To those that would come at me now,

So I have been told now it is official. The Amethyst Ring will come at me in attempt to wretch the 11th Baron's ring from my grasp. Why?

Because I stood up and interceeded on behalf of Huma. Now let's clarify something right now. I stepped in only to see that the match went forward without intercession. Now, before you all start calling my a hypocrite, Yes I did indeed have Dalamar step in for me on my first defense. I would have had him step in on my second as well.

I will not defend my actions further then this post. I will say that I was hoping for Morgan to win. I am sorry she did not and I offer my sincerest appologies for what my actions have begun. If the Amethyst Ring comes after the ring I wear...I hope they only send the best. I hope it is not one man as a puppet master sending wave after wave of people to challenge. If the Ring comes for me...I do so hope they send thier best.

Gim,

I would expect them to chase me down first, seeing as nobody likes me anyway. If they do come after you, best of luck.

Gimmzak Stonecutter,

Thou art a Neutral Baron, and though tis within thine "right" to intercede, thee doubtless hae given little thought that thine blade didst support one who hast nae only shown a blatant whining attitude but who hae also sorely insulted the Lady of Avalon, Morgan le Fay du Cornwall, a lady, I might add that certes dinna deserve the bile and vitriol spewed upon her by the Oathbreaker.

Thee did indeed permit the former Overlord, Dalamar ArD'aumon to intercede in thine behalf, against one who stands much ast the Oathbreaker. Do thee truly think for one moment, that Huma Dragonbane wast worthy to challenge and shouldna hae faced the blade of thine Overlord? Do thee truly believe that the Oathbreaker shall honor what he calls "his ring"?

If thee aire so blind ast to nae look at the personage what be challenging, thee hae a long way to go, dwarf. Open thine eyes, dwarf, thee hae slighted and insulted the Lady of Avalon, one who hae nae offered thee anna insult an' wore the fourth ring with honor, one thou hast stated thee didst hope to hae won that duel.

Thou art indeed a hypocrite, dwarf. Thine Overlord chose to intercede, and by thine stance in lifting blade against him, thee hae acted nae ast a Neutral but ast a Renegade. Perhaps thee shouldst consider a change of thine alignment and join with he thou didst champion, for Huma hast declared his renegade stance unto the Overlord.

May the Amethyst Ring indeed wrench from thee the Eleventh Ring.

Short note from me,

If Gim hadn't stepped in I would have. I don't care if its Huma or anyone else, long have I believed barons should defend deir own ring, and I have not (since my 3rd defense) ever asked or allowed an Overlord ta step in on my behalf. I can preach all I want, but I figure its time ta actually do somethin' now dat I am indeed a Renegade.

Ta all da warlords wantin' ta challenge but fearin' intercession, drop me a missive and I'll back ya against Marzan. Glad Gim stepped up, g'luck against da Amethyst Ring.

Well, Gimm, I am against barons choosing to have someone intercede for them on their first defense. That's one reason I interceded against Morgan when Cletus challenged (Not to mention I consider Cletus a dear friend and wanted to duel for him).
If you did have Dal intercede for you during the second challenge, I would have been ready to take part against that intercession if no other renegade baron did.
Either way, I don't want the Amethyst ring challenging you. I would prefer one of my friends bearing the ring instead of you. If one of my friends is in the Amethyst ring, and I don't know about it, then I hope they challenge for the sake of the title, and not for the group they are affiliated with.

I feel the same way as Jeff, barons should defend themselves. Even if people don't like the challenger.

I asked Marzan to intercede because Huma bullied his challenge to me illegally.

>illegally.

Wasn't illegal, Percy challenged you in December, but the rules allowed you to avoid challenge in January cause there is a loop hole. If one thinks about it, actually, you had not faced challenge in January, but only defended then due to time restraints. this is what Golden shall clarify soon, but by order of the DoS Coordinator, my challenge was in fact valid, legal, what ever.

Now, As I have spoken privatly to Morgan on this I won't comment on my actions further. Save one.

Jona,
Indeed you can now begin to spout forth your venom once again towards me. Call me hypocrite, call me all the names you wish. I have found that the best way to ignore someone who has nothing better to do then spew venomus words is to ignore that person.

I know what I have done, I know the repercussions. I can bet dollars to donughts that not a single one of you would have gone after anyone else for interceeding the way I did.

As I have stated, I hope the pupett master sends only the best after me.

Stonecutter:

I would have thought you understood this clearly. For the public's benefit, however, I will explain in painful detail why I consider your ring forfeit.

1) I have, in the past, championed the issue that Barons should not be tested when challenging the Overlord. That stance, which I took in the days when a tested Baron had no choice but to fight a champion in order to face the Overlord, is now less of an issue; any worthy Renegade Baron should be able to find someone to act as their champion in turn. Therefore, at this point, I only object to use of the test against a Baron when said Baron is a
respected figure who issues challenge in a respectful manner. Oafs will no longer find my grudging support, as they have in the past, simply because they are Barons being tested.

What has this to do with you? Only a peripheral understanding; I have never once questioned the Overlord's right to test a Warlord he finds unworthy.

2) You are aware of the stated purpose behind the Amethyst Ring. Are you the least bit surprised that acting in the defense of someone I would sooner see swinging from a tree in order to assist them in securing a ring would cause my wrath to fall upon you?

How hypocritical can you get, dwarf? Stepping in to ensure that a completely unacceptable candidate for the Baronial ranks has an easier shot at gaining a ring, then helplessly hoping that the Baroness would defend the title. Pathetic.

That is what this is about, Baron. You held the door open and invited a sociopath to join your ranks, while all the while saying you didn't want him to win. If you are not part of the solution, Stonecutter, you are part of the problem.

I hardly expect to have to send "wave after wave" of challengers after you, either. You, sir, are no Ar'Daumon... for that matter, you're not even a Ballentyne. Save self-flattery for those who actually have cause for it.

Jeffrey:

I will simply state that I am disappointed. You have, in your storied career, run afoul of me, it is true; but while I objected to your actions, I respected your dedication to men you felt worth your defense.

Though - for the sake of the community - I hope it never comes to this, I would ask you to consider your feelings should you be challenged by an utterly unacceptable candidate, and have a bad night in the ring. Would you then look back and think to yourself, "That oaf is a Baron now, and I could have prevented it by making the road harder?"

This is not about cowardice. This is about preserving the dignity of the titled ranks of this community. If we - as the community - leave everything up to two duelers when one of them is clearly unfit, we risk allowing that unfit dueler to gain, or retain, something which they, quite frankly, tarnish with each passing day.

I remember a time when you understood this, Jeffrey Oakenshield. It saddens me to see that you have now become blinded to it.

Ian,
You're writings are pretty amusing to read...didja know dat? Somehow you think your past reputation can carry on this little excuse for an answer to everyones problems. Get a clue! This is a sport.....FUN! Get the rod out of your arse and lighten up. Since when do you have the power to tell people weather they have the right to have some fun and hold a barony? This isn't freakin life or death now. I always love it when someone takes the flame for a
new moral crusade but this one takes the cake. In conclusion for those of simple minds (nothin wrong with that) and need a summary.....Ian - settle down, Sport - fun, Barony - fun, lets all have some - fun.

Ian,

Faith in my skill and faith in my blade are all I'll ever need ta hold me head high and know I held me ring as best I could. I am very active in da politics of DoS, so I believe I do my station justice. I am also an active dueler within our rings, so I believe I have not let DoS down. I shall remain firm in my beliefs and continue my reign as I always have, however, now I am able ta impose my values on others given my station and its privileges.
About time I took advantage of my rights, otherwise I'm just takin' up space.

First off Iain who in the nine hells do you think you are to tell me the ring I wear is forfeit. I see that you have appointed yourself savior of DoS. Maybe it is time you put your delusions of grandeur to rest.

I know that my words here will spark off more then maybe I can bite off so let me make a few things clear to you.

First...I have never once compared myself to Dalamar or any other dueler in this sport. I would never do such a thing.

Second..Your wrath has fallen against me? Why not pick up a blade and challenge me yourself. It is obvious you didn't get the meaning behind my post. If your so determined to rid me of the 11th Ring...do it yourself Iain instead of sending someone after me.

It is not your place to say who does and who does not wear a ring. I respect and honor the history of DoS..I am now part of that history, I was the moment I won this ring in the Warlord's Tourney.

Just because you have been here, and are an accomplished dueler with history here, does not make you the keeper of the Duel of Swords. New faces come and go, some remembered with pride, some with shame. Say what you will about me human, but know this..I did what I thought was right. Not you, nor anyone else here can take that away from me.

Your words are kind for those you like, but for those you dislike you shall sick your Amethyst Ring upon.

If you think I am so undeserving Iain, come and take the ring from my finger yourself. I publicly challenge you to do it.
