So...
Your bias is against Cygnet.

Brigath did -not- give me the chance to swap myself in to fight Jonalyn... he asked that Lady Starfare not duel Cygnet based on Lady Starfare's preference... again, noting that I had spoken with Cygnet and she had no problem with dueling Lady Starfare in honorable one-to-one combat.

I told Brigath that, if he wished to press the matter of switching duelists, that I would be the one that Lady Starfare would duel. I further told him that I wasn't sure I would want to duel someone who constantly insults and derides me.
It was Brigath who, after a talk with Lady Starfare I would think, came back and said that the lineup would stand as is.
I did not force Cygnet to duel Lady Starfare... Brigath set the match, and Cygnet told me she had no problem with dueling anyone in an honorable match.
Keep writing... My youngest daughter loves when I read to her, even this stuff. My elder daughter is with her father right now, but she likes when I make copies to read at home, since she gets to draw on them when I'm done.

Madame Silvertree

Ast I am one of the personages directly involved, I must say thine grasps of the "facts" ist a wee bit slippery. Ast one who wast privy ast the "accused" to the various exchanges, Madame, thou shalt certes permit me a few "facts" of mine own.

<< Fact One: Brigath came to me asking to switch Lady Starfare vs. Cygnet after the entire lineup for the match had been decided. >>

Fact One: Upon being apprised of the pairings, I didst indeed pen a note to Brigath, who be co-captain. I requested a change in the pairings. I also at that time stated that me reasons be that I hae nae wish to be tempted to slay that Angel in the ring. Further, I didst apprise Brigath that if the match couldna be altered, I wouldst do me best to slit her wings, her throat ast well ast gut her like a fish.<FONT
COLOR="#0000ff" SIZE=3>

<<Fact Two: I told him that I was not inclined to allow such a switch, because I did not feel I should pander to Lady Starfare's wishes. I had set Cygnet as my fourth duelist, and Brigath set Lady Starfare to duel her. >>

Fact Two: Madame, thee apprised Brigath that if I dinna wish to duel that Angel, I wouldst end up dueling thee. So who be backing off from facing me, Madame? Certes nae mineself, for t'was thee didst insist the pairing stand ast thee demanded. Further, Madame, thee didst state that were I nae to duel ast assigned, I should then take a forfeit and didst insult me inta the bargain. Madame, for thine information, I
hae nae e'er missed a duel ast well I hae made mineself available, nae to mention acquiescing to mine opponents' schedules e'en should it mean me teammates couldna attend.

<<Fact Three: I further told Brigath that, should I allow the switch of Lola dueling Cygnet instead of Lady Starfare, that I would replace myself for Kira in the final match.>>

Fact Three: Fact Two rather contradicts thine Fact Three, Madame. for thee hae the opportunity to face me and chose nae ta. Thee didst set the wee kender agin a bladeswoman of masterful skill, the French lass, Lola Beaumiere, who wast forced to face thine wee kender and didst chose to use the flat of her blade.

Fact Four: I further told Brigath that, if he was aware of some personality conflict between Cygnet and Lady Starfare, he should know that there was an even larger one between the "Regent" and myself, and such a duel would be ill-advised.

Fact Four: See Facts One, Two and Three

<<Fact Five: I further stated that I would not allow him to replace Lady Starfare with a substitute duelist because, frankly, I was totally within my rights to do so. If Lady Starfare can spend endless hours watching the duels in the Arena and Annex, she can easily schedule a Team Dueling League duel.>>

Fact Five: Madame, tis thee seem to hae skipped over the fact that if thee dinna wish to permit a substitution, Brigath wast well within his rights to seek a free agent. See Fact Two.

<<Fact Six. Brigath came back to me and said that the lineup would stand as is.>>

Fact Six: See Facts One and Two

Fact Seven. In the actual duel itself, Lady Starfare's only concession to the traditions she so often spouts was her actual stepping into the ring. Her so-called method of dueling was the use of magick or some other power to float a pair of daggers in the air... Prove to me that it was actually she doing the manipulation of those daggers.

Fact Seven: Thee filed a protest with the league stating that thee couldna discover anna logical way that it might be proven that I wast in fact the personage manipulating mine blades. Thee didst further state that I wasna e'en present in the ring, Madame. Madame, tis nae mine fault if thine skills in the adept arts aire so lacking that thee canna perceive the delicate shifting of the ley lines nor notice the
drawing upon the mana. Most journeyman mages ast well ast some of the brighter apprentices hae that ability. Thee further demanded proof that I hae dueled in that manner afore. Wherefore wouldst thee require such proof, Madame? Tis amusing thee now admit that I wast indeed within in the ring. Further, Madame, I presented mineself ast a clear target by sitting upon the ring ropes, a rather precarious perch, wouldna thee consider? T'was nae
a thing preventing thine duelist from walking, crawling, flapping her wings, or waddling to ringside to give me a clout with her butterknife. She dinna. I chose nae to use mine killing blade nor mine magical daggers, either of which may hae struck a lethal blow.

Fact Eight. Until extremely recently, I have never said anything against Lady Starfare. All of the bad blood, both with Cygnet and with myself, comes from her end... not ours.

Fact Eight: Madame, thou art certes approaching senility. Shall I set mine scribes to rendering fair copies of thine jottings upon this board, nae ta mention thine less than cordial comments whilst I do take a few hours of leisure away from Westridge and the Provinces, leaving mine darling husband to tend to kingdom matters ast well ast enjoying the company of our bairns when they aire nae under the watchful eyes
of their nannies? I find it utterly droll that thee make claim to hae made anna offer of conciliation. Much ast t'was a misstatement when thee didst make claim to hae invited me to join the staff. Madame thee hae done neither.

Fact Nine. Your obvious bias in this situation colors the entirety of your post.

Fact Nine: Madame thine hypocrisy be slipping in nae ta mention thine own bias and perhaps insecurity.

Fact Ten: Madame, thee nae only offered me deadly insult with thine accusation of cheating, thee didst offer insult unto mine teammates in that thee didst thereby insinuate mine teammates or mine Captain wouldst countenance such behavior.

Fact Eleven: Thou didst threaten the league officials stating thee wouldst pull the JGR from the league if they wouldna rescind the suspension of thine duelist. Furthermore such action would hae been detrimentral to every remaining team in the league. Perhaps thee hae nae considered that? Tis clear ta me, Madame, that ast usual thee display nae common sense atall.

Jonalyn Starfare

PS: Alyxz, git G ta translate fer thee. He hae the franchise on the Jona to Common translation chips, a rather lucrative sideline. Thee canst pop it behind thine ear. They also be said to be right tasty with a bit 'o mayo an' dill.

Jona did take ta Drake and won. End of questions, and enough said. Drake be a grand lass, but ta Jona did back up her words. Ta rest be nonsense.

Lady Starfare...

Again and again, you accuse me of things I have not done. I cannot, in any way make comment on any letters you may have sent to Brigath, as I was not made privy to your comments.
Directly copying from my letter to Brigath, which is also in the hands of others who can verify this... "I'm not sure you really want to do that. If Lady Starfare doesn't want to duel Cygnet, she'll end up dueling me... and if you think she has a personality conflict with Cygnet, you haven't heard about what she thinks of me.
Personally, I'm not sure I should put myself out for a woman who constantly insults and derides me."

It has been stated that the Ward of Gondar has been extended to cover the Arenas that the TDL duelists fight in. And, in fact, Auritan the Meek has confirmed this with me... and yet you indicate "I chose nae to use mine killing blade nor mine magical daggers, either of which may hae struck a lethal blow."
Do you mean to tell us you possess the ability to circumvent the Ward?
Also note that, while Cygnet does duel with a butterknife at times, in her duel with you she dueled with the rapier given to her by Gnimish. I also believe that she did not give you a clout with her blade because she felt that would not be within the proper nature of the duel.

How Ms. Beaumiere chose to duel my team-mate is her own choice, and has nothing to do with this situation. Again, I point out that the Ward of Gondar protected both duelists... and I am certain that Ms. Beaumiere was aware of that fact.

Perhaps if you'd read my entire statement, you would have noticed the "Until extremely recently, I have never said anything against Lady Starfare."

I have tried many times to find out what your exact problem with me is... I have tried many times to just drop the arguements that you start with me... and I have always been rebuffed. It is you, not I, who continues this campain of hatred.

In a later post, I did mention that I have my own bias... everyone does. Does that make such obviously slanted bias and slander on the part of Ms. Rexx any more acceptable?

With this, I hope to consider the matter closed again. I do understand that you will wish to make further comments, and only ask that you read the reply I made to Baron Oakenshield.

In closing, I offer this.
From this day forward, I will never say anything against you.
I will not stand by while I am slandered or insulted, but I will only defend myself from attacks, not make attacks of my own.
I only wish one last question to be answered... How do insults serve to promote Honor?

Madame Silvertree,

With regard to mine eschewing the use of mine killing blade, wherefore dost believe the Ward of Gondar wouldst protect annaone outside the ring. Think thee I dinna hear thine jabbering insults ast I didst duel? Didst think I wasna aware afore that match of thine insults ast well ast that thee hae chosen nae to set foot in that ring with me after delivering said insults? Madame, thee aire apparently blithely unaware that thee and thine team
were shown an amazing amount of patience that eve. Further, I find it rather amusing that one who hast proven she hast little understanding of the simplest magicks, ast well ast one who didst blithely seek to tamper with the Wards, that thee wouldst doubtless nae e'en be aware if I hae made such an attempt. I shall suggest that thee dinna think to insinuate that I wouldst consider attempting such. Madame, I wast present when the sacrifices were
made and the Wards strengthened. Ast well I hae been visiting the dueling house manna a long year afore thee hae e'en heard of the Wards let alone hae gained anna understanding of their nature. Kindly dinna attribute thine follies and foibles unto mineself.

Madame, I note that thee rather conveniently dinna add all thine comments made unto Brigath in thine missive.

<<I also believe that she did not give you a clout with her blade because she felt that would not be within the proper nature of the duel.>>

Madame, if thee believe thine duelist dinna give me a clout with her blade because she felt that would not be within the proper nature of the duel, pray tell what IS the proper manner of a duel? If she be wielding blade wherefore would she nae wish to attempt to strike with it? Wast it nae thee what complained that thee dinna believe the official of that duel wouldst be properly able to ascertain whether
or nae thine duelist didst manage a strike? Nay only didst thee insult mineself and mine teammates, thee insulted the league official what wast calling that match or hae that also escaped thine notice?

Wouldst care to define "extremely recently", Madame?

Madame, I should think I hae made it verra plain precisely what mine difficulty ist with thee, or hae thee lost the ability to recall mine precise comments with regard to thee and mine reasons for them? Thee hae nae once sought to approach me either by private missive or in public. Therefore, dinna make out that thee hae been rebuffed. Madame, dost thee consider thineself perhaps some sort of threat unto me and mine that I wouldst bear thee
"hatred"? Rest assured, Madame, thee elevate thineself in that belief. Didst I perceive thee ast a threat unto me or mine, rest assured, I wouldst bear thee a deep animosity. Thee aire nae such, therefore thee draw from me little more than amused contempt and perhaps a modicum of pity for thine seeming insecurity ast well.

I rather thought Sasha Rexx's missive, though vividly worded, verra accurate.

Madame, thine last question I leave unto thee to answer. For tis thee seems to stumble over thine pen ast well ast thine tongue rather frequently in that regard. Perhaps it hae nae entered thine addled pate that thee hae, by the making of false accusations, called both mine integrity and honor into question as well ast that of mine teammates. In truth, Madame, I doubt that hae e'en crossed thine mind, thee aire so wrapped up in believing thineself
such a model of Honor thee canna seem to peer beyond thine own nose. A pity.

Bluntly,
Jonalyn Starfare

Drake,

If you must make excuses at least make a couple I don't choke on. For everything you've stated so far, it still remains that Brigath gave you the chance to sub yourself in against Jonalyn and you passed on it. All the rest of who said what, how they dueled, what weapons were used or who else is in the game is just fluff.

Want me to believe you? Try telling me that you thought is was best for the team to leave Cygnet there. Tell us that you didn't think the Team Dueling Match was the proper place to play out a grudge. Give me something here babe, cause all you're doing so far is piling up lame excuses that make it look like you really were afraid to get in the ring.

On the subject of my bias.. sweetie, I just call 'em as I see 'em. I will tell you this though: (a) I don't believe in angels and (b) if I did believe in angels, all the stories make me want to believe that they wouldn't be liars... Cygnet has been lying through her teeth ever since that match. Try and tell me she wasn't trying to throw the match.. please. So anyway, as far as I can tell, she's just some mutant chick who happened to sprout wings.
Maybe her mom lived too close to a power plant. In her mind she's convinced herself she's an angel. Whatever gets ya' through the day babe. Ask me? I think she's off her rocker.

The is the biggest load of junk I've ever ready in my entire life. You're (you know who you are) a bunch of whiney, holier-than-thou, self-important, gutless nobodies. I think we need a separate area of the boards just for these pathetic "I'm right and you stink" arguments, since that's all some of you seem to be any good at. Lord knows the same group of you can't duel worth squat in the ring. Some of us are sick of the way you losers clutter
up otherwise pertinent threads with your useless ramblings.
Oh, and bring on the responses, because I can still take any of you in the ring any day of the week and twice on Sundays. None of your fancy, snooty, moron rhetoric is going to make one bit of difference in my life. Have a nice day, suckers.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Drake, when I read your words, but I am sure I'll be corrected. It seems you are lying all the blame on Brigath.
You said yourself he asked that Jona not duel the bag of nuts half eaten by rabid squirrels. You had the chance to offer to swap with Cygnet, but you also said you did not want to cater to Jona's needs.
On a personal level, what bothers me most is the fact that there are two people on the Gryphons whom I think are good people, and they have to be on a team of foolish antics. Cygnet throwing the duel made the team look to be as stupid as her. Cas and Eros, two friends of mine, get the so-called honor of being on the team. It's amazing Brandon suspended Cygnet for only two weeks, and what is even more amazing is when you threatened to disband
the team, because the league doesn't want people who were bounced high with a low ceiling as a child, around.
Tiredly,

Reply to Ecore and the community:

Ecore, thank you for the open and direct inquiry. I am happy to answer it honestly.

Yes, I made a proposal to the Baroness to give her the opportunity to be challenged by a Warlord.

If any wish to know why you must look back at her original challenge where she stated.

"...I can understand how it must look to those we are expected to be examples to. I know of my own record, and I have asked people to challenge me, due to that. I have tried to rectify it, and while I am disappointed in myself, I do believe that trying is the most important part...."

I responded with an offer once I located a willing Warlord still having the thought that she wished to put some truth to that. She said she had asked people yet only one had stepped forth and verified it.

Now, in all honesty, I did not expect to see the Baroness accept my "offer" and I did state that I asked nothing of her that I was not willing (or actually) had done myself before.

So why did I ask, quite frankly, to point out that just as she clarified her self perceived weakness, I had done the same regarding my absence. I wanted to see what was really at the heart of the matter now.

I also had neglected to mention that I found it interesting that the Baroness had not castigated Morgan when she won a title last year after having be gone for a long absence, or even the Baron Gimmzak for his absence in the rings of about 10 weeks earlier this year.

Ecore, I have always appreciated your honesty with me, and should you still feel ashamed I would understand quite well if you withdrew your offer to test the Baroness based on my actions. In fact, I would encourage all that offered to test the Baroness to withdraw their offers by private missive should they find my actions unsavory. It stands to reason that many would not be crying for the test if I was a poorer choice for the crown.

A note is posted in response to Sasha Rexx:

Dear Sir,

A comment of clarification ... There have never been any problems between myself and the lovely Regent that I am aware of. What transpired in the TDL ring was merely miscommunication of sorts. I had voiced no dissension when assigned to duel Madame Starfare, her skill is obvious, and clearly the better duelist won. I was just pleased to see my rally took it into overtime, thus assisting in securing the match win for my team.

I also must point out I am not a fallen angel and still hold my place as 1st of the 9 Orders. I am also blessed in marriage by the One, and that is a most sacred blessing indeed.

I pray this truth is welcome if not accepted.

I remain in Grace,
Cygnet Gnimoi
1st of the 9 Orders
Wife of Gnimish
VeteranJade Gryphons/TDL

((Authors note: I thought I posted this IC letter yesterday, I did email it to Sasha. I was unable to tell if the character Sasha was male or female, the tone and character appeared masculine to me and since IC Cyg has never met Sasha, hence the error in gender. Also, the timing of introducing this -over 4 week old- TDL event is uncanny in a typical sort of way. Have fun with it.))

Sir??? Man, and I thought "matron" was bad. I'm a chick, sweetie, and I've got the equipment to prove it. Anyway, on with the show.

> I was just pleased to see my rally took it into overtime, thus assisting
> in securing the match win for my team.

You're kidding right? C'mon babe, you've been smoking too much of that heavenly hash. Your "rally" was running away for four rounds in a row? Oh yeah, there's a way to get yourself back in the game. When ol man Fox only suspended you for two games he was being far too kind. (who would have thought, a lawyer with a heart.) Since I'm not him, I'll come
right and say: It's a nice cover story, but there is no way that you did anything other than throw that duel and it was nothing more than luck that Jonalyn didn't cut you down before OT kicked in. And before you ask: Yes, I am calling you a liar. Isn't it nice that we can share like this?

> I also must point out I am not a fallen angel and still hold my place
> as 1st of the 9 Orders.

Sure, and pigs fly. I don't want to be the one to break the news to you, but you're delusional. Go see a shrink. Maybe a surgeon can remove those mutant wings for you and you won't have to pretend anymore. Whatever. Just don't expect me to believe that you're an angel just because your mom was snorting glue while you were the bun in the oven.. or
whatever it was that caused that little genetic condition.

> I am also blessed in marriage by the One, and that is a most
> sacred blessing indeed.

Being married to that runt is a sacred blessing? Looks folks.. more proof that this chick needs one of those nice white coats with the wraparound sleeves.

How thoughtful. Instead of trying to win, you just wanted to got more points to lose. That was really a nice thing you did for your team. I should tell my teammates to dis for the first 15 rounds to make sure they each get at least two points.
"Yeah, sure Zam. Go and dis for 15 rounds. In the 16th, actually begin trying. It's for the team, man. Go and do it for the team!"
I think that there's a bigger chance of me actually believing a kleptomaniac who says he doesn't steal. The above, "I did it for the team" is just a crock.
It's pretty offensive when people sincerely think we'd believe this.

If I am not correct, Sasha, Jona didn't want to duel, Cyg. Why should Drake sub when Jona was the one who didn't want to duel in the first place. They should have forfeited or Jona's team should have found a sub. Sounds logical, after all, the problem was her which meant her team(Being Jona). Why put weight on the other team when it wasn't their idea for Jona not to duel Cyg. I may be wrong, my reading skills may be as bad as Cas. But I doubt
it.

Dex,

Thanks for the rply, Overlord.

Everyone else,

How did this thread turn into a war between Jon and Drake, when it's a thread concerning the issue of a Overlord challenge between the Overlord and a Baroness?

Nevermind, I should know better, this is DoS, and that happens all the time. How stupid of me to forget that people use any medium and excuse to bicker at each other around here.
