As most would expect

As mailed to the appropriate parties.

---------------------------------------

To the respective parties,
This missive is to inform I am exercising my right to challenge for the Tenth ring of the Duel of Swords.
I have a few reasons, and would like to outline them.

a) I do not believe the title means anything to the current holder, for she challenged merely to get an answer I believe I clarified in a previous letter.

b) I have held the ring twice before, and have enjoyed wearing it. I would like to wear it the third time. I also recognize and appreciate notion of being the second in DoS history to hold the same ring three times.

c) I said, following the challenge where I lost the ring, that I planned on challenging for it again.

While I will never consider it to be "my ring", I simply wish to wear the ring again, and with Drake holding said ring, I have no hesitation in challenging for it.
Should I lose, I will gather my peer wins to challenge for next cycle.

Simply,
Var Medici-Giovanni

How long does it take to draw all those lines by your name, Var?

Gosh, Var. I guess some people need to lose a lot of times before they realize how bad they are.

Well, Skyler, if I let how badly I dueled influence things I did, I never would have set foot in the rings two years ago.
But I'm still here, aren't I?

Well, Lord Medici-Giovanni.

With the wording of this particular notice of challenge, you have set the final nail to what was once our friendship.
In the end, though I was loath to admit it, I challenged you because I felt you betrayed that friendship... and though I tried several times to salvage it, it is obvious now that what I saw as friendship between us was of the "fair weather" variety... only so long as it was convenient for you.
I had hoped that my challenge would have served as a wake-up call to you, so you would realize how much your betrayal had hurt me... and so that, after an honorable duel, we could attempt to rebuild our friendship. I even told you that I welcomed the thought of you challenging me, for after the duel I had no more arguement with you.
Believe me when I say wearing the Tenth Ring means something to me... and believe me when I say you will have no easy task in wresting it from me.
Though I am personally satisfied with your list of peers, I will wait until the list has been verified before discussing arrangements for the match.

I do hope you are well and truely satisfied with the results thus far.

For informational purposes:

-------------------

I was debating whether I should remove Eric from my list, or to mention in the challenge letter that while he is an invalid peer win, he was there for the sake of completeness.
But when I wrote the letter, I forgot to do either. I apologize for any confusion that may have caused.
For clarity's sake, the duel against Eric Siadek was fought on January 31, as noted, but according to the standings keeper, she never recieved information regarding said duel.

To those interested.

Forgive me my delay in writing this... my newborn daughter takes up much of my time lately, and now that her health is no longer an issue, other matters weigh upon my mind.
I have taken up the task of rescuing Darrian Redwin, following information given to me by Lord Ian MacKenzie.
I will be leaving in two days with a small group, and expect to secure his freedom within a week.
I leave the Tenth Ring with my friend, Goldendust Evermeadow. In the unlikely event that I do not return from this mission, it is my request that the council not call upon a champion to duel in my stead, but grant the ring to Lord Medici-Giovanni.
To this end, I ask that the date of the duel be set for Tuesday, March 2nd, at Nine by the Eastern clock. For a caller, I ask Lord Goldendust Evermeadow... if he is available.
If the challenger wishes a different caller, then so be it.
Also, as it is my delay, I am fully aware that should I win this duel I will be open to challenge once the Standings are posted the following day.
I thank you for your time.

Madame Silvertree

If thee aire off to see to a rescue, it might just behoove thee to at least know the correct name of he thee seek to succor. I shall presume thee mean to attempt to rescue Darian Pridden Redwin.

I notice also thine "gracious" instructions to the Council. Perhaps the warlord might have something to say about it, or hae thee nae taken that into consideration? The ast well seem certain thee shall accomplish the rescue, for I notice the comment, "In the unlikely event..." It must be indeed wondrous to know thee shall succeed, e'en before the begin.

An error in spelling? Really. Now it's obvious that you're just looking for any little detail to pick on Drake about.

I m sory i kinot spel rite.

Maybe I breathe wrong? Or I have a misplaced hair. Or an eye is slightly higher than the other. What's next to pick on?

To the respected parties,
While I read the acceptance earlier today, I admit to only having the time to respond now. I'd like to state, however, that I have given this careful thought and a conclusion was almost immediately reached with said consideration.
I do not accept certain terms presented by the baroness. For one thing, if I do happen to be the second in DoS history to wear the same ring three times, I do not think I should bear the honor if it was a ring I did not duel for. It would be like me being the first to get a thousand wins over losses and I didn't duel anyone.
Thus, if Drake does not show up to the scheduled challenge, I request that it either be moved to a later date, optimally, or someone duel for her. While it is not my decision on this matter, I am only stating what I prefer being done to handle the situation.
That note said, I am now posing a question. I challenged Drake this cycle, and the challenge itself (presumably) will be fought the next. If I lose, am I entitled to challenging the following cycle, or must I wait a whole three months? Enlightenment would be appreciated as soon as possible.
Now for the details. My Lady of Honor shall be my dear wife, my Lady Noelle Medici-Giovanni. My second shall be my first son, whom I love dearly, Noble Morgan Medici-Giovanni. I shall be dueling under the colors of the Medici-Giovanni family, metallic silver blades clashing over the ocean blue. The blade I shall be wielding will be my rapier "Fallen Crew" to honor many of my friends whom have passed to the next life.

Var

Well stated, and thine question, well posed indeed.

Jona

G, old man

Tis nae the first time Madame Silvertree seemed nae to be cognizant of the name of the man she now seeks to attempt to rescue. One would hope if one attempts a rescue, one would at least be able to recognize he whom one ist attempting to succor. Tis only common sense.

Jona

Ian,

Mine prayers aire offered for the safety and well being of Darian.

Lady Jonalyn.

You write, "I notice also thine "gracious" instructions to the Council. Perhaps the warlord might have something to say about it, or hae thee nae taken that into consideration?"
Perhaps you need instruction in the Rules of Engagement, as well as lessons in reading words rather than reading what you wish to see into those words.
I did not give instructions to the Council, merely a request. As for the Warlord having something to say about it... that is for the Council to decide, as it clearly states in the Rules of Engagement.
After reading the reply from the Warlord Medici-Giovanni, I withdraw my recomendation in favor of his own.

I have nothing more to say to someone who gives insult where none is given.

Var, by my knowledge you will be able to challenge next cycle as well, as you issued challenge in the last. Meaning, theoretically, you could rack up ten peer wins between now and the date the challenge is fought, and then if you lose the challenge, challenge immediately again as soon as the standings are posted.

Madame Silvertree,

Perhaps thee aire unaware that in past, the warlord who hast presented challenge unto a Baron hast informed the Council of his thoughts and preferences should the Baron nae appear. Tis nae anna secret, Madame, though tis plain thee certes hae yet much to learn.
