possibly to prevent such an accusation from reaching the point it did, Ms. Jansen told Madame Starfare that Lord Eros had been the one who talked to Ms. Wilder about the challenge, not herself... and at that point, Ms. Jansen felt the matter was closed... and rightfully so, I feel.
I have been unable to locate Ms. Wilder for a personal interview.

In closing, if anyone wishes to discuss any of these points, or anything at all really, in a clear, calm and logical manner... Please, write to me. My daughter's health is still not the best, so I perforce must spend much of my time at home... so a personal discussion would be difficult.
