I've decided to make a real complicated question. With more than one answer. With different references and views. Try it on for size.
Question & Quotation: "Forgive me for being perhaps naive or even sentimental to a cheesy state, but if perhaps I had gone through such effort to achieve a prize, that the first thing I would be interested in doing was claiming the symbol of my achievements."
I would like opinions on this statement, if the man is right on his thoughts (or wrong). I want to know who said it. I want to know who he said it to and I want to know. And I want to know what this was about.

This is most likely about me not claiming my ring when I had defeated Rand Al'tan for possession of the 3rd Ring. If it wasn't, then I guess you could ignore the rest of what I have to say. Or not.
I felt like a complete idiot the next day when I realized that I had not taken on the piece of jewelry that marked my new station.
But I ask this: Is the piece of jewelry of any importance as to how one performs their Baronial "duties"?
Perhaps it indicates a lack of respect for the office, a show of a lack of responsibility. On the other hand, it also may indicate how much one values the title, position, and tradition over a mere piece of jewelry.
And in that fashion, I do not fogive the speaker of that statement for being sentimental. I hate sentimentalism and do not hesistate to let that view be known.
