No one, and I mean no one, knew Ulath better than I, and I know for a fact that he considered Adonai a friend.

I'm sure this will bring about all sorts of comments about how little I knew him, la dee dah. Go waste your comments elsewhere.

The angel reads Jola's note and fondly remembers the fun times when Jola, Ulath, Adonai and her spent many hours together in Questrion.

Gnimish suddenly blurts out after a quick low chortle, "Ol' King Gav must be wearin' a chastity cod piece or something", the words bring a blush and a grin to Cyggy's face.

This is my opinion:

The Rings and Titles born by the Barons and Overlords of the Duel of Swords are honorariums on loan from the Arena and the people that frequent it.

My opinion is based upon experience... and Ulath Fici, ironically enough. Some years ago, after Ulath earned the honor of the Eighth Baron's Ring, he gave me the jewelry and petitioned the Council to award me the title that went with it. (His reasons were his own, and not relevant to this discussion.) He was denied.

When Raiyko later challenged Ulath for this ring, and the challenge went unanswered, I petitioned the Council to allow me to Champion Ulath. I was also denied.

The Council awarded the Ring to Raiyko by forfeit.

So you see, although Ulath held the title, and I held the ring... neither "belonged" to us. It "belonged", as all of the rings do, to the sport. I find it ironic that Ulath is being pointed to as an example of someone who would say that a ring "belongs" to someone. I cannot speak for him, but I believe he learned the same lesson that I did during that time.

Another point to bear is that when a Baron or Overlord retires, the title and jewelry are borne out as prizes in the subsequent Warlord's Tournament. If they were possessions of the person, this would not be possible.

Jola reads the note Simini left before the woman walks away, Wil reading over her shoulder. She says quietly to Simini, " I'm so glad he had a good woman like you when I was thought to be dead. Thanks for taking care of him."
Wil squeezed Jola tightly. "Well, you're not dead now and I'll prove it!" Hefting a laughing Jola over his shoulder, he winks at Simini before keying in the coordinates for their suite on the digipad. "A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do."

I think it will do good for us all if we'd stop writing other people's opinions and 'comments' on the board, and instead let that person come forth and stake their opinion, if they choose to do so.

Plain and simple.

The Seventh is mine. I have the blessing of those that held it before me. For as long as I should hold it I will defend it with the zeal that I would defend my holdings and lands. Should I lose it....I will return for it.

You don't have to agree with it. That isn't the issue. I never asked for the entire community to condone what I think or believe. I believe it...and with the blessing of the honored duelists that have held this title before me. I will call it and see it as I see fit. And not to be unduly harsh, while your thoughts are well placed, the rest can go hang.

It is mine, until such time that I choose to relinquish my fondness for it. Like it, or lump it, but lets not argue about it because its pointless, you won't convince me, nor will I convince you. Moot issue.

Should any of the former holders of the Seventh happen to take offense to my calling the Seventh my own...then I duly invite them to step forward and press the issue in combat. I am not a dishonorable duelist to be sure. And I am more than able to settle things dueler to dueler....blade to blade, and let the best man win.

Thats my piece on this. Other than Jonalyn's mad ravings....your opinions and insights are noted and appreciated.

That's a good thing, too.
You could say, "Some people enjoy vanilla ice cream", someone would call him a liar and argue that HE'S "some people" and DOESN'T enjoy vanilla ice cream.
Then, other people would needlessly heap opinions and insults on both of them, entirely irrelevant to the unimportant discussion. Someone would say to stop fighting, someone else would call him/her a hypocrite, and then I'd laugh. I always laugh at stupid things.
I'd stop laughing, however, when the "hypocrite", the "liar", the "bickerer", and some other irrelevant person who breaks into the conversation and gets called "oathbreaker", meet terrible fates.
The "Liar" gets assassinated, the "hypocrite" and "oathbreaker" retire, and the "bickerer" gets promoted to either Warlord or Baron. Horrible fates for all, and then someone insults me for jynxing the community.

So your saying that your fondness for the Baron's ring is similiar to the fondness of a woman you sahre your bed with. Something so easily able to 'kick to the curb' when it suits you? I find your your interest in the 7th admirable and can even understand your justifications, but if you are going to commit andstake thy claim, don't let your claim become a whim of worth when it suits you. You totally demean and cheapen your whole arguement that
way.

I never had the problem with you calling the ring yours...and if you look back to my original statement it says something like that. I said that I *do* have a problem with that mindset in the fact that you would, like Var said earlier, use it for your own advantages if you believed it was yours...I am one of the former holders of the Seventh that you spoke of and I have a couple of problems with the way you speak of possesion...now the ring is
yours..and may be for quite some time..but after you lose it, like Jeffrey stated..it no longer becomes yours..it's not mine or Jeff's or Ulath's or Moralitor's or Ath's or Ellisa's or Kal's or Damon's...(just to name a few), right now it belongs to you..but you spoke of it as yours *before* you got it back...that was my issue..Secondly, back to the issue of me being a former Baron of the Seventh..I did have a slight problem with you calling it yours
and did press challenge..but you seemed to respond with an anger..(I'll admit it was sent in a hostile tone but it was meant not to condemn your actions but to disagree with them). So thus, I don't believe you feel like my opinions matter or will be noted like you stated..but I never meant for this to rise to a fevered pitch of malice and hate that this seemed to come to after both sides were said and done..but enough of talking, I shall meet you in
the ring...Until then, Skill and Honor.

Thank you Uziel, your outlook on opinions is similar to mine own.

I would like you to know, however, that on the few occasions I tack my opinions onto this post, it is to add a general comment to a general discussion, not to argue with any one person. In fact, in this case, by the time I decided to write a post, I had forgotten who had said what in the discussion.

Should I have something to say to someone in particular, I will make that clear, as I have done here. My sincerest apologies if you thought I was aiming to tell you you are wrong for your opinion, or to change it. I do not have the desire, nor do I presume to have the ability to do such things.

And all too often, it seems that people who appear to be arguing are really choosing to express the same opinion in different words. ::chuckles as she writes, having seen that situation far too often::
