Community of Duelers and Officials,

I wanted to take a moment to officially notify the community of a few things I have been already asked. Before getting into that I wish to give some background.

About Two years ago, I had the opportunity to set foot in the ring with Ford Prefect in a baronial challenge match. I lost that match after leading 3-0 and learned some great lessons.

You can challenge honorably, you can win with class, lose with dignity and gain friends by mutual respect. I understand, at times, challenges happen for other reasons and I accept that all do not feel the way I do.

Each Overlord has had their strengths and weaknesses but I hope to carry forth De Oro's view of the joy being in the duel, in the fight, not the winning or losing. I also wish to echo DeBurgo's efforts to encourage many of the new and younger ones, in the learning of the history and traditions of the sport. I strive to enjoy the intuition the longest running Overlord had in his dueling, anticipating the ebb and flow of the duels. I hope to share in
the enthusiasm the Overlord Athlstan demonstrated as he often mailed newer Warlords a letter of congratulations. I desire to exhibit the logic and structure of the Overlord Kalamere's speech, and his generosity and kindness.

The other Overlords I did not know well enough to speak of their strengths and I ask this part of the cork not be used to discuss the weaknesses of any previous Overlord.

As to the questions I have been asked.

I will encourage all Barons to meet their own challenges, as I did when a Renegade Baron. I am not fond of intercession but I do not discount there may be a time when it may be used, but don't hold your breath waiting to see it happen. I know that is somewhat vague but those who get to know me, or do know me, would understand.

I would be happy to discuss with any of you in further length should that be insufficient in explanation.

I feel the Overlord should be an example of decorum and sportsmanship. Encourage those new to dueling and assist in the answering of questions about the realm in a non biased manner as much as possible. That is not to say I will not have opinions but that I will want those new to dueling develop their own opinions without my bias just because I am Overlord.
