Missive from Roland : The Ninth Ring

Dearest Community:

As many already know, I have challenged Baron Taelca for the right to wear the Ninth Baronial Ring. The Baron and I have decided that this Monday ((4/26/99)) at Nine in the evening ((9pm EST)) will be the time this event shall take place. The Baron was gracious enough to offer me the choice to pick a caller. My first, and last, choice was Turienal Firesinger ((RDIScad)) a grand caller and historian. One I believe should be calling more title
bouts.

The Baron and I are sorry for the short notice, but schedules are such that this was deemed the best day and that public notification prier to this was impossible. Still, I'd love it if the match could get a good showing as this, and I think the Baron will agree with me, will be quite the match.

Baron Galin Taelca of the Ninth Ring, Overlord, Council Members, Arena Staff, and trusted Friends:

I have notified the honorable Baron prior to this official notice of challenge of my intent and reasoning behind my challenging him for the right to the Ninth Ring of these halls, but I shall be happy to repeat those same reasons for you this fine evening.

A deciding factor and one of the main reasons I chose to challenge the good Baron is that he holds a ring rich in history, not only with the kingdom I now serve but with some of the community's finest. However, it would be a cop-out on my part to say that this challenge is merely one to gain a ring that has been held by the greats. No, I wish to bring the Ninth Ring back to New Mountainside for a third time. Former Knight Marshall Martigan Crow
once held it, current Queen of New Mountainside Luthien Tinuviel has held it, and now I too wish to hold it.

The above is a fine reason and all, but I believe it isn't enough to issue challenge, not for me anyway. I also challenge Galin to provide the Baron with his first test as Baron. One issued honorably and hopefully fought in the same manner. Win or lose, I know I will have done the community good the evening of the challenge.

And lastly, I challenge for the competition and enjoyment that only a challenge match could produce.

I shall inform the community in general, via corkboard, when my challenge has been fully accepted by the officials and Baron, unless asked otherwise by the Baron. I hope this letter found you all in warm regards and that your good fortunes remain.

My particulars for the challenge will be as such:

I will duel under the colors of turquoise and silver, the colors of the House of Oor~Tael in the city of Estark. I shall be wielding my original short sword "Disruptor". Standing as my second will be my good friend, Cletus Ganderfald. I shall duel for the honor and prestige of the house
Oor~Tael.

I wish luck and skill to the Warlord and I hope to see many of ye there for what should be an entertaining duel.

The details from my end will be the following:

I shall be dueling under the Blues of New Mountainside and Whites of the Dueling Praxeum. As in my last attempt, I shall be wielding the Salsinger and have yet to pick a second, though I believe I will leave that honor open to those who wish to hollar for me on the eve of the challenge.

I shall duel for the honor of my Queen and soul-mate Queen Luthien Tinuviel-Sal Roa and my precious Riley.

I look forward to tomorrow with a growing anticipation, may we both be at our best!
