Intent to Challenge

To the Warlords of the DoS (and Renegade Barons),

This is my formal intent to challenge for the Overlordship of the Duel of Swords. I have spoken on my desire to fight for the crown to many of you and you most of you know my reasons. However, for those of you who do not, here it is:

I wish to leave the warlord rankings. Yes, I could have challenged for Baron, but I have held the position before, and, in my opinion, held it the damn well best I could... it is time to move to the top position and test my skill against the Overlord.
I have spoken to many people, not just Warlords, about my future in the Duel of Swords. I have spoken of my disappointment over the way things have gone here... the petty bickering, the harsh words and insults, the overabundance of challenges... and I have told those I have spoken to that I wished to leave the warlord rankings. A great majority of those I told expressed extreme displeasure at my mention of leaving for some reason, the idea that I would merely retire my Warlord ranking and return
again to the rank of Commoner should I wish to duel further... this is my appeasement to them... and to myself.
One last shot at greatness. One last grasp for the brass ring. Yes, should I lose, I will retire my rank of Warlord... and perhaps one day return to the rank anew... but I will not reclaim the record I lost. It will be another round of hard work. Another struggle to the top. Nothing comes easy in life, and I will be glad to struggle upwards once more should I wish to remain.
I have been made aware that this is a disappointment to some. Some do not wish me to leave, even though, more than likely, they will still see me daily. Some do not wish to see me achieve the rank of Overlord. Some do not wish to see me challenge in this way... but it is something that I can and must do. The final decision falls on me and I have pondered it for many, many weeks and come to this. My intent.

And now, a word of warning to those seeking to jump on the Overlord or beat my challenge to the punch:

Know this: This letter is my intent to challenge. My challenge will not be rushed to Golden come the issuance of new standings... my intent will remain for a period of no less than two weeks but lasting no more than a month. The Overlord deserves his rest and time to enjoy his win though he did not participate in the duel. If you believe this not to be true, then you are a fool, pure and simple. At a time between two weeks and a month from now, I will issue my challenge as is proper and seek to
step into the ring with our Overlord.
Should any of you seek to overstep me and issue challenge at any time during the month I have outlined as a rest period for our Overlord, you will earn my immediate challenge should you win. And, I assure you, the same circumstances I described above will not at all apply. I will not rest until your reign is brought to an end and I will hope and pray that it is by my hand.
I say this not out of some sort of spite, but out of respect for the position of Overlord. It is an honored and respected position and should be treated as such. Issuing a challenge without giving the Overlord a proper time to rest is, in my opinion, a fantastic showing of disrespect and an act I will be happy to duplicate to those who should try to challenge within the rest period. There's an old adage which states: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"... I believe that would
apply in this case.

Should you believe that the possibility of a month without challenge to the Overlord is just far too much, perhaps you should take a step back and look at why you remain here. The Overlord is very much deserving of his rest, though, perhaps like some of you, I disagree with the silliness of testing a challening Warlord with someone other than one's own blade, but still... perhaps a month should indeed be standard. To have a revolving door for a reigning title would do this sport absolutely no
good at all, likewise to have repeated challenges to the title.
Overlord Dalamar Ar'Daumon, expect my challenge to arrive sometime before the nineteenth of the tenth month with much due respect and absolutely no hostility.

Indeed honorable intentions, and a lofty goal ta strive fer, da crown of DoS. Ye are a friend Nova as is our Overlord Dalamar. I hope ya get yer shot because ye exemplify what is good about DoS. Ya always fight with honor and respect Nova, not ta mention skill. It is me desire fer ya ta get a shot, dat I bring up da fact dat yet another Warlord tourney will be upon us by da end of October if I am correct. With such comes a 24 day rest period fer Dalamar, keep such in mind as ye must either challenge
afore or after such a period sir, or mayhaps try and win da tourney.

In any event it will be a grand matchup ta watch, skill and honor ta both ya and Dalamar.
