I am pleased that most have taken my opinion as it was set and not thrown it off into the sea of *what if* and *I think you..* that people often do here.

In response to Lord Oakenshield, I believe as well that actions set more in the mind than record of course. I also feel that record should reflect at least the ability to match any of Warlord rank. I am far from the belief that a high or level ranking has anything to do with skill or honor. But I believe that Barons maintaining low records do little but set an example for rash warlords to challenge them by, thusly replacing a good baron that
might be in a slump, with possibly an unready candidate....that challenged on the mere fact that their record was more stable. Nothing wrong with that as a challenge basis....but I believe you will understand the concern for it.

As I stated it was just a mild concern....the Barons in question I hold in moderate to high regard and I do not belittle them at all. I merely had concern for the possible reprecussions of the situation. Mayhaps the concern is not my baliwick....but I chose to make it so. My apologies if anyone was offended by it.

I am,

I don't mean to insinuate that your posting is definitely 100% political, but I have noticed that you asked renegades in particular to retire.-Quizxs Xysar Zzaasdp

It has recently come to my attention that several of my compatriots within the ranks of titled renegade nobility are below the requirements of a Warlord within our realm.-Adonai Uziel

I've provided handy color coding for the barons whose rank Adonai is referring to in his comment.

BARONS(LOYAL) (5 FANCIES)
Cas Maxim 39: 10: 1: 3/8/99
OorTael5 31: 0: 1: 3/8/99
QuickVarMG 48: 6: 1: 3/8/99
WaIkrBoh 31: 0: 0: 1/18/99

BARONS(NEUTRAL) (5 FANCIES)
XxLucianxX 23: 1: 0: 3/8/99

BARONS(RENEGADE) (5 FANCIES)
Gimmzak 17: 0: 0: 2/1/99
HumaDragbn 29: 0: 0: 2/22/99
J Oaknshld 437: 1: 1: 3/8/99
Lord Uziel 24: 1: 0: 3/8/99
Maxim128 11: 1: 0: 3/8/99
Rix Favre 69: 0: 0: 3/1/99
SilentCris 14: 1: 0: 3/8/99
XJaycyndaX 15: 1: 0: 3/8/99

To tell the truth, I really don't see any political motivations behind Adonai's comment.
Just the facts.

You're probably right. I just thought that it *might* have been more than a coincidence.

In my humble opinion, I would personally prefer seeing all barons with a 15+ WoL ratio.
This is not meant to sound like a voiced concern. It is what I would rather see, period. I would also rather see myself winning every duel from this point on.
Just because I would rather see 15+ Wins over Losses in every baron doesn't mean that I question the skill of those who don't, nor does it mean I question the worthiness. As others have said, their honor speaks louder than their success.

::reads all of the posts and tacks up a short, but to the point note::

To all it concerns,

I am well aware of my record, and no, I am not pleased with it. I fell into a slump, and unfortunately, have not really had much time to bring it back up. As soon as I do find this time, my record increase.

In regards to For Prefect,

When his record had slumped, and as Ian so pointed out, he was concerned about it. So concerned about it he came to me for dueling advice. Though Ford probably had not much like for me, at the time I was regarded as one of the better duelers around during the peak of my dueling career then. So Ford was so concerned about his record and his standing and image as a Baron he was willing to learn from one who was skilled, but not much liked for
anything else.

In regards to Ajay,

He simply just stopped dueling as much and never got much above 20 WoLs in his career I think and never cared to. I don't think I ever say Ajay go below 15 WoLs, but never much more. And did it matter as to his place in history of these hallowed halls? Does it matter for Ford's place in history of these hallowed halls?

No.

In regards to Jeffery,

Sure he has 450+ WoLs, and has been Baron a bazillion times, and defended his titles and championed his Overlords another bazillion times. He will probably be known more for his statistical achievements then his character of person, simply because his stats stick out as some of the best ever in the history of the sport. Perhaps his stats will over shadow the person who the dwarf really is, though they shouldn't. Does it matter for Jeffery's
place in the history of these hallowed halls?

Again, No.

The beauty of the history of this sport is the diverse history in which we have all shared in it from the titled ranks to the longest running to the newest commoners. Baphelocutis probably still has the record for worse record in a cycle by having something like 116-43-7 record, over 70 Losses over Wins, and now he's been Baron and holds a record almost at 50 WoLs. He will probably never be known for his dueling, but rather the effects he has had
outside the ring with his House Lathadoscia regardless of what he will ever do in dueling.

Tass is another example of being known as the Emperor of Commoners though he is now among the top ten of the Warlord Ranks. Tass will probably never shake that self appointed title, even if he ever became Overlord. Or someone like Sidartha who has been here forever and I don't think ever made Warlord though she trys. She's as much apart of history because of her involvements here though she has never held title. I could go on and on and try to
mention everyone I ever knew in DoS and how their place measures up in history. But my posts and this one are alway and already getting too long.

To the point of Adonai's orginal post. YES. Yes, I agree that someone who desires to hold title should at the minimum strive to maintain an acceptable record by typcial standards of the highest achievable rank by WoLs which is the qualifying rank to challenge for a titled rank. No, I don't think it is the end all of what defines that person as a title holder, but skill with the blade is one of the factors that does in the overall picture.

A point I have always told my students in regards to WoLs and titled ranks is simply the following. Do not challenge until you have spent a atleast a full cycle's time as a Warlord, never slipping below the 15 WoL mark. Meaning you prove you can earn it and keep it. And beyond that I usually tell them to try not to challenge until you have atleast 25 to 30 WoLs to avoid such issues as this one. So that way people can look at you for you the
person and your personality of character without nitpicking about your record. And if you think about it, it takes 15 WoL to become Warlord, and it takes 10 Peer Wins to challenge for Baron, so in my opinion that means you should have atleast a 25 WoLs record. I always thought one should have atleast 10 WoLs of Peer Wins in order to challenge, and that is what I try to impart to my students.

Again this is just my opinion and I am not saying anyone else is wrong, just that this is what I try to teach to those who wish to learn from me.

Ecore,

Ya right, his stats be ta best. But they never touch ta man - for that man be far more important than any number could ever tell. There be none that look at those cold numbers, and see a name that ever touch those that hold him dear.

Summer and Jeff,

E will forgive me if I misinterpret him here, but it seems to me your taking offense where none is meant.

It doesn't seem as though E meant to imply that Jeff is less than the soul of honor, in fact, quite the opposite, his point being that it may be a shame that such a great man may be remembered solely for statistical reasons.

Thank you Alyxz,

You pretty much summed up the response I was going ti give.

Jeffery,

I was complimenting you. If you can't see that, then I am sorry. I was just making nuetral analogies without trying to insult anyone. If you feel insulted, then sorry.

Was it really neccessary to blast me like thatto make yourself feel better? Whatever. It's not even worth my time anymore to go back and forth on this.

Maybe your stats are all your worth after that post from the Senior Baron of DoS.

Elijah,

You've never complimented me in yer life. I'm not fooled. Alyxz may interpret what he will, but don't believe ye can gain any respect by pretendin' ya gave it out. I don't respect ya, I don't like ya, I never will. Insultin' ya doesn't make me feel better, but if it makes ya feel worse my job was successful.

Laters, jerk.
