Aerenth,

I have no problem with people wishing to open a school, but the way Tim's letter was toned that I and other received was that he and the other gentleman involved would be the only teachers in town.

I objected to him stuffing several copies of his message in my letterbox and then I received his mail from other people. Don't tell me that I don't have a right to be annoyed at the rude behavior. Tim needs to attend a school that teaches manners then perhaps people would not be so upset over this.

I'm not a newcomer to this sport. I duel for fun and don't worry about ranks. I have bested some of the highest ranking duelists in DoS and lost to some of the lowest. If I want a teacher, I'll talk to G'nort, Baphe, or Jeff, someone who I respect as both a duelist and as themselves.

There you have my two coppers.

::chuckles:: "how did I get dragged into this" indeed... ::writes::

Now, truly good people. Did Tim say that he was going to teach etiquette? Nay. Only the basics of the sport. He's a warlord, therefore its safe to say that he knows the basic mechanics (leaving out ethos if you want) of the sport of swords. So, what folly is there in him spreading on the exquisitly simple knowledge of how to begin dueling to those who are totally ignorant to the sport?

Furthermore, and I know I will be attacked for this, but keep in mind that I usually dont approach issues like this in public, but I have found, in my personal dealings with Tim, that Tim is not "stupid". He may screw up... a lot... and he may not be suave in the public eye, and in all honesty, he's still a bit of a newcomer, and has that bit of naitivity about him. However, naive and stupid are two different things. I think its great how
everyone treats somebody according to their posts, as if you truly got to know that person by bickering back and forth on a post board. Hell, some of you could have never laid eyes on Tim, and already passed him off as some type of idiot. That, in my eyes, is pathetic.

Anyway, this whole thing has been disbanded anyway, by the apparent now permanent abscence of Tim. He told me at least, that he's never coming back. Whether he will or not is not for me to say. Anyway, I never thought it would develop into a big deal, and what do ya know: I was right. Its over and it never even started.
Also, I know if I were to say "so are you happy with yourselves for making him leave?" You'd all say "yeah, he's gone hurray! I hope he steps on a rake and breaks his face!" You know who you are, you've posted with the same idea previously, insult to injury. I just want those people to remember, no matter how low you think a person, no matter how much you dislike them, you're still talking about a fellow person, with a life, with feelings, and
with issues. You may not think it, but one of your little remarks might be the one to set someone off. Of course there are those of you that would say "oh, he killed himself? Good, saves me the trouble". Well...I guess all I can say in that light is that those types of people are hopeless. I'm not trying to pass judgement on all of DoS, I've never come off that way. I have my vices. We all do. But you see, its not the pious behavior that
counts, its the compassion for fellow man. Anyway, I'll get off my soap box.

Sincerely,
Sir Father Leo Caius Cassius Pride

I did have problems with the majority of Tim's posts, but you're right, I never really knew him. Well said sir, it really got me thinking.

I usually don't like to say these kinds of things about people, preferring not to attack people on the boards. But simply put, Tim has been a student at my school on and off. I have spoken with him more times then I have wished. Simply put, Tim *is* an idiot and he *is* stupid. Witness his opinion that it was perfectly normal and acceptable to fight a TDL duel and a duel in the Arena at the same time, and to run across the street between rounds.
When told to stay to fight his TDL duel he threw a childish temper tantrum and left. If people think he is an idiot, it is because he seems eager to prove that he is one.

If Tim is nae stupid and ignorant, 'e is a disrespectful harrasing welp who enjoys threatening to kill others and enjoying to flaunt his swelled ego, harassing women, children, innocents, and others for no reason at all.

No, he isn't stupid. He is a person, and I'd never wish harm to someone..but he isn't one that requires respect from me atleast from personal experience.

I never got to know Tim that well because every time I asked him something he either ignored me or replied rudely.

And, to be honest, I was quite disgusted with him after his multiple-duels-at-once shenanigans.

Just to set the score straight, Tim is stupid, and he is also an idiot. I know that bastard well enough to say so. Perfect example...Teach newbies on the basics of dueling without the basics on etiquette (Which Tim needs himself). Hell, more like teaching the basics on being a stupid idiot like himself. I attack him like this because he damn well deserves it...

Quite simply...

How many of you tried to teach him about respect? How many of you tried to teach him by example? How many of you showed him any amount of respect for the accomplishments he did acheive? How many of you offered a kind word, or a gesture of welcome?
How can people say they wish to bring honor and respect to the Arena, then insult and deride others?
Tim had his bad points, certainly... but how many of you tried to look past those bad points and see how much potential he had? How many of you tried to politely point out those bad points, and help him overcome them?
The reason honor and respect are fading from the Arena is because so few of us try to teach the coming generations of honor and respect... There are those who will blame other causes, but that is at the root of it.

::a bit surprised by the posts, tacks a note to the pile::

Drake,
I've already considered atleast all of your questions. He almost intentionally tries to be an idiot, and finally (He does actually realize it) he backs up into a corner wondering why people are insulting the hell out of him. But yes, they drive him hard, and E, you're one of them. After that hard push, he gets very angry and lets it out on everyone. Remember, E, how rude you were to him? Instead of explaining reason to him, you
insulted him with ugly words, which had nothing to do with the matter (such as 'Punk"). You set him on fire, but he did drag himself into it. Another yes, Drake, everyone just out-right guesses he is an idiot and mentally not there. Sometimes it's true and I know it for a fact. He has faulter's just like everyone else, his are just more idiotic and strange. E insulted him so much, that Tim was telling the caller to cancel his duel so he could
get to duel, E. Caller didn't let it happen, but you can see where my point is.

I've tried to help the man, he actually guessed myself a friend. And I did consider him a nice man. But when I explained how to show the person that is insulting him the obvious to truth, of which that he wasn't all the insults. He blew up at me. Insulting me and the guy that set him on fire. I see where he is headed and tried to bring him out of the deep pit, but he's already too far in for anyone to reach. The best thing to do is don't let
him drop any further.

Drey,

To hell with that hippy-love poppy-cock, eh? The kid's as punk as punk can be and I have already tried giving him a chance and he's not worth my time or energy anymore. I am not here to set some example kid, I am here to simply duel.

Drake,

I tried. He has shown himself to me to be undeserving of any further attempts and attention. I showed him respect, tried to teach him, explained that which he needed, and he has thrown it all away. I have No sympathy for the boy, he is an idiot as most claim him to be, and deserves no better treatment than such a person deserves.

I'd like to applaud the arena.

Truly, some of the people here are so eager to get together and yap about whether or not one person is an idiot, yet have complained in the past how there is too much political bickering.
But why should I bother calling people a hypocrite. I'm sure most people make slip ups so they get things in their favor, and this isn't a major issue.
...That doesn't mean I won't toss in my two coins.
From this vintage, the whole subject looks ridiculous. Least previous bickerings had some moral standpoint and some Arena politics in it.
People used to worry about where the arena is going. If those who complain want to waste their time debating over one's idiocy, then now is a good time to worry.
I propose our next topic be whether drinking poisoned ale and eating molded bread is an act of rebellion or an act of lunacy.
The topic after that... Fancy dissing after your opponent thrusts: Stupid, or funny?

I have not insulted Tim in any way. I do not wish to insult anyone. I am just saying that you can point that out for a lot of people, but I'm not one of them. If you take this as insult, it is not meant to be that way. I just wanted to point out that such a broad saying is illogical to make.
