Results of the Challenge for the Thirteenth

Gathered on the Twilight Island this night, a small crowd came to witness a duel for the posession of the thirteenth Baronal Ring of the Duel of Swords.
Baron Magnus dueled this eve for the Honor of his deceased mother, who still watches over him. At his side stood his good friend, Evan Rush Rynth... in his hands, he bore the sword "Dual Blade" and the hatchet "Drachen's Hatchet." His colors were the colors of Polaris, black with a red star in the center.
Challenging the Baron this eve was the Warlord Avery Shiv Blade. He dueled for the honor of none but himself, and stood alone to this challenge. He dueled with a common shortsword and a small dagger, under the colors of red and black.

The duel progressed as follows...

Challenge Ring, Round the First.
The challenger circles wide, wary of the longer blade of the Baron's... A moment's hesitation perhaps, but nothing more as he moves in... Yet the Baron has defended many times and starts off with a well placed strike. ( TH-HC ) Point for the Baron.

Challenge Ring, Round the Second.
Undaunted, the challenger remains close, closing to striking
distance once more... The Baron, willing to do more damage as well, closes... Their blades swing in a blur of steel, crashing in a spray of sparks. ( LC-LC ) No points for either.

Challenge Ring, Round the Third.
The Challenger is still wary, but still keeping the distance close, his shorter blade working better there. The Baron, pressed, pushes forward to gain the room he desires... The Challenger quickly steps aside, avoiding both the strike and moving behind the Baron. ( TH-FSS ) Point for the Challenger.

Challenge Ring, Round the Fourth.
Seeking to press his advantage, the challenger stays close... His longer blade hampered by the close quarters, the Baron brings forth his hatchet. Quickly knocking aside the challenger's attack, twisting the blade away from all to vulnerable flesh. ( FCP-LC ) Point for the Baron.

Challenge Ring, Round the Fifth.
The Challenger, pressing still, closes once more, allowing no distance to remain... The Baron, wiley from many challenges, draws back his blade. And with a quick step back, he swings out... the longer blade connecting where the shorter one fails. ( HC-SL ) Point for the Baron.

Challenge Ring, Round the Sixth.
The Challenger, wounded, steps more warily now... The Baron, wary of the challenger's change of attitude, moves to defend... The Challenger, seeing the downward motion, steps in to capitalize, striking the Baron before he is completely set. ( FDk-LC ) Point for the Challenger.

Challenge Ring, Round the Seventh.
The Challenger is still catious, and moves back again... The Baron, wounded as well, steps forward to press his assault... Seeing some flicker of motion, the Challenger brings his blade around... Knocking aside the Baron's attack, to keep from suffering from
another wound. ( LC-FCP ) Point for the Challenger.

Challenge Ring, Round the Eighth.
The Challenger keeps his distance, his short blade held ready... The Baron, wary as well, does not press... Then, in a split second, the Challenger makes his move... The Baron, cautious of a strike, moves to defend himself... Yet the Challenger has quickly ducked and rolled past the seemingly motionless Baron. Rising up behind him in excellent position. ( FLP-FDk ) Point for the Challenger.

Challenge Ring, Round the Ninth.
After scoring three straight points, the Challenger's confidence is high... Yet the Baron has defended the thirteenth ring several times, and is hardly lacking in confidence himself. The pair move in, blades flashing in the torchlight, and crashing together once more. ( HC-HC ) No points for either.

Challenge Ring, Round the Tenth.
The Challenger has lost his sword, and backs away to draw his dagger... Not wishing to allow the Challenger close enough, the Baron moves away... The Challenger's wary defence as meaningless this round as the Baron's maneuvering. ( FSS-SH ) No points for either.

Challenge Ring, Round the Eleventh.
Increasing his pace, the Challenger begins to circle, looking for an opening. The Baron, seeing a clear advantage in his longer blade, moves forward. The Challenger quickly moves to avoid the attack... yet the Baron's blade is too swift. ( LC-FSS ) Point for the Baron.

Challenge Ring, Round the Twelfth.
The Challenger is worried now, his confidence fled with his sword... The Baron, sensing victory, strides forward to close the distance and seal the match. The Challenger, drops low, seeking to avoid injury... But alas, not low enough... ( Th-Dk ) Point and win for the Baron.

And thus did the Baron Magnus Eques retain his hold upon the Thirteenth ring of the Duel of Swords by defeating the Challenger Avery Shiv Blade by a score of Five to Four in Twelve rounds.
