Let it be known throughout the land that on this night Baron Jeffrey Oakenshield did defend his right to wear the 8th Baron's Ring against the Challenge placed by Lord Martafan Illusion Faxfallen.
Baron Oadenshield was attended by his lovely wife Occurs Summer Rose Oakenshield who was his Lady of honor, and also stood proudly as his Second. The Baron's was wearing the crimson tunic with the gold seal of his house, and his chosen weapon was the two handed mithril battle axe, Chaos.
His worthy opponent, Lord Martafan Illusion Faxfallen was attended by his second, Lord Eros DeBurgo, and was fighting in honor of the lovely Lady Myst Telesedrin. His splendid banner flew over the ring, decprated with a gold crown, circiling a black rose, all on a midnight blue background. His weapon was Valinor, Lord Eros' blade, a famous mithril sword in its own right, precisely crafted in the elven traditon.
The two men fought honorably and well, with skill and precision in the ring named for their gallentry on this eve, Valor. The duel was well fought and close.
Valor, Rnd 1: Jeff feinted with his two handed mithril battle axe, Chaos, but at the last moment spun to the right, leaving Martafan parrying air laterally with skill and precision, but without purpose 1 Baron Oakenshield
Valor Rnd 2: Martafan cut low and hard with Valinor, noble blade of his second, Lord Eros, but Baron Oakenshield's axe swung down smoothly to connect and block the attack. 2 Baron Oakenshield
Valor, Rnd 3: both Lord Martafan and Baron Oakenshield, expecting an attack, whipped their blades in a display of precise talent and strength parrying air. There was no change in score this round.
Valor, Rnd 4: Martafan moved to one knee in a precise block with his blade, but at the last minute Baron Oakenshield reversed and came in low and hard on his opponents unprotected side. 3 Baron Oakenshield
Valor Rnd 5: both duelers glided with smooth precision around
each other but did not employ their weapons this round, no change in score this round.
Valor, Rnd 6: Martafan Sliced Valinor high over Baron Oakenshield's vain attempt to block. 3 - 1 Baron Oakenshield
Valor, Rnd 7: Baron Oakenshield feinted then cut Low again, under Lord Martafans attempt to block 4 - 1 Baron Oakenshield
Valor, Rnd 8: Lord Martafan brought Valinor up high just in time to parry aside Baron Oakenshield's two handed axe. 4 - 2 Baron Oakenshield
Valor, Rnd 9: Lord Martafan spun Valinor down to block the thrusting two handed battle axe, Chaos 4 - 2.5 Baron Oakenshield
Valor, Rnd 10: In a surprise bold move, Lord Martafan came to half a point of evening the score with a smooth Slash as Baron Oakenshield parried with precise skill, but unsuccessfully 4 - 3.5 Baron Oakenshield
Valor, Rnd 11: ::sucks in her breath:: both combantants Thrust their weapons at each other forsaking defense, each determined to win the duel no matter what the cost 5 - 4.5 Baron Oakenshield
Valor, Rnd 12: Valinor and Chaos crashed together as both men
cut high and hard. 5 - 4.5 Baron Oakenshield
Valor Rnd 13: Suddenly, Lord Martafan lunged forward in a smooth Thrust, but Baron Oakenshield brought his two handed axe down hard in a smooth parry...ending the match and the challenge to his right to wear the 8th Baron's ring!
Congratulations to the the winner, Baron Oakenshield, 5.5 - 4.5 in 13 spectacular rounds, and the challenger Lord Martafan who fought hard and well.
All hail the reigning Baron Oakenshield, holder of the 8th Baron's ring after successfully defending his right to do so!
